NICE Video... I do alot of snapper fishing out Fort Lauderdale Fla. I'm watching this and thinking time to get back out there and catch some more.... What kind of camera's are them? GoPro ? TIGHT LINES!
@beall101 - This is an answer I gave today to a question on another vid - I'm only using 2-4 kg graphite rods with 1500 size reels loaded with 6lb braid and 8-10lb flurocarbon leader. I usually use 1/8oz jighead and size 2 hook in 3-8 metres of water. First bit of advice is to make sure the plastic is on straight so that it doesn't spin on its way down, and make sure you get the plastic on the bottom before a pause and then two quick rips up.
@171rhino Thanks for the tips, but from this video your using baits right? I just wants to know what kind of bait and rig do you use to catch those fantastic snappers? do you use a sinker as well to get the bait down the bottom?
I friend of my caught a 75cm snapper on the weekend while he was with me on a kayak while trolling using a hard body. I think will have a couple of rods out and rigged 2 rods with soft plastics and the other with baits.
@beall101 - Oops yeah you're right, wrong vid LOL. The rods are generally 4-7kg with 3000 and 4000 size reels, 15lb braid to a swivel and about one metre of 40lb flurocarbon leader. I run the smallest sinker possible between the swivel and a single 4/0 or 5/0 circle hook with a fluro green and also a red bead.. Pillies in this vid but I prefer fresh squid in rings, strips and the heads. KGW heads have caught some bigger fish. Nice fish of your mates. Was that PPB?
nice video :) never fishied for snapper from a kayak yet only halibut and calico bass. snapper looks fun gota try it! are you using weights on your line? or just letting the bait free?
I love your vids Rhino. Keep them comming. only new to Mel. Looking for some spots and your vids give a pretty good location. 1 question (I'm a woos) are you afraid outthere in such a small craft.......my sphinkter gets tight just watching how close you are to the water. (too many Jaws movies) - anyway will keep looking for your vids - thanks again
@Plumpkinman812 - Not a pro mate, just lots of time on the water. With bait fishing try to use a little weight as possible and also the freshest bait. Also, as I think I say in this vid, always burley first before baits. I set a timer for 10-15 mins to check the rods and set fresh baits. Works for me.
This video is fantastic. I'm inspired to run out and go buy a kayak and follow in your footsteps. I've tried local to me which is Beaumaris Pier but had no luck at all this morning, no bites either.
great videos mate, i like your music choice, coz when me and dad go yakking his radio station is the older music, so it makes mee feel like im going :P
One question if I ,may? What do I need to look for in regards to the weather to have such calm waters? everytime we go up to Port Phillip bay its always rough, cheers brother.
Hi Rhino, how essential do you think having a sounder is when you're chasing the reds in the bay this time of year? If I can get into 10m +, are the odds of finding them pretty good regardless, or are you looking for particular features on the bottom etc? Thanks
@ChannelClem - I feel naked without it. There's not much structure where I am in 10 metres. Just a big mud paddock basically. Typically we are just looking for the one single arch on the bottom. Drop the pick, burley and wait.
@jono4365 - These cameras are HD GoPro cameras. If you are somewhere near Geelong you can get them at Action Kayak and Sail on Portarlington Rd. Otherwise do a google search.
how much was the fishfinder and is it a gps too great snapper we went out last weekend with five of us and got 15 good ones had to put some back put we were in a boat :p

What model is your go pro camea, and does it take normal pictures as well.
jono4365 3 months ago
@jono4365 - They are HD GoPros and yes they can also take stills. I'll upgrade to the Hero2 soon. Better video, better stills.

Hey brother. Great videos. What pole did you mount your rear facing go pro on? I like how it sits high and has and angled view of the angler.
