I think it's stupid, it can't be used for training, because the hair dresser will become careless when cutting the hair believing it's just virtual and wont even learn hair grabbing techniques
The device is huge and cumbersome. Unless it is refined and made much smaller, it won't give a true simulation of how hair-cutting scissors are held and angled to achieve certain cutting techniques.
O_O;; How odd a invention... It's good an idea, but rather difficult because it works like a tablet. You have to see the screen to see the hair, but the problem is, unlike a computer desktop, hair is in 3D and has texture. It's way too uncertain to feel the depth you need to push the scissors to cut, nor can you lift the virtual hair for the various hair cutting techniques hairstylists use. Unless they include some device for the other hand as well, this sadly isn't any good than for a toy.
I scratch my head at those who can't see the implications this sort of VR may have. It's prototypical, so of course the detail is coarse, but if you want to get repeated practice cutting hair for instance, a mannequin with hair is only good for so many uses, is somewhat pricey, and volunteers with real hair might be hard to come by, a VR simulation, once programmed in detail with many additional layers of realism could become a great and inexpensive training tool that can be accessed anytime.
It's a good start but It doesn't help learning how to cut hair at all...It isn't even close to being real. It's more like a game (a very boring game) They need to make way way more hairs on the model I mean its really, really basic.. Looks like something from like 20 years ago aka the 90's
Reminds me of the saturday night live sketch for a commercial promoting a virtual reality headset + gloves that simulates reading a large virtual book, one sentence per page.
you idiots need to understand and read the subtiles, this is just an demonstration of the technology. dumbasses thinking this is their finished product..sigh
Can you make a fully automatic hair cut machine ? Just choose the style (only a few styles such as Japanese or Chinese man short hair style) then move the head into the machine to cut. If this is fast enough, it will be good for putting one near the mass transit bus or train station then you will get rich easily.
This sucks....TRAIN ON A WIG!! This is not gonna help
