I liked this guy's performance of my favorite opera's final scene. It is obvious that this young man understands what Salome is all about. The dude had the emotions and vocal improvisation down pat and he lovingly sang/perform with humor and his own style. Bravo/Brava
This is what Youtube is about! Have you thought of doing the final scene from Elektra? You'd get to dance yourself to death, in the nicest possible way obviously.
I've never seen such pure genius! Last year I took a part in the play, but now I understand Salome's feelings completely! Such pain, such drama, such humor! :D
It's the finale from Richard Strauss' "Salome" where she goes nuts kissing the lips of the beheaded John the Baptist before the king orders her crushed to death.
I am devastated. Nothing like this has happened since Olive Fremstad called the NYC morgue to inquire about the weight of a severed human head, for the sake of realism, before the opera's American premiere. The immediacy. The passion. (It's 10-15 pounds by the way)
Okay, I have to come out and say it...you are the best thing on youtube. Really, brilliant. You are truly in touch with the visceral thread of all of this music. I was hoping you wouldn't shortchange the impact of the chord at 3:44 (V 6/4 of C# over a neapolitanized 7th chord in root position), and thankfully you gave it its due. Bravo. Keep 'em coming!
the dog head totally ups the freakiness factor of this scene!! haha!
