  • awesome! reminds me of the UAV from battlefield: bad company 2

  • The AH-6X should be able to be controlled out of a UH-60 Black Hawk and the new UH-1Y and the AH-1Z Viper. for Marine use. You should also be able to control Fire Scout UAV's from these helicopters.

  • Kids should never have youtube.

  • @Brandonx50 yes so true little kids who don't know what the hell they are talking about and get their info off of cod games

  • Modern Warfare = Gay and Fictional.

This is reality, please figure out the difference.

  • What is it with people and modern warfare 2? Jeez get a life

  • Care Packages have never looked more scary... :P

  • Dear Santa...

  • Care package ready for your mark lol!

  • Best RC as of now(except a Reaper armed with sidewinders of course).

  • soo creepy

  • In fact, this program has not been cancelled. Look up "Boeing AH-6" on Wikipedia.

  • Care Package

  • Some kewl technology.

  • The future weapon is a fucking remote controlled helicopter lol!

  • Great, until you realise that the air defense systems they were targeting had a range of 2km greater than that of a hellfire. This is assuming they're a basic Tunguska system. If they were versing more advanced systems, the helicopters would be tracked from 25km and engaged from 12 km (50% greater than hellfire range).

I am sure having a mobile spotter would be good in many scenarios, but not the one that Boeing displayed.

  • The thing i don't understand about this scenario is that the littlebird is somehow able to get visual on the Anti-aircraft (which would presumably threaten the apache), yet not get shot down by the ads?

Another thing I don't understand about this scenario is that a basic Russian air defense system has a range of over 10km, while a hellfire from an apache only has a range of 8km. No matter what happens, the air defense system will have a 2km window to kill the apache.

  • Looking forward to try this in ArmA 2 Operation Arrowhead.

  • haha >:D imagine what would happen if they did the same to the apache. muahahahAAHAHAHAHAHA :D

  • I second that evil laugh MWAHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!

    *rubs hands maniacly*

  • Kuddos for posting this video!!!!

  • I don't understand: is someone at base flying the helicopter or is it flying itself?

  • you load a flight plan and it dose it by its self, no remote control from base

  • Both. It can be controlled with both methods.

  • I think the people who are flying the apache are also able to control the littlebird.

  • I was just thinking, ok, this is basically remote control-ish, won't it be jammable one way or another? I mean, they can jam radar, they can jam the jammers, they can jam the jammers that jam the jammers... surely there'll be a jam for this one, right?

  • i see where your getting at< in the end there'l be jammers that jam the jammers that jam the jammers that jam the jammers and it will keep going on like the number pie (or however you spell it)

  • This system would be great until someone hacked it and turned it around and sent it back after you.

  • what if the use an apache to control a uav apache?

  • If you didn't know about it being unmanned... That would freak you out.

  • I wish they would do this to the commanche

  • for whatever reason... they scrapped the commanche......

  • because it couldn't meet the requirements of changing operational environments

  • They decided that after pouring close to a billion dollars into it that the program was too expensive. Crazy.

That Little Bird would be great until someone hacked it and turned it around back at you.

  • lol i can see it now....

achmed! achmed! do u see that, that attack helicopter is flying with no pilot, what in allah's name is it?" achmed says' RUN! RUN! RUN!, OMAR ITS A TERMINATOR!!! , TRUST ME I SAW MOVIE, Terminator rise of machines, RUN BEFO......( GUN FIRING)

  • hahaha

    LOL!

    xD

  • You're hilarious m8, I thumbs upped ya.

  • @phonix032 lol

  • i wonder if the uav system is more expensive then the apache

  • do you include R&D costs?

  • oh, wow. cool, death to the enemy!

  • F-16's used to Rip over the enemy, drawing their "ignorant" fire, then the a-wax would read and relay that position to the A-10 warthog.... BOP!! x1000 in one minute(way too much)..... depleted uranium farming for the next 500 years....... THIS saves the LIVES of many, and is more manuverable and versitile.. truly awsome... and scary. glad it's on the right side... all they have to do is stop computer hacking now.... HAHAHAHAHA...oh ya... crap..... terminator has been born.......

  • You could probably get it to fly 2 wounded men to safety, freeing more pilots into helping the ones on the ground that are still alive.

  • It's alright but I think it'll be useful for sending in supplies and short ranged medevac only.

The whole thing about controlling it from an Apache is... well I think it's going to overload the Apache crew.

Seems a bit expensive for something to send forward to get blown up. At least a crew can perform evasives and react to situations faster.

I am a fan of UAVs but I think this one is getting close to a miss rather than a hit.

  • It's just a Little Bird that finally has digital capabilities. They just took the FD concept from 47's and 60's and tossed it into a 6. really cool idea and great for certain tasks, but I still wouldn't rely on a UAV over a A or B Co. 1/160th pilot.

  • Awsome clip

  • What song plays at 0:43

  • Probably made by Discovery it self.

  • What happens when an RPG is coming at you and there's special forces sitting on the skids and theres not a human flying it? I doubt a computer can maneuver evasively like an experienced pilot.

  • Spot on friend. Another example is: would you want a robot to carry out a gun run like "danger close" ....

  • @MH6M i agree with u on that but its still pretty kickass to have an unmanned scout ahead of your apache formation

  • @MH6M as long as the gps coordinates are given correctly by the ground crew

  • @MH6M Actually I would. I understand that the pilots are well over-trained but the AI can easily aim much better.

  • The idea is to have a back up automated system if the pilot is killed, etc, or if the commanders deem it to dangerous to send a pilot into an extraction point/med evac. :D

  • What confuses me a little is the following: If the LC is considered too hot for sending in a pilot wouldn't the extraction be dangerous for the evacuee too?

  • @JoelD311 that may be true but if it hits the little bird you don't have to go to any families and explain why their son?daughter isn't coming home

  • @JoelD311 A person is still flying it, just from a remote location

  • @JoelD311 you have to remember that humans are still flying it, just not sitting in the cockpit.

  • AWESOME GREAT ^_^

  • i love the looks of the loach heli

  • has anyone here been in the shits, and had a little bird with a supers backup save their ass??? If you dont know what the shits or super is then, your answer is definitely "no."

Agility is key, the little bird can go into a hot LZ, and getting your ass outta there...

  • Please explain "supers" , i have a feeling your talking about uh-60s but im not sure, The shits=firefight? being under fire or just generally having a shitty time.. at war.

  • if you are in the shits, there is no better bird you want to get in, get you, and get the fuck outta dodge. virsatility is key...

P.S. has anyone here ever been in the shits with a little bird or super?

    if not, SHHHHHHH....

If I have to explain the shits, or super then your answer is "no".

  • If the Little Bird is sent on recon, how can it defend itself against enemy AA-fire and SAM? It's a light helicopter and I doubt it can take very much punishment...

  • speed and stealth

  • if you call 110 knts fast.

  • @DreadnoughtFIN If you fly under about 100 meters off of the ground, you are undetectable by radar.

  • Ohh sh--- he's in Mesa.. they are the ones who open up the portal.

  • They're going to spend millions just to figure out all they need is a pair of mark one eyeballs

  • You know what, they thoughgt they'd have unmanned aircraft when the F-105 came out, and here we are nearly fifty years later with manned aircraft. They're going to end up spending millions only to figure out that all an aircraft needs is a pair of Mark One Eyeballs.

  • yeah great idea but if you are in apache and you still fighting is better then with robots

  • this ia a great idea...the best ship too !!

  • in the future there gonna train hamsters to fly choppers

  • i'm in helicopter flight school.. i'm offended.

  • im pretty sure he meant, helicopters are becoming so small and compact now.

  • flying a helicopter is very hard, but I think you could defend it a little better than just saying you are offended.

  • nah, humanoids

  • that would be funny for a person in a 3rd world country in wartime to see a heli flying without pilots

  • lol i live in cuba

  • How come this show isn't on discovery anymore??

  • Little birds are the coolest... Check em out in Black Hawk Down

  • Doesn't it seem a waste to send a Little Bird ahead of an Apache, instead of a little robot UAV that can do the same thing?

    Just a thought.

  • because they wanted something that could be both manned and unmanned... otherwise yes using a smaller cheaper attack bot would be better.

however something that size has much more versatility and room to grow.

  • This is more reasonable than the others i've seen

  • Kill those Towel heads! Ooorah! (13B)

  • In the Vietnam war, the little bird traditionally scouted ahead of the Cobras...it's nice to see they have kept the tradition alive (and their enemies dead?! hahah)

  • Now you can fly while flying. Nice

  • This is a really good idea.

  • Ya, Next time we can one guy controling 100 tanks, 50 apaches and 20 little birds.

  • ever played command and conquer? lol

  • cool.... but there goes the enjoyment of flying

  • Right on ! What the pleasure of being a pilot if you don't have any stick time...

  • Well, the appeal wears thin if you are being fired at.

  • yeah true, but it would be cool to control it from the apache

  • love apache

  • hopefully you'll get a chance to taste its power...i mean literally from the ground perspective:)

  • Not exactly. The OH-6 LOAH was indeed in the movie, but the AH-6 is heavy modified version of the OH-6.

  • That apache contolling the littlebird is th cleanest shit ever...

  • haha I was just about to upload this clip and you beat me by one day! :)

  • Sweet. I love this show.

  • very nice
