  • nice job cleaning it

  • @cybertriobite Thanks!

  • we have some fosils like that in neah bay but i never thought of cleaning them up.

  • Yeah, I used to go to Clallam Bay east of the Coast Guard station and find lots of fossils -- snails, clams, crabs, marine mammal bones, and occasionally a nautiloid, which is similar to the ammonite in the vid. Gotta go over to Vancouver Island for the ammonites though...

  • can you tell me where you go on vancouver island ? I am interested in looking for some fossils but dont really know where to start.I live in campbell river do you know of any good sites around here? I have heard of some but they are probably picked pretty clean.

  • Everything I know is from the book West Coast Fossils: A Guide to the Ancient Life of Vancouver Island by Rolf Ludvigsen, Graham Beard. There's probably a copy at your library. Some sites get hit pretty hard, but if you try hard there are still nice fossils that can be legally collected without digging a big hole.

  • thanks m8 :) could you tell me the price of the tools ? would help me loads ty :)

  • dude how did u clean that fossil plase tell me :) ps good vid 5 star *****

  • Thanks. I used a "paleotool" air scribe, which hooks up to an air compressor and works like a tiny jackhammer to knock off small bits of surrounding rock.

  • I'm sorry? lol. I had trouble digesting the video description, but looks cool.

  • Thanks. Hopefully the description makes more sense now...

  • ohhhh...now i get it. Really interesting. Deserves a follow up on wikipedia to learn more. Off i go...lol.
