I'm a bisexual. I like boys and girls in different ways though and I go through phases in which I prefer having fun with men and other times I like fun with women. I suppose it's strange. Sexuality can be complex, as well as sexual orientation. Glad you don't view bisexuality as a "cop out" anymore, believe me... those of us in the bisexual community have grown weary of that stereotype (among others).
Just be comfortable with who you are and don't worry about labels too much. Trust me... sooner or later, someone else will come up with a label for you (rolls eyes). Eventually, people will realize that all aspects of life are shades of grey - not black and white.

Don't freak bi's, but when someone says they're bi, they are usually just straight or gay. 'Bi' is an overused term. I see kids saying they're bisexual when they show no attraction to one sex, and total affection for the other. Sometimes it's a trend (Not always) but I would say a good 8/10 people who say they're bi, are either just straight or gay. If you ever noticed, 'Bi' was never heard of in the 70's. It's normally used for publicity, or for usage to gain respect from gays and straights.

My argument for people who tell me to pick a side is to ask if they ever had to choose. I know that i am attracted to both guys and girls. I find it more offensive when gay people find bisexuality a cop out because of all the people who treat homosexuality as a choice or something that can be fixed. I feel that they should have more insight than that.
In my personal life, I have never had any bisexual friends who have EVER decided to stay bi. All of them eventually radiated to their own gender. This is not a criticism but just a personal experience of my friends. Whether age or maturity influenced the decision none of them really know. Could it be a quality, maybe, who knows. The only thing I know is that I think we discuss and analyse it way too much like everything else in the world

I'm bisexual and I'm a 14 year old girl and the second time I brought it up to my mom, she told me she was mad about that and she didn't want to talk about it anymore.
@StunDeximExuled I had a similar thing with my mom when I was 15 - she wasn't mad, but she refused to believe me and said I was too young to know something like that and that (according to her) bisexual people were some micropercentage of the population, so it wasn't "likely." By the time I was 22 (I know, long wait!) she got to the point where she realized she'd been wrong about stuff and accepted me. So don't give up hope that one day your mom might change. :)

Sexuality can be complex, as well as sexual orientation. Glad you don't view bisexuality as a "cop out" anymore, believe me... those of us in the bisexual community have grown weary of that stereotype (among others).
Just be comfortable with who you are and don't worry about labels too much. Trust me... sooner or later, someone else will come up with a label for you (rolls eyes). Eventually, people will realize that all aspects of life are shades of grey - not black and white.

Don't freak bi's, but when someone says they're bi, they are usually just straight or gay. 'Bi' is an overused term. I see kids saying they're bisexual when they show no attraction to one sex, and total affection for the other. Sometimes it's a trend (Not always) but I would say a good 8/10 people who say they're bi, are either just straight or gay. If you ever noticed, 'Bi' was never heard of in the 70's. It's normally used for publicity, or for usage to gain respect from gays and straights.

My argument for people who tell me to pick a side is to ask if they ever had to choose. I know that i am attracted to both guys and girls. I find it more offensive when gay people find bisexuality a cop out because of all the people who treat homosexuality as a choice or something that can be fixed. In my personal life, I have never had any bisexual friends who have EVER decided to stay bi. All of them eventually radiated to their own gender. This is not a criticism but just a personal experience of my friends. Whether age or maturity influenced the decision none of them really know. Could it be a quality, maybe, who knows. The only thing I know is that I think we discuss and analyse it way too much like everything else in the world

Behaviorally, there are more men who engage in same-sex contact to some degree than 100% straight and 100% gay combined - and it may be even higher for women. What matters is who attracts us, not what - and whom we love, not which. I do not choose my attraction - it chooses me. @StunDeximExuled I had a similar thing with my mom when I was 15 - she wasn't mad, but she refused to believe me and said I was too young to know something like that and that (according to her) bisexual people were some micropercentage of the population, so it wasn't "likely." By the time I was 22 (I know, long wait!) she got to the point where she realized she'd been wrong about stuff and accepted me. So don't give up hope that one day your mom might change. :)
