Nice playing, a little out of tune on higher notes, and overall tone could be warmer. I prefer this movement taken a little slower. For a young player, well done.
How I loved this piece. I haven't played for years after graduating, but still this is my favorite. Makes me want to pick my trombone back up tomorrow and play it! High notes would kill me after 3 years break...
Would like to hear him play the rest. The first movement is the most boring of the three. I have my students do 2 and 3 for Solo and Ensemble...the middle is slow and beautiful and the last far more technical than this movement. He is good, though.
@susanmg13 Why not let your students do what they would like to play? Most high schoolers, young college players would have more fun with the first movement. It is fun to get on the triplets for young players.
@WrightTenorBone I am working with high school kids...I teach this to a good 9th or 10th grader, most of whom are a year from having a reliable high Bb. Plus, when I began teaching it at all, I asked a university prof for his opinion, and he said that 2 and 3 were best for showing off a really good high school student. Since the kids get 1's at state with it, and since they are allotted 8 minutes, this is what we do. It is not a question of someone wanting do play 1 and I say no.
@susanmg13 I am a sophomore in high school so I understand wanting to show off. But I had ALOT more fun discovering the expressive side of the first movement rather than being spoon fed expression in the second and third movements. Just my opinion though, I don't want to insult your teaching. If you could, please go to my channel and view my recording of the David Concertino and give some advice.
the orchestra should be a background...not really too present......just on this recording the accomp. seems a little too loud...trombone player's good though
