what you guys don't get is I'm not saying Bill Murray isn't awesome in this movie, because he is. He's unbelievable in it. I laugh my ass off everytime I find it on tv. Chevy Chase is good too. But the movie as a whole, is so overrated. I mean doesn't anyone else realize how badly it skips around to these pointless storylines? Like what's the point of the pool scene? Or the subplot of Danny and his gf? It's not funny and rather annoying. All I'm saying is the movie is no better than two stars.

@ADion03 I agree with you here. I think there's a conversation in the tv show Freaks and Geeks that explains it best. That there are some amazing scenes that are really funny, but you can't tell me what happens in the middle of that movie, because it's boring and all over the place. All the Bill Murray scenes are outstanding, Rodney Dangerfield is great but after seeing the movie a few times now, those are the only parts that stick out.

If you want to see a great comedy that features outstanding comedic performances, quotable lines, etc. and a story that flows, Dumb and Dumber is that movie. Best comedy of all time in my opinion.

Dumb and Dumber is no where near my favorite comedies list, I really don't like that movie at all and the Farrelly brothers are terrible directors. @atork88 well everybody has different taste but if you're looking for a comedy film with a great comedic duo (timing, etc. all there), classic moments and quotable lines with a story that doesn't jump around and bore you -- Dumb and Dumber has it all with JC in his prime. I'm not necessarily a big Farrelly bros. fans, but that movie is a gem.

Other great comedies are Ace Ventura 1, Christmas Vacation, Planes, Trains and Automobiles, Wedding Crashers, Old School, Big Daddy and The Big Lebowski.
