would you tell me what kind of shocks are u using , and what kind of springs or piers in the front , i mean everywhere haha , i know is lot to ask but im doing the same mod to my truck , thanks a lot
this dude uses all marlin crawler products i.e. bilstein shocks and marlin leaf spring/high steer kit and probaly dual cases and front and rear selectable lockers i.e. arb lockers 5.29 gears just guessing though i know this rig is a marlin crawler for sure
Yes, we use CB Radios, they are an excellent way to communicate. We typically run channels 4 (very common channel in our area), 10 (used on Marlin Crawler events), 27 and 38 (used by local clubs).
I ran a Lock Right with 35" and 37" and did not have any problems. I believe it is how you drive. If you pound and beat the crap out of your truck, then your truck and everything on it is not going to last. Learn how to be a more technical and careful driver instead of someone who just mashes the throttle. You will find wheeling is much more enjoyable when you take your time and enjoy it :)
koowl mate, im just wondering becasue the standard transfer case is about 3 inches below the frame and yours is not, is it because the transfer case is higher on the original crossmember? or is the crossmemeber different. So just lifting everything up a bit. Any help would be great.
Ahh, I see. We both have a 1" body lift so we could raise our drivetrain higher, and then we are using an aftermarket crossmember from frontrangeoffroadfab(dot)com. This gives us nearly a flat belly bottom!
Hey awesome stuff..... one question. In australia all of the hilux's have a low ass transfer case that you can see underneath the sill under the door when looking from the side, line of sight. The white (2nd truck) has nothing visible , nothing low as..... how you get this????????
Both of these trucks were built using parts exclusively from marlincrawler(dot)com The white truck has a Dual Ultimate Transfer case system (MC08-R10) and the White/blue truck has a Triple Ultimate Transfer case system (MC08 & MC08-R10) from Marlin Crawler, Inc.
A Good Crawl Ratio makes a world of difference. Dual cases with 1 4.70:1 gear set is what we call an Ultimate Crawler, and that, with 5.29:1 diff gearing, would take your 4Runner to 223:1. In this video I am using 2nd gear, which with my triple cases and 1 4.70:1, is 277:1 which is PERFECT for the type of technical driving I do. I never hammer down, I love Crawling and seeing what the truck can do. 3 years strong I've still never broke any part! Not even a stock birfield!
i wish we had more rocky terrain here, i love rock crawlin the most but we have alot of muddy hill type terrain with mud pits and ruts and all that nasty stuff that calls for the skinny pedal, its fun most times but i too like to see what the truck can do at low speeds on the rocks, when the trails are dry then its a good time to use the low gearing because u arent sliding around like in the mud
I've always loved your truck Mike. The 3RZ swaps are one of the coolest ive seen for toyotas. Are those 37 or 35 pitbulls? How do you like them? How are they on the road?
Thanks for the comments guys. Both of these trucks have Tacoma 2.7l 3RZ Engines installed by BigMike from Marlin Crawler. The White/Blue truck has Triple Marlin Crawler Ultimate Cases at 510:1 with Toyota Electric Lockers F/R and the White truck has Dual Marlin Crawler Ultimate Cases at 244:1 Toyota Electric Locker in the rear and a lockrite in the front.
its about guys who love 4wheeling pushing their trucks they built themselves with their time money and sweat to the fullest and beyond, enjoying the outdoors around u...camping, fishing, having a few beers and just shootin the shit together
i love wheeling and 4x4 because its outdoors and your putting your work to natures test on the trail, and also because i love fishing and camping so most of our wheelin trips have alot to do with that or pretty much anything outdoors
awsome ... at 3:00 watch the rock close up front pretty cool :D

It'd be better if the whole point was to get to some great fishing spot. Otherwise, what for?
Still, quite impressive.
