@randalland1: There was no silence. This was the loudest "silence" in history. Nazism was based on Nietzschian neo-paganism. There was NO sympathy for Catholicism or Christianity in Nazism. Christianity was another Jewish plot to undermine Teutonic manly virtues. The Church knows who her enemies are & acts accordingly. You are an ignorant bigot who allows the fashionable slanders of a passing hour to toss you this way & that.
@randalland1: You really don't have the foggiest. How could a minority party most located only Bavaria stop Hitler? His purpose was to make common cause w/ other Christians in Germany. I know your sick prejudice poisoned mind will probably never accept facts but Pius XII actually hid 1,000s of Jews in Vatican territories. He gave orders to save many 1,000s of others besides.
@randalland1 Don't use your poorly informed, anti-Catholic sources to further justify your hatred for the Church of Rome. Critics of Pius XII could give a shit about the Jews who died in the Holocaust, all they care about is defacing the Church. Anti-Catholicism is the last eacceptable predjudice. Why? Because people "know" it's true. They really and truly "think" it's guilty of every, single crime imaginable. So carry on if you want. There's nothing new under the sun. Bring it.
@randalland1 No, actually. I not kiding at all. That was a pretty stupid question./// The Chief Rabbi of Rome, Israel Anton Zolli, was so inspired by Pius that he converted and took Eugenio (the Pope's birth name) for his baptismal name. Albert Einstein lauded the efforts of the Catholic Chuch to save Jews. It was the only instituion on the continent to speak up against his atrocities of the Third Reich. Look up Pius XII at the Jewish Virtual Library. Get the facts straigt.
glad i found this. incidentally, a solo art exhibition by a Filipino visual artist in Manila will open next week May 25 with works dedicated and inspired by Pope Pius XII. : )
It's all religious show business. Surprise suprise the vatican's idea of a SAINT is totally different from the Bible. The pope has NO right to pronounce anyone a SAINT because the term is simply meant to describe the followers of The Lord Jesus Christ - NOT the followers of an evil religion!!
@texasoperastar: Take it up w/ Jesus. It was he who gave the power of binding & loosing to Peter. If you think his teachings are incompatible w/ the Bible, I have to wonder which Bible you're reading.
@texasoperastar Jesus gave the Apostles the power under the Holy Spirit to bind and loose and to forgive sins, and they passed that on to their successors, the bishops. Shimon bar Yona confessed Jesus as the Messiah, and Jesus (the Cornerstone Rock of the Church) said, "and I say you are Kefa (a Rock in Aramaic, Jesus's native language) and upon This Rock I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. Jesus founded One Church which has lasted 1,980 years.
Pope Pius XII well deserves the title _Venerable_, for many reasons, but his conduct during World War II alone would suffice. He did more than any other individual not commanding armed forces to save the Jews of Europe; something on the order of 800,000 Jews were saved by the intervention of the Church in various places. Pius XII did this by following Jesus' dictum in Mt 10:16, "Be ye therefore wise as serpents and simple as doves." He will go down in history as one of the greatest popes.
what's your point? that they will bomb rome? That would be just as retarted as you acting like that would effect a good outcome, the backlach would be unbearable.
One step further into Sainthood, now awaiting for a miracle attributed to Piux XII after his death. it would be a tall and infallable symbol of a Holy Father.
Pope PIUS XII has done well in saving so many Jews. A shame to those who have done nothing other than being anti-Catholic. Even Israel Zolli, former chief Rabbi of Rome who was received into the Church with his wife and many others in 1945; he took as his Christian name Eugenio. God bless the Roman Catholic Church!!!
The attack againt Pius is always that that he didn't save the Jews. First of all he did. Second of all, what happened to the 5 million gentiles that were murdered in German concentration camps along with 6 million Jews? Are they forgotten by history? 5 million people?
Are you trying to empirically prove that a metaphysical reality doesn't exist. What's the point? You don't believe in God and you think by calling people delusional that they're not going to believe anymore?
Propaganda is a thrown around term that means absoulutely nothing these days. Besides, can you name one person that doesn't propagate what they believe in? Pope Pius XII saved many Jews from Nazi death camps. There's a lovely biography praising the Roman Pontiff at the Jewish Virtual Library. You should check it out. I dare you.

Show me where in the good book it states that God will grant a certain religous group the right to make people into saints? What a bunch of hog-wash, try reading the bible for real nourishment!
They don't make people into saints. They declare that there is sufficient evidence, primarily miracles, that show they are in heaven. It's a fine distinction but an important one.
Maybe you're the one who ought to read it again. Try the Catholic bible this time. You know the King James Version took books out right? You probably thought they added them on, I bet. But remember that the Eastern Orthodox and Oriental Orhtodox use the same books as the Catholics. Only the Protestants are odd man out when it comes to scripture, actually.
Now that is more like it, I, like kdurston1, still do not like the apologetic tone of the video description; "In regards to those who are opposed to his beatification, Benedict XVI has consulted with various historians before signing the decree."
B'nai B'rith activists, who reject Jesus Christ, of course oppose Pius XII being recognised as venerable, simply because he was an actual Catholic. Its a shame real historians weren't consulted regarding John Paul II's populist fastrack though.
Israel Anton Zoller was from 1939 to 1945 Chief Rabbi of Rome. After the war, he converted to Roman Catholicism, taking on the name Eugenio Zolli in honor of Pope Pius XII.

Don't bother. Your biggest delusion is the belief in your "god".

Just more silly catholic propaganda for its insane medieval views. This Pacelli was an elite wealthy Roman who cared nothing for Jews or the poor.
