Sounds like a latex or vinyl allergy. Cloth is the worst for keeping baby dry due to constant moisture held by cloth. You may have to cut the liner from the disp diaper and pin it to a cloth one to keep the skin away from the elastic. A lot of work but baby is worth it.
my son was the same way it turned out the die they use was the cause so we used cloth diapers and & every thing was fine just make sure the detergent you use is very genital or your baby will get a rash from that we used a lot cornstarch baby power every change as it's very adsorbent and only A&D original ointment as needed, now they have A&D zinc oxide cream with aloe and it real good wipes off easily just remember to change frequently as cloth doesn't hold as much use plastic diaper covers
I used Happy Heinys and they were great! and diaper creams leave a residue on clothe diapers after a while so clothe so I use "browed flour" at every diaper change and it works well. U probably think I'm crazy but it does work! After 5 kids I know it works just though other moms could use the tip to instead of spending money on cream all the time. Yes I do use some cream when using disposable diapers I use BARRIER works AWESOME!!!
I was having the same problem with my son. He has exima. We switched to cloth diapers and we found AWESOME deals on ebay for then. There not BG or fuzzy, but they came out to be about $5-$6 a diaper with insert included and the rashes have almost gone away. ebay is great and they have held up very nicely....
I don't know if anyone suggested this, but silk liners!! If you have to use cremes when you are using cloth the silk will keep the goo off your dipes.
I know you already picked FBs, but they are really better ;) I hate BG
press some garlic and put the juice on the affected area. if it is fungal the garlic will kill it. also that breast milk thing is probably a really good idea.
@xxxjoelpolexxx let me know how that works out for you. what cloth diapers did you end up deciding on? i'm about to have my first baby and i plan to cloth diaper so i'm just curious.
I know you have over 100 comments on this already so this is probably redundant, but I love our Mustela Barrier Cream. It's a great brand of products and the barrier cream goes on thick and protects his skin. Once it starts to heal I then slather on the Aquaphor, which helps my skin heal from just about anything. It's also what his doc recommended for drool rash and it gets rid of that in just a few hours. Hope that helps, love your videos!
If you have a sensitive baby stay away from FB + BG!!!!! Any diaper that has polyurethane treated fabric can irritate skin. The water proof layer breaks down over time and they leak. I switched to 100% cotton or hemp diapers and 100% wool covers
wool covers can be waterproof google washing wool soakers or lanolizing wool soakers and learn about it.
if you go to etsy and look at recycled wool soakers the are cheaper. or learn to knit!!!
easy lanolizing go to soapdudz and check into that.
I used CD on all 4 of my babies-Go take a look at CutieBooty Diapers site. They have BG and FB. I use both, they work the same but the BG is a one size and FB is sized. The FB now has a one size, but I like the Rocky Mtn Diaper one size better because the elastic adjustment snaps so it is assured to stay at the setting you choose. You can also never go wrong with prefolds and a Thirsties cover. You won't regret switching to cloth. You just need to find what works for you. Good Luck!
Have you looked at "gDiapers?" I haven't used them (so I can't say whether they are good or not) , I'm still looking into different brands too. I hope you find something that works well for both of your cute kiddos!
i used zinc cream mixed with olive oil and then apply liberally it works wonders and was better than anything else i ever tried - try using it 50% olive oil and zinc cream just use the white zinc cream - is he teething sometimes they get diaper rash when they are teething he is allergic to the plastic maybe - try it see if it works but u gotta be persistent u may still have problems with cloth if u use plastic over pants
If you havn't already look into a diaper service they are amazing and most of them will sell the covers for them as well our whole family uses cloth diapers and they truly are better.
My Sister has cloth diapered BOTH her daughters and she LOVES it .. if you have any questions for her feel free to ask me and Ill talk to her for ya !
I had the same problem with the cheap diapers, but I switched to Pampers. I hope the cloth diapers work for you. My son is 4 months and 3 days old and we went yesturday for his shots and everything and he weighted 16lbs 1 oz. And we are fixing to have to go to size 3 diapers as well.
I can't use plasters i'm alergic to them. I can't use face paints. I once used Clearasel and the next morning I woke up my face was all swolen and my eyes where swollen. I also have sensitive skin.
do you have like chux in america ? u used to be able to buy a cloth product to put inside the cloth nappy to keep the poo ontained and they were flushable i dont know if they have them in america ?? - u might need to go tp one of the mother websites - they may have some better ideas - hope ur bub is alright sdoon
my sis uses the ones that look just like burp cloths-I don't know what they are called but I can find out-they are tie dyed and get softer over time. And she got a few cute washable covers/bloomers that go over the burp cloth-they are easy to use-she does a rinse cycle with hot water and then washes w/detergent and hangs them to dry in her laundry room. I can ask her more questions if you want!!
Hey, do you guys have bamboo nappies over there? I use them as both my kids (and I) have very sensitive skin. THey are naturally antibacterial so really help with allowing skin to heal. Come in prefold, all in one and two part system. Oatmeal bath is very good as is "rooibos" tea don't know if you can get it there :)
i aGREE WITH OATMEAL BATH REALLY NATURAL and very soothing for any thing like sunburn u need a little bit of oatmeal put in a muslin or cheescloth or something like that and let it seep in the bath water and it will turn it milky and bath him in that that might help at least to sooth hes poor sore bottom and waist
both my children have the same problem. I know you didn't mention this brand but i use a Blueberry coverall. they have snaps going up and to the sides they fit 10-40 lbs . the only downfall is it is a diaper cover and not a all-in-one diaper. but over all my recommendation is go to a cloth diaper store if you have one near by so you can see them for yourself & ask Questions . I'll do a review for the blueberry coverall diaper cover so you can see how it works.
I see you have already gotten tons of comments, but I used Better Butter for diaper rashes, and we use Fuzzi Bunz and Thirsties AIOs. They both have thier advantages and work wonders, remember with the FB they run HUGE! Most kids will never wear a Large- at 16 lbs he would be borderline small medium you may wanna try one befor you order! GL
woohoo go cloth! i love muttaquins and goodmamas with bunnis wraps so cute! and BG v3's are good along with prefolds they are really easy to use. cottonbabies website do a good range and bargains!"
i cloth diaper fulltime if you need more advice email me :)
Go on Facebook and join a group called "I love cloth diapering" It is an amazing group with lots of discussion topics and that will give you tons and tons of info!
I've researched using cloth diapers and I recommend checking into a diaper sprayer (you can buy or make one) and the care/washing of cloth diapers...some need special washing/drying to ensure that they last (b/c they are expensive). DIaperpin is a good site. Wetbags are also good to carry soiled diapers while you're out (until you can get home to do laundry)
my son had a bad i mean BAD dipper rash and i used Bag Balm cream on him and within the day the rash was gone.Try it maybe it will help. I know Fred Mayers has it for sure.
I am subscribed to "TheGraceDiaries" on Youtube and she did cloth diapering. You may want to ask her for tips. She seems to know a lot about it. Hope that helps!
Stripping your diapers sucks so if your dryer has a build up make sure you get rid of that before you buy them. And thats a good idea to ask for them as gifts because it is a big expense to start up. Hope this all makes sense and if you need any advice don't hesitate, I should just figure out how to do a video for you because there is so much to explain and I have lots of tips and advice! Cloth diapering is fun, you will get addicted!
We use BG's and I love them. You might wanna go with the one size one's hat way they both an wear them and since Jace won't be in diapers to much longer. A few things tho, you have to change them the second they are wet, because they can feel it so depending how much laundry you want to do you will need about 8-10 per day for Kacen. Also if you are using dryer sheets, stop, they leave a build up, on your diapers. If you have been using them you will need to clean your dryer...
Yes, it is way better to hang them on the line, I forgot you were in Texas where is it always sunny. It will really bleach out the stains and won;t be so hard on your diapers. But then remember you will need enough diapers to account for when your other ones are hanging on the line. I live in Canada and can only hang dry them a few months of the year, otherwise in the winter they would be frozen little diapers!
sun drying is better especially for the diapers that have velcro like bum genius' ones. plus the sun naturally bleaches them! personally i love the fuzzi bunz! henry has been in the medium size since he was almost 15lbs and they've fit great on the smalles closures. the fuzzi bunz will probably last longer that the bg's because of the snaps instead of velcro.
i also have bg 3.0 one size diapers and i like them but they fit small. henry already uses them on the biggest setting and he is 16lbs.. Fuzzi Bunz also have one size diapers (i haven't tried them) but then have an elastic setting around the thighs which i think is really cool, esp. for the babies with those chunky thighs! you can always message me if you have any questions about washing or preference, we use mainly FBs and BGs and some prefolds w/ covers.
Hello..it might sound really strange to you but try using natural olive oil to help with the rash...it will not hurt them in any way and here in Greece it is very often used to help with this problem.....It worked with my daughter..you can use it as often as you like....
well the one time my daughter had diaper rash, it was caused by the brand of diapers we were using! but to get ride of that rash we went to her doctors and they prescribed clotrimazole cream. it was wonderful! it was gone over night!!
We use Bum Genius one size. If your child has a really bad rash you might just try letting him air out with out a diaper for an hour or so. Parents choice baby wipes are not organic only the cloth is. if you look at the label you will find a pile of chemicals. We make all of our baby wipes. (2 cups warm water, 2 T olive oil, and 2 T organic body wash put on a roll of VIVA paper towel that has been cut in half. ). We found it was the combo of what chemicals were in the diapers and in the wipes
It's me again with one more diaper I liked that runs a little larger. It's called Mommy's Touch One Size. This website will let you buy a package with five different brands of diapers so you can try them out and decide which you like best. I liked them all, but a couple washed up better than the others.
Just type in Bum Genius and you'll get plenty of results. I never put any type of ointment on my sons privates and his skin looks so healthy and nice. No red at all. I love this diaper.. recommend to anyone thinking about cloth diapers and I wish I used it for my daughter when she was a baby as well. They save so much money too.. thats bonus!!
Hi there.. We use Bum Genius CD's.. They are awesome. SO glad that we decided on that when I was pregnant. We bought 27 diapers and I wash them every three days. I bought the one-size CD's with the snaps. They are great. To give you an idea about up to what age they fit, my 4 year old daughter still uses them for sleeping at night. When I was researching about this kind of cloth diaper, I saw a lot of tutorials and whatnot about Bum Genius diapers on youtube.
We used Fuzzi Bunz CDs, and they work very well for preventing rashes. They're very soft and gentle. With cloth, I noticed I had to change him more often, because if they get too full the diapers leak a lot easier than disposables. He can't make it through a whole night without leaking, so it means middle of the night changes. They're really easy to wash, but I'm not a big fan of the snaps. For me, I found it hard to get them to fit right. GL!
on the hottest cycle possible and they were fine. I hope any of this info helps and I hope all works out well, wether my advice was used or not. He's getting soooo big. I love chunky babies!!! Im a nanny to a 14 month old now...and she is in size 3...but she is tiny! I love the little roly poly legs and frog bellies (as I call them) YAY for chunky babies!!!!
As for the cloth diapers, Im not to sure of the companys you had mentioned, but my cousin did use a service for them. She said the service was more expensive than she expected and that she could clean them at home for FAR less. All she suggested was to have a pail with a mild bleach solution...which again, if Kacen has sensitive skin could be another irritant. Im not sure if they make bleach for babies. She would just rinse them out and put them in the pail and just put them in the washer....
My nephew used to get a similar rash. His was diagnosed as a heat rash..but he had it ALL the time. He was a little furnace (and stlil is). That kid would sweat in a freezer. They suggested buying the cloth diaper covers. You could still use disposable but you would just wrap the cover around the diaper to cover the areas that had the rash. It was kind of a pain, but it did work. They also suggested a baby powder to use with the wrap to soak up any residual sweat that the cover did not.
Allergic to Latex or any other type of rubber that surrounds the diaper? I use a medicated diaper rash cream called Vusion that was prescribed. I rub it on only at night to protect her from a soiled diaper. She doesnt get diaper rash anymore but I still do this at night. Triple Paste or Butt Paste are over the counter creams and they work well too.
Vusion is VERY expensive and the only ointment that works for either of our children when it's a yeast rash. Our insurance will only cover one tubes worth a month and it's pretty harsh stuff on their skin so we try to avoid it. But it works INSTANTLY when it's a yeast infection.
The BG's stand up to the washing really well and I have never had a problem with them leaking unless she wears them for to long like if she sleeps in at night. Happy cloth diapering.
Hi I have been cloth diapering for almost 2 years now, my daugher had the same rash you were talking about and that is why we switched to cloth. I am now cloth diaper my 22 month old and my 1 month old. I have tried all different brands of cloth diapers and the BG are my fav. I like them much better then FB. I use the BG 2.0, 3.0 and the AIOs. I love them all. I don't like FB very much, they dont have a very good fit on my daughter and they dont stand up to washing as weel as the BGs do.
I had to do to both my daughters.. Same thing happened to them...Cloth diapers on both. I went with a cloth diapering service. It was awesome. It was not as bad as i thought..Good luck in the cloth diapers...
I hear Max and Ruby!! LOL Tatum still loves that show.
You said that it was in the places that have the elastic touches them...do you think it might be a reaction to latex do you? Or do you think it's the dyes. Stick a regular (brown cloth strechy) bandaid on him and leave it there for a while and see if it causes a rash, could be latex senseitivy?
my husband and I were just talking the other day about cloth diapers and some states and towns have a diaper pick up service.they have a special bin that you put like the diapers in and they come weekly and pick them up and drop off new clean diapers for you.
Have u guys tried the gdiapers? It like cloth diapers but disposable. They are green diapers that are flushable and bio degradable. We use them for my niece and nephew who have sensitive skin as well.
I dont know if you have ever tried parents choice diapers, but I know they dont have dyes in those areas, plus their cheap. lol They work for my 5 month old. take care
Congrats on switching to CD! It's better for the environment, cheaper in the long run, and most of all healthier for babies!
I have been using CD for two months and LOVE IT! I am using BumGenius and HappyHeiny's - Love them both! I didn't try the FB because I wanted the one-size option, but they have it now, so you can check out the reviews!
I've watched a few of your vids throughout my pregnancy & since I've given birth - you're a great mom with such cute kids! Good luck with the CDs!
I've been wondering about fitted vs one size and this all in one. I think the one size would be best since I have 2 still in diapers. But I'm hoping to get some feedback on that as well.
One size has its advantages. They fit from birth to potty training so you only need to buy the one set, and in your case you can use them for both Jacelyn and Kacen. The down side is that on smaller settings, the one size can be bulkier since you have to fold them down for the smaller sizes.
The onse size pockets also come with two inserts - one newborn and one large. So the insert grows with the baby, and you can double them up for more absorbancy which is awesome!
There's a brand called Seventh Generation that make diapers that aren't bleached to look white, they have no dyes, and contain no chlorine. They're kinda a funny tan color, though. But the inside of the diaper feels like cotton kinda...very soft compared to Huggies or Pampers. They sell them at Babies R' Us, and they just started selling them at my local Hannaford's grocery store. And they're a very reasonable price. $11.99 for any pack. I use them for both of my babies, and I love them.
CD's are great if you can do it, also don't use wipes. I used paper towels. the good kind with soap and water. Also did you try the oatmeal bath I told you about, OMG that works so well for the rashes as well as the ezama
We use PC organic wipes and wet paper towels. Had to since my daughter was a baby (paper towels) we just started the PC organic wipes w/ my son. We have aveeno oatmeal bath.
My guess is A) atopic/Contact Dermatitis or B) Allergy to Latex in the band. I used to get rashes from my diapers as a baby and still get rashes SOMETIMES from different things I come in contact with.
I forgot one other brand I liked--Haute Pockets. They have the nicest inserts if you want to go with pocket diapers. You can message me if you want the website.
I bought the BumGenius One-Size and Happy Heiny's pocket diapers from an online store. We liked them, and I think it would save you money if you got them to fit both of your children. You just change the absorbancy for each child's needs. I hung them to dry, and they are still like new for our next child. Added plus: potty-training is easier and comes along quicker!
The soft microfleece inner layer gently touches your babys skin, pulling away moisture and keeping your baby rash-free, dry, and comfortable. The microfleece is made of 100% Polyester and is custom-milled. And they have snaps which can fit your child's legs and waist. And they are really comfortable to wear. The colors they have are A LOT! Go to their website and you'll see.And the pockets can even fit a hand towel.
I google-ed BGs (bumGenius?) and FBs (Fuzzi Bunz?) for you. And I found their websites. I wil give you the links to their websites later on in the comment.
BGs:
Personally, I think BGs are a great brand. And the whole diaper is waterproof. They have a soft lining that keeps the baby dry. And it stretches to fit your baby. They have 5 colors which are Blossom(pink), Twilight(blue), Butternut(yellow), White and Grasshopper(green).
If your son is really sensitive you should go with FBs. The suedecloth inners of the BGs has been known to cause rashes and sensitivities, but FBs have nice soft microfleece. Or you could do BG organics which are also natural and non irritating, but they don't have a "staydri" layer of fleece. Good luck!!
until we changed his wipes (parents choice wipes organic) however we do use wipes when he does # 2 . We use a wash cloth with water, apply Vaseline everywhere every change, use allergy free shampoo and lotion, and takes a bath everyday (let them sit in the water without soap for a few minutes) I hope something helps!
My son also has that problem. When he had it really bad, his doc gave him a prescription that made it even worst since his skin is so sensitive. I had to let him sleep naked during the night in order to heal it.which it did. Then we started wearing his diapers (pampers) the rash came back againwe changed to huggies, and the seven generation, but it was still the same
I've been leaving him naked for as much as I can through out the day. Which is actually pretty often. The rash will almost go away and then its back shortly after putting a diaper back on.
Ok first I have one magic solution.. I am very serious about it lol. BAG BALM works miracles no joke. Never used cloth diapers but my mother in law did she said they are great for like the first year. Good luck and trust me about the bag balm.
The only thing about lotions, balms, creams ointments and everything else is considering where he gets the rash, putting that stuff on is MESSY! It gets on me and all of his clothes and everything else.
at once and they are good for the environment. I hope this helps! If you have any questions about them feel free to ask. I also work as a nanny part-time to put my self through school and both of their children wear FB. So I am very experienced with washing them etc. Good Luck with your decision! -S
WOW! I am shocked! The majority of kids in our family have the rash you are describing. My 2 nephews and niece all had it. They were told to use vaseline etc. It did not work!!! So my sister-in-law made the choice to start using Fuzzi Bunz. They were and still are awsome!! My niece is almost 4 months and she has used FBs since birth. They swear by them. No leaks and they feel so soft use after use. They are expensive at first but you get your money out of them. You can wash them all....
Yes they are very expensive at first, but I was talking to my Mom who CD'd us kids, and asked her what she thought about instead of buying him clothes/toys for christmas since he's FULLY PREPARED in those departments to buy stuff we ACTUALLY need and will help his sensitive skin like cloth diapers and accessories. So I think we'll get a few for now and ask family to do this instead. :)
Hey Lucy cloth nappies are the way to go it may be more washing but its worth it especially on your babies skin when I used them i used baby power with every bum change coz of the moisture
Hmmm...could he possibly be allergic to latex? My friend's daughter was and she had to buy latex free diapers. I think latex because its near the waist and leg bands.
My sister in law as a child was allergic to all diapers except the cheapest ones they could find, fitti brand.
No advice for cloth diapers, my kids were in diapers when I had no washer and dryer of my own. My daughter Emma who has CP is almost 5 and in diapers but we have no found cloth that worked for her due to her muscles
I just bought some Bum Genius 3.0 and been trying them out this week and I love them no more dirty clothes and they hold everything inside very well I have not had any problems with nighttime either. Only thing is He is in the middle setting so I don't think they will last as long as they say but still worth it.
My son is 12 weeks old so not much younger than yours and they are the same size big baby's. I also breast feed my son so he is always having runny poops that most disposables could not contain.
I have heard of someone using lomitrin-antifungal cream- on dr before! My daughter has really sensitive skin I apply Vaseline on her diaper area every time I change her. It prevents rash and is way cheaper than dr cream. Hope this helps!
My son is 12 weeks old so not much younger than yours and they are the same size big baby's. I also breast feed my son so he is always having runny poops that most disposables could not contain.
My son is 12 weeks old so not much younger than yours and they are the same size big baby's. I also breast feed my son so he is always having runny poops that most disposables cannot contain.
Yeppers, his diapers don't contain his poops but he poops every 3/4 days and we always know b4 he's going to poop so it's not all that bad, we're almost always prepared for the mess :)
if you dont get the input from others that you want, a friend of mine cloth diapered all three of her kids...i could have her write you. but with your following on youtube, I am sure someone will know something! good luck to you!
Yes they both do.. Jacelyn reacts the worst though probably b/c she's capable of expressing her self more than him. She will scream bloody murder and literally beg u to not put it back on. He fusses, and gets super cranky.
I def am interested in cloth diapers mostly when we are at home. I hope you figure something out! I bought one fuzzi buns cloth diaper. But my little guy isnt here yet to try it out :)
Could it be heat rash? The parts of the diapers you are pointing out trap in moisture. Another thing you could try is cornstarch. It could be an allergy like you said from having sensitive skin. Hopefully the cloth diapers will help!
Wow, healthy boy! My daughter just turned a year and she only weighed 23.4 pounds at her 12 month checkup. She is only in the 75th percentile though....so I guess thats normal lol.
yeah for us and our chunky boys!! preston is 11 weeks and on the 28th he weighed 13.13. i just love finding all the crud stuck in his fat rolls..lol... gl with the cloth diapers..
Sounds like a latex or vinyl allergy. Cloth is the worst for keeping baby dry due to constant moisture held by cloth. You may have to cut the liner from the disp diaper and pin it to a cloth one to keep the skin away from the elastic. A lot of work but baby is worth it.

Use breastmilk to try and heal the rash :)
Switch to cloth, but make sure with yeast you are using the hottest wash with vinegar to kill the yeasties.

I would definetly go with Bum Genius. Beacuse the pockets stay closed better than the fuzis. And they fit from 8 to 35 pounds.

Have you looked at "gDiapers?" I haven't used them (so I can't say whether they are good or not) , I'm still looking into different brands too. I hope you find something that works well for both of your cute kiddos!

Ive used them. Bad, always leaked. Still contain bleaches + elastics etc that can cause a reaction. Expensive.

i used zinc cream mixed with olive oil and then apply liberally it works wonders and was better than anything else i ever tried - try using it 50% olive oil and zinc cream just use the white zinc cream - is he teething sometimes they get diaper rash when they are teething he is allergic to the plastic maybe - try it see if it works but u gotta be persistent u may still have problems with cloth if u use plastic over pants

my sis uses the ones that look just like burp cloths-I don't know what they are called but I can find out-they are tie dyed and get softer over time.

They both have thier advantages and work wonders, remember with the FB they run HUGE! ljewkes 2 years ago

Cloth diapering is fun, you will get addicted!
ecmomma 2 years ago
We use BG's and I love them. You might wanna go with the one size one's hat way they both an wear them and since Jace won't be in diapers to much longer. A few things tho, you have to change them the second they are wet, because they can feel it so depending how much laundry you want to do you will need about 8-10 per day for Kacen. Also if you are using dryer sheets, stop, they leave a build up, on your diapers. If you have been using them you will need to clean your dryer...
ecmomma 2 years ago
I heard it's better to sun dry them & to not use the dryer?
xxxjoelpolexxx 2 years ago
Yes, it is way better to hang them on the line, I forgot you were in Texas where is it always sunny. It will really bleach out the stains and won;t be so hard on your diapers. But then remember you will need enough diapers to account for when your other ones are hanging on the line. I live in Canada and can only hang dry them a few months of the year, otherwise in the winter they would be frozen little diapers!
ecmomma 2 years ago
sun drying is better especially for the diapers that have velcro like bum genius' ones. plus the sun naturally bleaches them! personally i love the fuzzi bunz! henry has been in the medium size since he was almost 15lbs and they've fit great on the smalles closures. the fuzzi bunz will probably last longer that the bg's because of the snaps instead of velcro.
Humbily 2 years ago
i also have bg 3.0 one size diapers and i like them but they fit small. henry already uses them on the biggest setting and he is 16lbs..
Humbily 2 years ago
Hello..it might sound really strange to you but try using natural olive oil to help with the rash...it will not hurt them in any way and here in Greece it is very often used to help with this problem.....It worked with my daughter..you can use it as often as you like....
matina243 2 years ago
well the one time my daughter had diaper rash, it was caused by the brand of diapers we were using! but to get ride of that rash we went to her doctors and they prescribed clotrimazole cream. it was wonderful! it was gone over night!!
lovecanbemagic 2 years ago

When I was researching about this kind of cloth diaper, I saw a lot of tutorials and whatnot about Bum Genius diapers on youtube.
jchawkes731 2 years ago
Have you tried the Huggies Pure & Natural?
jenwhitt 2 years ago
We used Fuzzi Bunz CDs, and they work very well for preventing rashes. They're very soft and gentle. With cloth, I noticed I had to change him more often, because if they get too full the diapers leak a lot easier than disposables. He can't make it through a whole night without leaking, so it means middle of the night changes. They're really easy to wash, but I'm not a big fan of the snaps. For me, I found it hard to get them to fit right. GL!

She would just rinse them out and put them in the pail and just put them in the washer....
cnagirl99 2 years ago
My nephew used to get a similar rash. His was diagnosed as a heat rash..but he had it ALL the time. He was a little furnace (and stlil is). That kid would sweat in a freezer. They suggested buying the cloth diaper covers. You could still use disposable but you would just wrap the cover around the diaper to cover the areas that had the rash. It was kind of a pain, but it did work. They also suggested a baby powder to use with the wrap to soak up any residual sweat that the cover did not.
cnagirl99 2 years ago
I would love to do Cloth Diapers with Chelsea also so when you find out let me know what works the best. Thanks
logston08 2 years ago
Allergic to Latex or any other type of rubber that surrounds the diaper? I use a medicated diaper rash cream called Vusion that was prescribed. I rub it on only at night to protect her from a soiled diaper. She doesnt get diaper rash anymore but I still do this at night. Triple Paste or Butt Paste are over the counter creams and they work well too.
vmorales1984 2 years ago

Sorry i have no advise for cloth diapers.....

I've been wondering about fitted vs one size and this all in one. I think the one size would be best since I have 2 still in diapers. But I'm hoping to get some feedback on that as well.
xxxjoelpolexxx 2 years ago
i tried to reply to your reply, but I dunno if it's going through
mamiandq 2 years ago
Nope I don't think it is?
xxxjoelpolexxx 2 years ago
One size has its advantages. They fit from birth to potty training so you only need to buy the one set, and in your case you can use them for both Jacelyn and Kacen. The down side is that on smaller settings, the one size can be bulkier since you have to fold them down for the smaller sizes.
The onse size pockets also come with two inserts - one newborn and one large. So the insert grows with the baby, and you can double them up for more absorbancy which is awesome!
mamiandq 2 years ago

There's a brand called Seventh Generation that make diapers that aren't bleached to look white, they have no dyes, and contain no chlorine. They're kinda a funny tan color, though. But the inside of the diaper feels like cotton kinda...very soft compared to Huggies or Pampers. They sell them at Babies R' Us, and they just started selling them at my local Hannaford's grocery store. And they're a very reasonable price. $11.99 for any pack. I use them for both of my babies, and I love them.

FBs:
The soft microfleece inner layer gently touches your babys skin, pulling away moisture and keeping your baby rash-free, dry, and comfortable. The microfleece is made of 100% Polyester and is custom-milled. And they have snaps which can fit your child's legs and waist. And they are really comfortable to wear. The colors they have are A LOT! Go to their website and you'll see.And the pockets can even fit a hand towel.

Hi Lucy.
~~~~~~~~~TO BE CONTINUED~~~~~~~~~
FIIQQAAHH 2 years ago
If your son is really sensitive you should go with FBs. The suedecloth inners of the BGs has been known to cause rashes and sensitivities, but FBs have nice soft microfleece. Or you could do BG organics which are also natural and non irritating, but they don't have a "staydri" layer of fleece. Good luck!!
until we changed his wipes (parents choice wipes organic) however we do use wipes when he does # 2 . BelaLindaBela 2 years ago
We use those wipes.... and we use wet paper towels *not wash cloths* as well.
We don't use lotions on either of the kids, they get the same reaction to lotions as I do.
xxxjoelpolexxx 2 years ago
My son also has that problem. When he had it really bad, his doc gave him a prescription that made it even worst since his skin is so sensitive. I had to let him sleep naked during the night in order to heal it.which it did. Then we started wearing his diapers (pampers) the rash came back againwe changed to huggies, and the seven generation, but it was still the same
BelaLindaBela 2 years ago
I've been leaving him naked for as much as I can through out the day. Which is actually pretty often. The rash will almost go away and then its back shortly after putting a diaper back on.
WOW! I am shocked! The majority of kids in our family have the rash you are describing. My 2 nephews and niece all had it. They were told to use vaseline etc. It did not work!!! So my sister-in-law made the choice to start using Fuzzi Bunz. They were and still are awsome!! My niece is almost 4 months and she has used FBs since birth. They swear by them. No leaks and they feel so soft use after use. They are expensive at first but you get your money out of them. You can wash them all....
PrincessSarah411 2 years ago
Yes they are very expensive at first, but I was talking to my Mom who CD'd us kids, and asked her what she thought about instead of buying him clothes/toys for christmas since he's FULLY PREPARED in those departments to buy stuff we ACTUALLY need and will help his sensitive skin like cloth diapers and accessories. So I think we'll get a few for now and ask family to do this instead. :)
Hmmm...could he possibly be allergic to latex? My friend's daughter was and she had to buy latex free diapers. I think latex because its near the waist and leg bands.
My sister in law as a child was allergic to all diapers except the cheapest ones they could find, fitti brand.
No advice for cloth diapers, my kids were in diapers when I had no washer and dryer of my own. My daughter Emma who has CP is almost 5 and in diapers but we have no found cloth that worked for her due to her muscles
I just bought some Bum Genius 3.0 and been trying them out this week and I love them no more dirty clothes and they hold everything inside very well I have not had any problems with nighttime either. Could it be heat rash? The parts of the diapers you are pointing out trap in moisture. Another thing you could try is cornstarch. It could be an allergy like you said from having sensitive skin. Hopefully the cloth diapers will help!
