  • I never see that type of unit in a school unless it's a day care, school house, or in an HVAC class. Normally, I would just see 2 large boilers supplying hot water or steam to multiple ventilators throughout the building. Like this furnace the ventilators also draw outside air too except I don't think it's 100%.

  • @Vinylrecordsneverdie I now work for the company that builds these types of units. Engineered Air bought out flame master and this type of unit is now refered to as a XE series high boy. This type of unit has a 3:1 turn down ratio modulating gas valve with a output range of 0.5"WC to as high as 4.0"WC on high fire and the furnace size ranges from as small as a 2 section to all the way up to a 10 section.if you look closely this unit is 100% O/A.

  • wow this is what my old furnace sounded like and it looked like that. we are getting a new one today which is good since my roomate likes to crank the heat way up all the time. i am renting a house

  • There is a reason that old furnace is still going; It is built to last unlike the crap made today.

  • Thank you very much for responding, I will definetly get someone to come have

a look, I will also try changing the filter , hope it helps, I will let you know the results when I have applied the change.

  • I am renting a house it must be at least 60 years old, the furnace i believe is the original, I am wondering if there are other ways to filter besides the old filter that is in it prob original as well. it heats well the air is horendous, the furnace seems to be making alot of new noises as well. The house is approx 1000 square feet, alot of furnace, big bills.

  • @debbie51463 Hmm it would not hurt to call up a heating and air-conditioning contractor because it seems that your furnace is in need of a tune up. As for improving the air quality in your home you can purchase pleated filters but you have to change them every couple of months as they do plug up faster then tradional fiber glass filters.

  • Wow, that is so wasteful. A modern building would use an HRV or ERV.

  • @captain150 yup those were the days....

  • LOL it out ages mine by 5 years! But mine is monstrous like that, though...and there isnt flammable crap lying everywhere around it. Ill post a vid response showing it, tell me of any safety concerns!

  • put in 1962 it's 48 years old

  • cheap dick change the furnace

  • That's pretty cool, and it still looks decent. But they really should clean that room up!

  • owe yes, some people got shit over this

  • Damn, that thing's older than me! :o)

  • Wow, that furnace is ancient, but still worx like new! I never saw a setup like that b4. I would love to see an late 60's or early 70's GE furnace.

  • When I find shit like that in mechanical rooms at the schools I tell the custodians that they have 15 minutes to get their shit out or else. That's right. I'm a hardass.

  • lol

  • yup looks like my room, all messy like!!

  • gee I hope not lol
