I've also tried to get people to accept me for who I am or who I want to change self to be. What I saw was that my convincing them was actually me (in not yet living the change) trying to convince/reassure, seek out support for self. I'm still seeking reassurances - but less and less, = to that which I'm actually living. In other words - that's where I am too.
