The Youtube suggestions for music vids (right), now evidently using a new algorithm, are really lame compared to how they used to be. Often the same suggestions, no matter what video I'm watching.

In fact, I made this video (slideshow) after about a six-pack, and was just "messing around" when I put it together. I'm a high school math teacher - not a historian. I think it took me all of an hour to make this.

@joltinjack With regard to Patton, you're right, he was a nut job, but he was also an American hero, and really the only one who knew how to defeat the Germans. In a sense he was right to want to go after Russia after WWII, the cold war was already beginning and American's wanted to stop communism before it became too powerful. Britain was ready to do the same thing, but since their nation suffered more then ours during WWII, they didn't really have the resources or will power to go after Russia

@ranxecito - I've responded to this before, i.e., JFK just happened to be in the picture. It is Khrushchev (also in picture - Vienna Summit of '61) who wanted to start little "fires of liberation" (small wars) all around the world. I was just toying around when I made the video...over a six pack. Don't take it too seriously. I think it took me all of one hour to make it.
JFK did increase the number of "advisers" in Viet Nam, and aborted a plan to withdraw from Viet Nam in 1963. Although not the worse president he was no saint either as some people paint him

The boisterous Russian leader somewhat pushed Kennedy around at this meeting, vowing to "remove the splinter" from the heart of Europe (he was threatening to invade West Berlin). It was Khrushchev who wanted to start and stir the fires of revolution around the world, hoping to plant a hammer & sickle flag in every third world country.

@triviumnik - No, not at all. I spent over an hour last night watching a show about the US Exhibition in Moscow in 1959. I find the Russian people and the history of Russia fascinating. First, russia, while losing enormous numbers of soldiers in WWII put up a bigger fight than we did and were certainly at least as instrumental to winning as we were, they in fact reached Berlin before we did and stalingrad made the battles on the western front look like little skirmishe, second, Britain certainly wouldn't have fallen they had won the battle of britain without any help from us

If you'll notice my disclaimer in "more info.", and peruse this comment section, you'll see where I've stated that I didn't think these icons wanted to rule the world, but they sure were domineering in their tenure. In fact, I made this video (slideshow) after about a six-pack, and was just "messing around" when I put it together. I'm a high school math teacher - not a historian. I think it took me all of an hour to make this.

@TheJake1005 tell that to the Warsaw Pact, my uncle lived under them, he lived in Free Poland, he'd fought the Germans, watched the Russians abandon them at the 2nd Battle of Warsaw, he always refereed to them as the Soviets, not the Polish government that oppressed him, they were a super power just like the US they both wanted the same thing, not in the traditional sense, USA won and they "rule the world" but they don't as we think of in fiction and such, that's what I got from it, k thx bye :)

@joltinjack With regard to Patton, you're right, he was a nut job, but he was also an American hero, and really the only one who knew how to defeat the Germans. In a sense he was right to want to go after Russia after WWII, the cold war was already beginning and American's wanted to stop communism before it became too powerful. Britain was ready to do the same thing, but since their nation suffered more then ours during WWII, they didn't really have the resources or will power to go after Russia

I read your description and I agree.But if you should consider that their intentions were really aimed at philosiphy and governing their part of the world. I wouldn't consider them world rulers or conquerors. Some, I would even consider isolationist. More pictures of monarchs and kings. Less pictures of idealist and philosophers. Some of those other western European nuts fit rather wellthough

@Gproduct Reagan was also for high top notch security and military might. Sure he may not have openly campaigned for world dominance, but he did very much govern with a whole lot of firepower and militarism, so in that sense he really didn't implement a "smaller government" after all.

@ranxecito - I've responded to this before, i.e., JFK just happened to be in the picture. It is Khrushchev (also in picture - Vienna Summit of '61) who wanted to start little "fires of liberation" (small wars) all around the world. I was just toying around when I made the video...over a six pack. Don't take it too seriously. I think it took me all of one hour to make it.

The boisterous Russian leader somewhat pushed Kennedy around at this meeting, vowing to "remove the splinter" from the heart of Europe (he was threatening to invade West Berlin). It was Khrushchev who wanted to start and stir the fires of revolution around the world, hoping to plant a hammer & sickle flag in every third world country.

@triviumnik - No, not at all. I spent over an hour last night watching a show about the US Exhibition in Moscow in 1959. I find the Russian people and the history of Russia fascinating. Don't make me rehash history. Everyone knows that authoritarian communist regimes rule with an iron fist, and world domination was their quest. Khrushchev as much as said so himself.

First, russia, while losing enormous numbers of soldiers in WWII put up a bigger fight than we did and were certainly at least as instrumental to winning as we were, they in fact reached Berlin before we did and stalingrad made the battles on the western front look like little skirmishe, second, Britain certainly wouldn't have fallen they had won the battle of britain without any help from us

@plankpaine Third, we almost definitely would have joined the war at some point anyway, Roosevelt had been pushing for it for a long time, fourth this wasn't just some random attack, japan had to at least try to defeat us, they needed our oil, thats why they attacked in the first place we stopped shipping them oil which they desprately needed for their war machine, fifth how on earth would you know that germany was never going to attack us, were you there with Hitler?

@plankpaine Sure Hitler didn't attack us immediately, but he still wanted his so-called "Aryan Race" (which is a pretty stupid name for it if you know who the Aryans actually were but that's for another comment) to control the world and I'd be pretty suprised if he was going to settle for just Europe, and finally sixth, this hypothesizing is basically pointless because for pearl harbor not to have happened the war would have had to have changed in a pretty big way long before the actual attack
