@teslapower220 It's just the crappy way Frieghtliner does it's wiring, when the key switch was turned off (while the truck was idleing)the power going to the tachometer gets cut off, the truck dies down to zero rpm and the needle stays at 700rpm till you turn the key again.
Forget about the new Cummin's. Not a huge Cummin's fan,but the N14 sounds aggressive even just letting the clutch out. Series 60 is my motor of choice.

Cummins N14s are GREAT engines!!! My buddy has one also 475 hp in his 65 foot Cape Horn trawler yacht.

they only put glow plugs in little baby diesel engines these are real diesel engine with block heaters and ether

No. They make so much compression and are so big they don't have any heating source. Some have block heaters that you can plug in.

How many miles did you get before having to overhaul? Also, what year is the engine?

The year is 1996 and the truck had around 800,000 miles on it before the overhaul.
