Depending on the eruption, there could be a pyroclastic flow. That is, super heated gases spew out of the volcano and travel downhill at potentially hundreds of mph. This along with lahars (mud/debris) flows, could generally make your day go pretty badly. I wouldn't relate any of it to a nuclear shockwave though.

This volcano is on sort of a timer and has blown every 600 000 years since the world has formed, it's now been 640 000 years since last eruption and in 2010 had 2500 mini quakes ranging from the low 1's to 3.1 on Richter scale.In short we'll see this thing blow in our life time. It's a planet killing event. Sleep well rofl

If Yellow Stone blew up in all it's glory, the whole world would suffer for it. The big problem with these supervolcanos is the ashes blocking the sun, which affects the whole world similarly.

That doesn't necessarily mean everyone would die though, the human race has gone through similar eruptions before, including some by Yellowstone itself, but while our RACE would likely survive, our CIVILIZATION would be surely gone for good.

Dude:Nobody died inside the volcano that day: there were 57 deaths total. 50 were from smoke/ash inhalation, 6 were from the earthquake, and one: David Johnston, who was a scientist studying the area with anticipation of the earthquake, he died in the avalanche that spread 5.2 miles in diameter away from the actual explosion.He was only 2.5 miles away- the last thing radioed to Vancouver was: "Vancouver this is it!"
