But we all know the root of this issue is that despite the fact that any number of the people commenting on this page could find much better ways to utilize such a beautiful guitar, yet steve vai is still famous...

maybe he's a fabulous guitarist, but there's just no point in having three necks. He doesn't use them. Watch Justin King play on two--there's a musician that knows how to use multiple necks.

Via is a God but, speed has nothing to do with talent. Listen to David Gilmore, Carlos Santana, Dicky Betts, Jerry Garcia, Mark knopfler, Clapton, Jimmy Herring , Warren Haynes, etc. It's all about taste and making the guitar sing! I fool people when I play out live and play a fast riff, but get the most reaction when I slow it down a bit and play from my heart.

@gomunkul Check out how he hammers on the middle neck and picks on the lowest at around the 1:18 mark. He does this in many other parts as well. Can't do that with a single guitar. Also, the tuning is different on all three.

I don't know if it's true that this guy studied under Steve Vai (whatever that entails). He should have studied under Rick Nielson of Cheap Trick. Rick plays a guitar with FIVE necks while standing.
Now don't confuse me with the haters. I'm not saying that this guy can't play a lot of notes on a guitar with only three necks, because he certainly can. I"m just saying that Rick Nielson plays a guitar with FIVE necks and writes great songs that I can remember after I hear them.

Vai studied a ton of musical theory before becoming a great guitarist. Maybe he plays for who love a determinate range of sounds. I love his sounds, nobody plays like him, as nobody plays like Satriani etc etc. So.... Who can say he is not good at playing guitar (I don't mean speed or distortion solos but other stuffs..) if nobody can even imitate him?

You guys are very ignorant if you judge an artist's entire career based on a six minute video on the internet. This is a solo anyways. And if you are thinking it was going to be great, because it's a three neck guitar then you're an idiot.
This is just as bad as when people watch the video of Buckethead soloing in mostly tritones at lightning speed and say he sucks. Its hilarious how many people are missing out, because of their ignorance. How about you people pick up an instrument and judge.

Via is a God but, speed has nothing to do with talent. Listen to David Gilmore, Carlos Santana, Dicky Betts, Jerry Garcia, Mark knopfler, Clapton, Jimmy Herring , Warren Haynes, etc. It's all about taste and making the guitar sing! I fool people when I play out live and play a fast riff, but get the most reaction when I slow it down a bit and play from my heart.
