  • What kind of fuel milage ur truck get fully loaded?

  • @HilBil91 About 3.8 mpg @ 80 tons gross, on 11 axles, about the same as a C15.

  • the C-15 in the 904 at the end sounded phat too !!

  • Man,oh man! Australian Truckers got it made; great trucks, big engines and that "you help me, I help you" Trucker culture.

By the way, did anybody notice the fact that australian and Canadian Truckers are allowed to pull two, three, sometimes four trailers?

If we North American owner-operaters were allowed to do that, even with fuel prices at $4-5+ a gallon, we'd make a fortune under own authority.

Do the math, guys- 4 loads(1 per trailer) from L.A to NY $3.05 per mile=$35990.00!

    Keep'rolling!

  • DAMMIT SON, THAT IS A TRUCK---ALL WE GOT IN THE STATES ARE MULTI WHEELED THINGIES SUFFERING FROM "CHROME OVERDOSE"-----I DIG THE KILL GRILL WITH DAYTON SPOKES---I WOULD HAPPILY SHOVE GEARS IN THAT CHARIOT!

  • Im geussing you guys dont back it up very much lol

  • I used to have an Aerodyne just like that one, 15 speed deep reduction. Why do most of the trucks down there have those big round head lights?

  • @cj382 I guess you mean spot lights? The roads out West are empty at night and the Lightforce H.I.D. lights turn night into day. If you mean headlights, the round ones are probably more efficient and are cheaper to replace than the rectangular ones some of the trucks in the U.S. and Europe have.

  • Back in the 80s the 3408 Cat was untouchable on the I40 run to the west coast, black smoke pouring from the stacks and a rumble that would make you wet your jeans.

  • the T-904s would be sharp looking trucks if they weren't so short.

  • I like Australian style. Really power. I'm gonna go to Australia next year. Keep rubber on.

  • Dual Pedestal AG100?!?!?!..... where's the 6 Rod?? Stunning example of an earlier K series though. That truck is an absolute credit to you.

  • @AUSSIEGIZMO76 Makes for a really smooth ride along with the parabolic springs on the front and long wheelbase

  • @gm16v149 Plenty of room in that wheelbase........plenty of room to extend the cab like that old silver rocketship of Kerswells!!!

  • Yeaaah Catpower! I like youre Truck.Nice and good sounding 5*

  • LISTEN TO THE TURBO IN THE SECOND TRUCK! AWOSOME!! =D =D

  • where do u get those bullbars?

  • @peteryuill1 Plenty of factories make them over here. Mine is an Aluweld which is known for it's strength and they are well made.

  • @gm16v149 cheers, how much did they cost?its for my land rover defender

  • @peteryuill1 $5,000 for the one on my truck, don't know about anything else. Google 'bullbars'

  • @gm16v149hello just watched ur clips over here in co cavan ireland drive a 03 volvo 460 tiny compared to urs r all road trains like urs macks and kenworths or are there others what age and mileage is on urs hope u have more videos to come thank you

  • @ruairi50 Most of the heavy-duty road train trucks are KW, Mack or Western Star, but you do see the occasional Volvo or Scania up north. Mine is a 1980 with about 5,000,000 kms. Most trucks are a lot newer but mine is a good spec and in good condition so I've kept it.

  • bloody hell penong hasent changed a bit.hahahaha, i use to run through there on trips to perth in the roadtrains, see border village is the same too.hahahahaha great run out there, anazing views

  • High def version is definitely nice

  • we in the states U.s. we can pull 4 trailers 3 trailers 2 are 2 53 foot trailers.

  • Boo! Cat sucks! Detroit all the way!

  • imagine 1 of those engines in a cummins pick up.. now that would be savage man

  • Those are some SWEET rigs! Excellent vid! Quality was superb.

  • Does the K100 ride on air bags

  • KW Airglide 100, dual alloy pedestal

  • how many tons is at 0:54

  • They can legally gross a little over 80 tons.

It is a B-Triple, so they gross about the same as a double road-train (like mine) and are the same length (36.5 meters)

  • man, that truck is timless you do such great work thanks for the post

  • I wonder how much longer we will be able to run these mechanically injected engines with all this carbon trading BS we've got coming, especially in this country.

  • they would,nt make you shut your truck down would they, that would be a crime

  • @gm16v149

Can you get green diesel where you are? My Prado TD runs it ok, but I'm still skeptical about the "supposed" damage ethanol can do to a dieso.

Are there many common rail trucks running around yet mate?

  • You can get bio-diesel but I am a bit wary of it before we know all the facts. Common rail has been around since before the Detroit Series 60 in 1987, DD had an electronic 8V92 with unit injectors before that. I suppose you could say GM has had it since WW2 in the 2 cycle engines but they weren't electronic obviously.

  • @gm16v149

Yeah, GM has it's fingers in a lot of pies all over the world, although looking shakey now! They bought a lot of technology, but left it on the "shelf" to sell GM exclusively.

Do you ever get over here to the east coast?

  • How much does the fuel tank hold? how many mile can you cover on a full tank? these are awsome

  • My cabover holds 1,800 litres. Bonneted trucks hold up to 2,500 litres or more. I usually fill up after about 1,200 kms because you don't want the tanks to run too low.

  • there is that V8 again !! love it

  • mitici i camion australiani (italy)

  • Plays in HD fine here in the U.S.

  • Hey chris i guess i found out a while ago that they do make chrome valve covers for these. I saw one on a peterbilt dump truck that had an 3408 in it. It might be custom though i don't know.

  • 25 or 29 maybe 40 but 2many knobheads on 40 usually hey

  • You got them too over there, there in every bloody town over in QLD!!

  • wow fella HD kick ass hey lol driving a 04 fleetliner with readymix on side and shell barge tried calling ya up couple times wen ur in perth

  • I usually turn off the UHF in town

  • thank you for clearing it, nothing like a straight six, it's hard to find v8's here, they were bad on fuel and had no power.

cat build a monster truck motor in the 60's, a six cylinder twin cam 1393 or 1394, i always wanted one, i think you can get about 1500 hp out of them, i get about 700hp out of my 3406b ( block is stock....lol)

  • here is the sound of a 3408 look for video.

    1978 KW W900A PC 3408 Cat

  • nice video, the last KW sounds like a 3406 to me, maybe my ears is screwed up from listening to one for more than a million miles.

    drive safe

  • Close enough, the last KW's got a C15.

    1st one 3408.

  • huh? its a V8 cat mate all 18 litres of it

  • Considering the engines in both the

Kenworth trucks videoed are Caterpillar! The K123CR COE has a 3408 in it while the T904 conventional has a 3406E (or C15) in it!

  • Another nice video. I just love the sound of your Cat V8. I almost had a CAT 3408 in my Highway Hilton, but I couldn't get a Jake Brake, so I picked the 8V92 instead.

  • Thanks, Hank.

I hope the Aerodyne is still going fine.

  • @HighwayHank1 8v92 is a better sounding engine

  • @HighwayHank1 Cat had something called a "Brakesaver" which is a hydraulic retarder that bolts onto the back of the motor

  • nice trucks, nice country!

  • who owns that sweet T904

  • that t904 your talking bout is a t908 and is owned by jnk express of port hedland

  • thats a very very nice t908... super clean.

  • 萌え

  • Sounds like a CAT 3408 to me!!!!!

  • tmstr174,

    You're correct - the engine is in fact a Caterpillar 3408 18L V8 rebuilt and re-rated at 599hp!

    Joe

  • So nice... Oh my... :D

  • Another great vid mate...

Ill be looking for the Spicer "how to Vid ".LOL.

Terrific shots, very good quality, plenty of grunt too.

  • nice sound of air starter

  • Is this powered with a 16 speed spicer box? I know that the spicer 20 speed is like an air shift of like a 5+4 i believe.

  • Spicer PSO-16B Pro-Shift

  • With the quality it's in, how long did it take to upload with the internet you have? I can make my videos really good quality, it's just that i don't always have patience haha.

  • Took about 2 hrs for YT to upload and process.

Where I live uploads are a lot slower than downloads.

  • Good job Chris, great video, very nice quality. But please keep that 'How to use a Spicer box' video in mind!

  • I'm doing a brake job on the truck at the moment but I'll get around to it eventually.

  • Another great video Chris, watched in HD felt like i was standing beside the camera, took a little to load and was jumpy, but i think that youtube will sort that out or i need my computer looked at lol

is the fuel cheaper at Penong than Ceduna and at 1.41 was it long ago.

  • Shouldn't be jumpy maybe it needs more time to buffer. Works fine on ADSL at home.

That was taken a week before Christmas, fuel's coming down heaps, about the same price at Ceduna.

  • The video is pin-sharp in HD even in full screen, but in Australia you'll probably have to wait for the bar to be 3/4 of the way across before you press "Play".

    See "more info"

  • Great job Chris. It looks nice in HD. You can see everything so clearly, and the big KW is looking better than ever.

  • Thanks Glen.

You can even see the sign with the price of fuel ( cents per liter ).

    Diesel's a lot dearer than petrol......bloody rip-off !

  • wow this video is amazing in HD

  • It puts a different perspective on things doesn't it .

  • I love the way you pull out with that 3408 Chris, low R's...most of the young generation wouldn't guess that she's a beast whenever she gets ready...sweet mate!!! Can't wait till I get mine...do the twin turbo air to air, try to squeeze 1,200hp to the wheels @ low R's...topping right @ 2,100...not over!!!

Save on downshifting in the mountains...short dumping cycles (since I pull semi end dump).

  • The guys up north all recognise a 3408 but down south they don't know what it is , most of them anyway

  • Some guys never been exposed to them except in the quarry running the Cat 769C Rock Trucks, they never experienced what she really can do. Boys back n the Big Island have no clue...some have even gone as far as telling me they're "rubbish..."they forgot" the 1st experience with Cat, James Tanaka's Pete 351 w/a 1693PCTA (D-9 bulldozer engine),

dusted 12V-71's (3408's are in the new D-9's),

history will always repeat itself as far as the "dingalings" are concerned...

  • looks unreal in HD!

  • I better not let your Harvey near the truck Renae......hope you're having a good Christmas up there.

  • Hi Chris,

HD works just fine in Dubbo - I might be getting a JVC HD video camera as well... I want an Everio HDD camcorder!

    Joe

  • I bought the JVC Everio HD with a 40GB hard drive. Also a JVC external mic and wind sock......cuts out the wind noise heaps.

  • I thought it might have been an Everio - the quality is good! I will definitely be buying the Everio now!

  • Not wrong about the HD version. Great quality, took a little time to load but worth it.

  • It won't play in HD on my laptop with wireless 3G card but it's OK on the home computer.

  • I tried it on my laptop with wireless 3G card too, and it worked very well in HD, it just took a little bit longer to load. My 3G coverage at home is pretty bad, about 30% (3 bars out of 10), but it worked anyway!

  • Babies jump out of prams........no, you've got to be careful with it !

  • Works excellent in HD (Brisbane), just like you say, it needs time to load in.

I bet it took awhile to upload, i'm thinking 15-20 stubbies:)

  • About 2 hours and 6 attempts before Youtube got the sound and vision right !

    For a vid under 2 minutes !

  • Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrat..

    This HD looks AWESOME...

    Nice trucks around Autralia..

  • Youtube only just started with HD and it's got it's problems at the moment.

  • Love the kenworth at 1:14, sounded like it had a Caterpillar. Your K104 is pretty cool too, love the ol' 4 cycle V8s, you don't see much around anymore. The only big truck V8s that are really common are the 2 cycle screaming jimmies.

  • It's a K124CR , the K104 is a lot newer.

Mack V8s you still see over here.

Can you watch it in HD where you live ?

  • Yeah i can watch the video in HD pretty fine. just gotta wait a minute or so. Well, we still have a decent amount of V8 mack motors. I know at least 2 or 3 superliners that are running them. Dad has a friend who probably has about 100 diesel motors laying around, i'd say about 75 of them are 2 cycle detroits. He has 2 V8 cummins, a Vt-903 and a V-903.

  • How come I don't live in australia instead...

Dang good looking trucks mate and the sound is really awesome!!

And yep, I can see the vid in HD up here in Sweden.

Please post more ***** vids like this one :-D lol

    Happy holidays!!

    Tomas

  • Did it take long for the vid to load up in Sweden in HD ?

  • Hey, no it didn't take long at all. The whole video was buffered in about 40 seconds.
