Thanks man you just help me make the sneak peak of the movie me and my friend are making people reading this comment please go check out my channel if you want to watch it and tell me how it is so far.
I hate Mac so much, but I am stuck with it and iMovie for the next month, so I have a few questions.. How do I get the transition to work? I dropped it in the middle of two clips but nothing, it just skips over it.. If I do a mouse over it the transition wills how on the preview thing. Even if I try to change the duration to 10 seconds it doesn't help. also how do I put textures onto the clips?
@WazzaAussiePictures Not sure, but make sure you are dragging it to the Project clip and not the "Event" window clip. Also, make sure the clip you are dragging it onto is long enough for the title.
on my mac, i'm trying to make a video. one of my videos is about 7:00 long. at first, when i would put the clip into my timeline, that whole video would show up in short scenes. then all of a sudden, it showed the whole video in one clip. how do i change it back? PLEASE ANSWER!
@AlexisV21 I suspect that you need to drag the slider bar over a little more to view more thumbnails for the clip. Both the Events window and project window has one of these (you can learn more with my demonstration in Episode 104 of Ask the Techies -D.Lee
@DerekVlogs That is a bit harder with this program. I would recommend creating a graphic in something like Photoshop where the text background is transparent. Just be sure to export the image as a .gif or .png. Then import into the video and place over the video. I haven't actually tried this, but it might be worth a shot.
@101Jewlz Yes, make sure you have the advanced features turned on in iMovie preferences as mentioned in this series, and then when you drag and drop a picture over top of a video (you might need to pause for a second before letting go of the mouse over the video clip), you get the menu option where you can choose "picture in picture" over top of the video. This is great for popping up additional information without losing sight of the video. -D.Lee
Is there a way that I can move the text around? I want to make a Picture in Picture and give it a title under neath it, to show what the clip is about.
I know you probably don't want to tell anyone but can you tell me how you make your videos. Do you like video tape the entire thing with a camera and then add in the clips that you want to show you?
Great video, but I'm confused about transitions. I want to fade out the last 15 seconds or so of a video, but I can't figure out how to apply the transition effect to the frames I've selected. I want so the audio will continue to the end but the video will blur. I had no problem putting a similar transition at the beginning. I just dragged it in and it applied it. I fundamentally don't get how it works and wish I could somewhere find explicitly what to do. Help!
When iMovie fades out, it fades audio and video. To keep the audio, you might have to extract the audio from the clip so that only the video portion gets faded. I hope this helps. -D.Lee Beard
@jacquiryan Not with iMovie. The only work around would be to export the title as a video and then use the picture in picture feature to move it where you want, but your background will need to be the same color in both. Otherwise, create a title effect in a graphics program and save as a jpg and import into iMovie.

hey sorry can you add picture in a video while your playing the video instead of putting it in separately? kind off like picture-in-picture?
