Oh, nicely done! I was only familiar with the Doc Watson version of this song, but I found a copy of Book's first album on CD the other day for just $3. You nailed it! Off to work on playing that thing.
I like your version. But the Jim Jackson version with its different and slower rhythm grabbed me mor. It was more special to me. Would be interesting to hear you doing a version in that kind of rhythm. But ***** anyhow..
I have that Book CD. I've seen him play this many times out in the States. BUT....this is an absolutely great version. The speed pulls you along in its wake, keeps the feet tapping. Quality arrangement & picking. Last time I saw RBB, in NC, I bought myself 50 of those same thumbpicks - they're the best around since you can't get those old clear plastic Dobros any more! Superb version. Thanks.
I am born and bred in Kentucky, and I know the beauty of what you have done right here..what a blessing to hear ones true roots through music..remembering listening to this sound on the ole time radio stations while traveling on the back state roads..late 50's..Thanks for the memory! I appreciate you much!!
This is a rather simple arrangement so I don't think a lesson is needed (it's the speed that is the tricky part ;)
I have tablature available (at small cost) with which you can learn this song easely.
I quit handing out tab for free for several reasons - mainly because of too many requests and hardly any gratitude. I also noticed that the respect for something that is free is close to zero. Serious players don't mind paying a few bucks for something that will give them hours of pleasure.
