This guys playing and instruction is not so bad that anyone should be criticizing him. I'm a percussionist and I would never offer criticism without putting up a video of my own to support my mouth. if any of you think you could teach better then please do so otherwise your just being a jerk, and it's reasonable to assume that you yourself suck at percussion concepts.

He is playing the darbuka like djembe only on the side. Look at his other videos, He's a djembe player. The darbuka is a finger drum primarily and the full hand is only used when playing louder strokes or rolls. Do not play with your whole hand from the beginning. Learn to play with your ring fingers first for the Tek and Ka.

If your looking to learn the darbuka properly please look at some other videos

If your just starting playing doumbek and you see this video PLEASE PLEASE take OFF your RINGS!!!!!!! THAT IS RULE # 1 before you even pick up the drum. You can damage your drums bearing edge,not to mention your Rings.
