  • Update coming soon. Attorney General Harris dodged the issue, thanked the Mammoth Flyrodders, and said call the State Water Board and ask them for an explanation. We have and sadly expect nothing.

  • Sadly...there has been nothing but silence from the Attorney General of the State of California...Kamala D. Harris, asking for a response to why her office has failed to enforce court order SWRCB 1631.

Several written works are in process. She will be a major player in the failed history.

  • The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power is about to abandon all efforts to restore the Rush Creek trophy trout fishery that existed pre 1941. The fight is not over. Watch for a new video exposing the facts of the 26 year old battle.

The Attorney General of the State of California, Kamala D. Harris, has been asked for her opinion.

  • Call the Mono County Board of Supervisors at 760-932-5538 and leave a message you want the Elden Vestal trophy trout fishery that existed in Rush Creek in 1941 restored in accordance to SWRCB 1631.

  • California Trout, when asked if they would support rebuilding the Rush Creek trophy trout fishery for California anglers replied...we agree with the LADWP methods...(which have produced next to nothing since the beginning years ago.)

Sadly California Trout had LADWP forced by the courts to rebuild a magnificent fishery for California at no cost to California tax payers...and they mysteriously let DWP off the hook.

I wonder what back room deals were made?

  • This is why I do not like LADWP and refuse to fish at Lake Crowley. I am not giving that city any of my money to support them destroying the Eastern Sierras. We need to take it back and force them to follow through with the courts decision!

  • Beautiful video and well told story. Rush has the potential to be a very special place. Why is Cal Trout not supporting Rush creek and allowing LA to walk away from the court decision. LA should be held to the agreement and restore more of Rush Creek. Mammoth Flyrodders, keep it up. I have been a member of Cal Trout for many years and think they have done some great things in our state, but my future support is up in the air if I don't see some positive action on their part.

  • Profound message and well presented. Let's help this watershed flourish.

  • Great video, I have walked it but never had that much water flowing. Hope it improves.

  • Hey, Restoring this fishery to 1941 fish numbers is what this is all about. 3rd District court ordered LADWP to do it two plus decades ago! What's the hang up? Rush Creek is a treasure that should be restored.

  • If more anglers come to the creek they should call Cal Trout and ask them to change their passive restoration approach back to what it was when they were in the creek building new pools with back-hoes, adding stumps, boulders, and woody debris, and spawning gravels.

Then there would be seven miles of stream to catch big browns, not just two.

  • I'm really conflicted about this video. The story is very important, but I fear that what's actually shown could bring more anglers than actual support to Rush Creek.

  • Rush Creek is not a water that is easily visited by casual anglers. Too many other PAT waters nearby to keep them busy. Not a durogatory comment at all; I eat more than my share of panted trout and love catching them. But the restoration should continue and I, too, will be watching Cal Trout and TU for their activity.

  • Hopefully Rush Creek keeps flowing.

I've never fished it in the lower areas, but I have fished it near Gem Lake.

  • Another tragedy in waiting. Will we be able to restore this fishery once again if allowed to fall into decline?

Rush Creek is an irreplaceable resource.

  • Great film! Should be entered in festivals !

Sad... California Trout once won a fight with Los Angeles over Rush Creek. The courts ordered the creek restored to 1941 conditions when it was full of big trout top to bottom. After two miles work was stopped. Equipment removed. No more pools were dug and only the restored part is good fishing.

The real question, why did Cal Trout allow this? They won the suit to rebuild the stream to Mono? Someone should ask them. There number is 415-392-8887.

  • What a bittersweet story. I say let LA run dry and let the creek survive. They seriously need to put on moratorium on any new growth in LA for 50 years. They can't manage what they have now! (I live here and I know!) I fished Rush Creek back in the late 90s--a really sweet and special place. It should be protected at all cost!

  • Great video! Perfect composition and amazing story which I can relate to.
