Im 17 and I remember getting sent to the head masters office when I was 8 because I couldnt stop laughing at the "how gay your life must be" line, I wish i could say I've changed :(
This song was not present where I grew up in America, In fact, I've never heard of the Kooka until about 2 years ago when i found a pack of kookaburra licorice from austrailia (excellent licorice i must add) Then I looked it up, found it was the classic warner brothers cartoon jungle ambience and was blown away! Plus they look awesome I wish I could have one as a pet but they should be in the wild/zoos/or rescue centers!
Thank you for sharing. I was trying to share this song with my 14 y/o nephew. I just could not believe he had never heard it. It was one of my favorites coming up. I can not begin to tell you how many videos I've gone through, trying to find the original version of this song. They were awful. Some songs just should not be remixed. How refreshing to finally find one that stayed true to the original!
I came to listen to this song out of the curiosity of the Men at work lawsuit. I don't know, do the Men at work classic song, "Land down under" sound close to this nursery rhyme?
I heard this on Doctor Who, believe it or not. But the only lyrics was the first verse, "Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree, merry merry king of the bush is he. Laugh, Kookaburra, laugh, Kookaburra gay your life must be".
This is heard in the Tikkabilla Cbbbies program all the time when my kids watch it, we all try and sing in turn like the "row, row, row ya boat, try it with your kids. Its fun and have u doubled over in laughter. i love it. :)
