  • Don't want our oil?

No problem, China pays great anyway.

  • oh and... Hey Bill McGreenycommunist do you think sending ships over to the middle east to supply america's oil is less impacting on the evironment?? I'll tell ya. IT"S NOT!!! you idiot! Plus it doesn't help your country at all by canceling this project. But it will happen no matter what so i'm not worried.

  • Worst decision Obama has ever made.

  • we are lost... I'm an electrician, and we've no answer to our wage needs here in Florida.

How do I pay my bills with no commercial/industrial building's goin up withing my city?

How come out-of-state contractors keep showing up here in panama city to build on federaly funded jobs!?

  • where are our jobs!!?

I heard it was denied, please up-date me.

  • Obama will approve of the pipeline around August... just in time for elections. People will think "What a wonderful president", and vote him back in office, which is exactly what he wants.

  • It is less expensive to save jobs than to create new business. Obama saved the American Automotive and Financial industries with TARP (not to mention over 8-millions jobs). Furthermore, the U.S. will likely see profitable returns from the project, and theTeaParty slammed him for it.

The TeaParty then procedes to push their pet project for costly and out-dated energy to create a mere 10,000 jobs (for which many american workers have been deemed "unqualified").

    TeaParty = corporateCommies

  • @NanoEmpyrean Jobs=modern slavery The pipeline has been refused by Obama, now he only needs to go ahead with "Enhanced Geothermal Systems" not simple geothermal but EGS.The difference is that EGS can be tapped anywhere on the face of the earth vs geothermal can ony be produced where there's hot springs! EGS FTW! /watch?v=4Z9WVZddH9w

  • As long as we rely on an outdated monetary system (which is based on human labor and debt), such large sources of XSCO2 will be tapped.

We had the tech and Earth has given us ALL the resources to do soooo much better. That said, I was kinda in favor of a huge pipeline and all the temporary jobs, but now, after hearing this, there is hope that the world wants to REALLY move beyond oil!

ONLY by robotic means powered by LFTR (or similar safe nuclear) can we survive eco-(and dollars) collapse!

  • @fireofenergy Enhanced Geothermal Systems FTW! /watch?v=4Z9WVZddH9w

  • obama is a dip shit

  • Why would he want to create jobs and help the Canadian economy when it's easier to just steal oil and kill hundreeds of thousands in the middle east. This is what is considered "clean oil". Anyway it makes no difference. Everyone is aware of the true going on's in the world. These assholes days are numbered. Sick of this shit. The people have had enough and were losing our patience.

  • Obama is a fucking idiot, that pipeline can provide at least 20,000 jobs, which people need. Now in the next year, oil prices will go up. why buy oil from the middle east when we have plenty of it?

  • @pennyf9 its called politics. obama is scared for his job and to get re-elected he needs the support of these "evironmentalists"

  • @pennyf9

20,000 jobs my ass! That number came from the TransCanada commissioned Perryman Group study. According to their poorly documented study, 20,000 jobs = 10,000 temporary jobs for 2 years, and that number still includes Canadian jobs. An independent Cornell study predicts that the Keystone XL pipeline would provide between 2500 and 4650 temporary jobs. And, by the way, the oil wouldn't be for domestic use; it would be exported from Port Arthur to the highest international bidder.

  • @xMKIVxVR6x i just reinstated what i heard on the news

  • i got an idea, instead of building a pipe, we should hire slaves to carry buckets of oil over here.

  • That guys a goddamn idiot

  • His words do not make sense to me whatsoever. I doubt it that climate change is the top threat to human beings now, at least not to me. I could starve to death without a job. To me, getting a job, even a temporary job is my top priority!

  • Whoo cares, china will respectively take it. They won't complain, hate to reign in on your "stop the oil sands parade" ur little pipeline going south doesn't matter. None of you dumb fucks matter, what matters is the world needs it. The oilsands will go on for at least another 100 years, I work here. They predict over 3 million barrels a day produced here

  • Or alternatively buy more oil from venezula, middle east? Dumb.

  • why should we sell our oil to the u.s.a? they are broke. China is rich. We should sell our oil to the Chinese.

  • the oil sands will be developed whether america accepts it or not. Theres a much larger market in Asia drooling over this resource

  • alyona,i would love to eat your muffen, your a beautiful sexy women,

  • The best part is, there were enough of us to ring it TWICE xD

  • greenhouse effect a BS, watch Conspiracy Theory with Jesse Ventura

  • @Viralgd Is that... Are you actually using that as a source?

  • @MaddGiraffes I'm using a common sense as a source, think about it, why the heck did our planet had a several ice ages, confirmed by scientists? And sun also heating our atmosphere, not coolling it, one of the most important laws of phisics sayse enthropy can only incris, and I think Ice age and super volcano is a type of cooling earth down, I don't understand how ice age is triggered exactly, but you get the idea behind super volcano, don't you? Did you watched Conspiracy Theory with J.Ventura?

  • @Viralgd In the last hundred years the earth has seen a spike in carbon emissions it's never seen before, ever. Natural climate change has happened before, and is expected, but no where near the rate we've seen recently, which plainly shows that humans and human industrialization are the cause. Global warming is not a myth. Do a little more research than one conspiracy theorist show.

  • @MaddGiraffes See One episode of Conspiracy Theory with J.Ventura about Global Warming,S01E03, maybe then you understand why i'm so sceptical, your so called reasech is fake for making money and if you belief in it your wellcome, I don't mind, but don't you tolk to me about reaserching, in this show you will see father of global warming with his milliones living in Chine or whatever, see show or only this episode and then will speak ok? Because I also believed in what you're believing currently.

  • @Viralgd Alright, well I'm obviously not going to get through to you here. I just want to make one thing VERY CLEAR. A television show about conspiracy theories IS NOT A VIVABLE SOURCE. If that show is the only place from which you are getting your information, your argument is completely invalid. Read a book. Do some math. Talk to a scientist or two. Then come talk to me.

  • Shiiiaat.....if you think the President has some real say in the construction of an Oil line -yeah right - Oil pipelines are direct conduits of power and wealth for the Shadow Elite..effectively one of thier biggest "cash cows" besides making war. If the President did refuse the building of the pipeline you can best believe he'd get a bullet in his head shortly thereafter.

  • Excellent coverage and great points made by the guest. Since I can't help myself, I will add that let's make sure this circle around the White House doesn't become a circle jerk.

  • The fact is we are dependant on fossil fuels for the foreseeable future. Wouldn't it be better that the oil is extracted in Canada, with its strong environmental laws rather than some openly corrupt regime in Central Asia, Africa or the Middle East?

  • @murf69 thank you! besides how is our oil dirtier than the oil america gets from the middle east or venezuela?

  • @SuperVancouverBC You get it :)

  • What does Russian Terrorist know what's good or bad for america

  • @cutandshoottx 0% content. Troll fail.

  • 2.3 Million miles of pipeline is a very misleading figure.

There is 1.8 million miles of natural gas line conected to every home and business in Canada and the USA. 300 000 miles of major transmission lines.

Oil is around 200 000 miles combined. over half of that delivers already refined product. 50 000 miles are gathering pipeline that collects small amounts of crude ranging from 2 to 8 inch pipe

The last 50 000 miles is large transmission lines of crude oil, which is what is being discussed

  • 2.3 MILLION !

  • THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF MILES OF PIPELINES ALREADY IN PLACE THROUGHOUT THE USA AND CANADA, NOT ONLY OIL BUT GAS TOO. GOOGLE SOME PICTURES AND SEE. THERE ARE ABOUT AS MANY PIPELINES AS THERE ARE ROADS. ONE SMALL CONNECTING PIPE IS NOT REALLY GOING TO MATTER NOW...

  • @choochinbigtime420 There are two unique traits of the Keystone pipeline that differentiate it from most others: (1) it would be devoted to carrying petroleum output from Canadian tar sands, from which oil can be obtained only in a very environmentally-damaging way; and (2) it's capacity, which would provide a large, cross-country conduit for oil sands output. It's unlikely our culture could sustain itself in its current state without pipelines in general, but this one is a special case.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 THERE ARE ALREADy 2.3 MILLION MILES OF PIPELINE IN THE US. QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT A TINY LITTLE EXTENSION.

  • @choochinbigtime420 I have at hand an email received today profiling the record of Enbridge, a firm which runs such pipelines. The pipelines of just this one company have produced over 700 spills since 2000; in 2010, an Enbridge pipeline in Michigan ruptured, contaminating the Kalamazoo River and nearby Battle Creek with nearly one million gallons of tar sands oil. That's what can happen with a "little" pipeline, not nearly as expansive as the proposed cross-country Keystone pipeline.

  • @Tigerpaws9097826 And a "spill" is defined as? How were the spills handled? That million gallon spill is shitty...how is the company handling its maintenance? Are they in a non-competitive market? What are the current market conditions that is keeping this company going?

  • @choochinbigtime420 Keystone XL is not a small connecting pipeline nor do the thousands of miles of pipe currently in place transport bitumen which is what Keystone XL will transport. Bitumen is a very gritty, sandy product that will be much more corrosive to the pipeline than other petroleum products, thus the greater the risk of a pipeline rupture.

  • oh obama, you are a horrible leader and person

  • The pipeline will go through.. the 1% will not be happy until the planet is completely destroyed and all for money fucking money guess what you cant take that money with you when you die you are just leaving a big mess the next generation will have to clean up.

  • yes! we need to reduce our dependence on russian oil! .. oh wait...

  • who still believes in Obama? you have to be completly delusional, corrupt or racist?

  • Obama is a bought politician like the countless other in Washington, it's in his interest that this pipeline is built, no doubt he would get some oil money for his campaign if he supports it.

  • PT3. Thank Alyona for being a rare voice of honesty and speaking the truth and confronting lies. Thank you Bill Mckibben for your dedication at confronting insanity.

    Tim.

    for the oceans and bipdiversity

  • @mettasutta67 2.3 million

  • @mettasutta67 Yeah, I'm still worried about Global Cooling...Global Cooling hits Global Warming, then we have some real problems.

  • PT2. ‘’The world pumped about 564 million more tonnes of carbon into the air in 2010 than it did in 2009, an increase of six per cent’’.

This kind of example of selfish indulgence has to be confronted, otherwise the juggernaut of humanity will continue flogging the planet to death and guaranteeing the 6th mass extinction, to which humanity will NOT be immune.

For the 7th generation and all of biodiversity, we MUST rise up and fight back.

  • PT1. The Keystone pipeline is a brilliant example of where a country will do whatever it takes to sustain their profligate pillaging lifestyles, at the expense of future generations and the developing world.I’m absolutely convinced that the controlling elites of corporate oil and their regiments of lobbyists’ feather bedding the political establishment on the elites behalf, will not flicker an eyelid at the NOT surprising news yesterday of the biggest increase in carbon dioxide ever recorded.

  • people are stupid. no critical thought going on anywhere in the world anymore. 3% of the world's population actually questions things and researches information. obama is a bag of garbage, i will be surprised if he doesn't pass it. he is a war monger and a corporate whore!

  • @JonathanJWB1 Not to forget he probably gets his weekly share of checks in the mail from Big Oil!

  • lol..did anybody expect that Obama wouldn't approve this ?? he like most of the congress is bought..no way will the oil and bankers not get their way..too much money involved.. he'll justify it by saying it will create jobs and it is a matter of national security..is the review process surprising ? it happens all the time..corporations rig the governmental review process and then hire the government employees..Obama is just as much bought as anyone else in the white house

  • @xadam2dudex well guess what? he didnt approve it! pure politics

  • @SuperVancouverBC it can always be reintroduced after the heat is off and people's attention is distracted or after the election

  • If Obama gives in to the industry thats it I will officially lose all respect for him.

  • The Koch brothers and its employees gave $279,500 to 22 of the energy committee’s 31 Republicans and $32,000 to five Democrats. If buy the US energy commission you can buy unethical profits. Looks like Obama is giving out some favors before the next election.

  • Global warming is a myth to put a clamp on industry and curtail production. By limiting oil production, oil companies can charge more for oil. Similar to cfc freon when it was outlawed. The freon stockpiles increased like 10 fold in value. BTW I Hate iPhone autocorrect.

  • Global warming is a myth to put a clamp on industry and curtail production. By limiting oil production, oil companies can charge more for oils. Similar to cfc freon when it was outlawed. It he stockpiles increase like 10 foodie in value.

  • @trident343lives Global Warming is not a myth, it is very real. The only scientists that disagree are the ones that are employed by oil companies.

  • This decision is pivotal. If Obama caves to the industry, the people will know he's not on our side and we can begin to rid ourselves of this diseased system.

If he listens to the people, then we win...for now.

  • Obama is a shitting corporate cock sucking traitor, too.

  • @OnenessNow The water Table is located up to hundreds of feet under ground, Oil is thousands of feet. Im not saying it doesnt happen and your wrong, just wondering why an oil company would hydrolically fracture in the water table thousands of feet above where the oil is. .

  • @groovyengineer Thank you for your kind words here. Please watch the Oscar nominated documentary GASLAND for expert analysis of the amount of drinking water made toxic with each FRACK. We need to develop

  • Obama will disappoint as usual. He has surrounded himself with bankers and lobbyists. Is there really a question which direction he'll go with this one?

  • Cannot wait to read the Monday morning headlines. I have no idea which way this will go.
