The guy has a soft Scottish accent at times when he speaks but he's been around.

There are a few moments in his singing when the Scottish accent comes out as well.

Because of the different places he's lived he's ended up with an Edinburgh rather than a Glasgow accent. Very soft.

I've just been listening to one of his interview/performances from the NPR website (good stuff!) - he doesn't sound Scots at all, either when speaking or in his singing voice.
