If you are a good illusionist, dual cast a powerful calm spell on one of these briarhearts, then crouch in front of them and simply remove it. No need to fight, unless for the xp.

well the making of a briarheart warrior is riping the original heart out and puting the briarheart in the chest from the small hole in his chest. so the briarheart is a item making it so that you can pickpocket it thus killing the briarheart. also hagravens do this and then put the original heart in a bowl and mutter some mumbo jumbo and poof you have a briarheart foresworn.

I managed to do this. Quite an interesting way to kill them, especially if you are weak with combat but powerful in stealth.

Only problem is that these guys are really powerful in terms of sensation, and can easily detect people. Novice stealth people have absolutely no chance against these guys with this method.
