It has to do with France's colonial scheme in Iraq and the Middle East and the way they'd like things are done, and their priorities which on this issue differ from the English colonials. Their anti-war stance had nothing to do with their being a friend to American (or Iraqi) people, that's a naive way to see it.
No really .. since frence wasn't only country against iraq war, my own country, finland, was against it too. Hell most people outside usa knew there are no mwd's in iraq. Dunno why england joined you .. after all bbc reported it
Why we joined? Its that special relationship we have lol. Some relationship that is, we are now just Americas attack dogs and we have been for quite some time. Plus America knew it could do with our expertise in handling the region. No one in the UK wanted to go to war with Iraq or Afghanistan, but that doesnt mean shit in the UK.
All because they dared to warn the U.S of what a terrible mistake it was to invade Irak.
At this time French showed themselves to be better friends than M. Blair who just followed president Bush.
