  • 1 of the realest brothers out there LOWLIFE NIGGER IDIOT

  • THIS is mose def true. most definitely

  • BBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBBRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHAHAHAA LETS GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

  • @DomincanXpanther SHUT THAT SHIT HOLE............. NIGGER MONKEY TRASH

  • stop treeting music like its a spice, it the universal language

  • Love mos def.

  • Rap came from good old white boys with no soul. They couldn't sing so the talked over music tracks. James Dean's big bad john, any of Jerry Reeds, such as Amos Moses. (Jerry had soul though).

Black music of the soul singers has escaped fom the culture, resulting in no soul, no singing, rap and hip hop. A culture who lost their heritage.

  • BULL shit bro rappping came from jazz houses in the 1910 and 1920s from people writing short stories to jazz songs in front of an audience a prime example of this would be langston hughes

  • Short stories in front of people set to music? Like European folk songs?

  • nah the culture that counts hipnhop originated from an urban enviroment not white ppl and its influence is jazz and dance hall because hip hop was vasically started by jamaican emigrants listen to the base lines and the flow polus folk song are singing this is rapping speaking wich poets did in front larg masses to the beat of the band but they did not sing read some langston hughes bra you will knw what im talking about or gill scott heron whitey on the moon

  • Music is poetry set to a beat. White people are not urban?

All been done before by other cultures not just blacks. Music was formed by the masses, not an individual.

  • masses of black ppl

  • hip hop is black music

classical music is white music ok i never said MUSIC was made by black ppl although most of it in a america was

  • and yes black urban youth made jazz not white urban people

  • Hip hop is Jazz? Mel Torme is laughing.

  • Music transcends race.

  • no not really how u gonna argue and its not even ur culture ur arrogence amazes me and how is hip hop jazz is buster williams or roy ayers playing live with mos def when he doese concerts no ITS HIP HOP and its instruments consist of mpcs mics turn tables and synsthizeirs im done

  • Guitar was invented in India.

Folk music, swing, big band, jazz/scat (Mel Torme) Gospel, etc, etc all had multicultural roots, including rock and roll.

I guess the Native American music came from Africa also? Sheesh!

  • but i think its the rythm and the way the are played

  • lol why you acting like somebody said everything came from africa...rock n roll was a black thing ..accept it or not.

thats not what i' ve heard about the guitar..what are your sources?

of course those music styles had multicultural roots, but the black/african roots arent mentioned much..even if they had the biggest impact....

if it wasnt for mos def i still would think that rock n roll was invented by white people...

  • same thing as calling eminem the best rapper of all time....simply ridiculous...

if people like mos def dont tell the truth, especially to young people who dont learn it in school,in 100 years people are going to think eminem was the most important rapper of all time

  • Why did he steal the title to a Rolling Stone song? (Brown Sugar)

  • This song is so sick...but whys he gotta be so hard on the white folks just cause they're white?

  • dont be so ignorant

  • all aMERICAN music, with the exception of country (which was once called hillbilly), is rooted in African culture...do some research for any doubts you may have.

  • No it wasn't. Jazz and blues had multi-cultural roots along with rock and roll. Same with Gospel. Delta blues, ,Memphis blues, detroit blues, it's all good.

Rap, talking and rhymin to the beat has roots back in the 50's and 60's with the likes of Jimmy Dean and Jerry Reed. Mix it reggae and boom.

Instead of running people down, he should be praising those who went before him. There are plenty of other people that deserve credit. Pretty petty stuff to sell records.

  • yo,those white folks you've mentioned didn't influence rap not a thing..Rap has roots yes that's right and it definitely wouldn't be a white guy,you should know the Last poets,Kool herc,In late 70's GrandmasterFlesh, afrika Bambataa and the Sugar Hill Gang..The style of talking while music plays is african, still uptodate they play drums and talk and at times sing,so don't get it twisted..It developed from culture

  • Charlie Pride, one of the pioneers of country music was African-American.

  • glammetal sounds likely a little jealousy to me...mos def has an opinion...he is clearly stating that. Your calling someone an idiot who has more worldly influence than you'll probably ever have...not to say your lame, but you can get there to with hard work.Opinions are meant to be opinions. I think that you are a serious elvis fan angry when someone talks about your artists, best adive to you-grow, and enjoy music, and stop spreading hate...hi hater.

  • ewashington4178 : Still doesn't mean his opinions are right. I'm challenge them. When someone makes stupid comments I challenge them. Everybody has an influence in this world. I'm not a serious Elvis fan brah. I'm a serious Rock N' Roll fan, nah slash that I"m a serious music fan.

  • He said elvis ain't got no soul? HAhahaha he doesn't know what the fuck soul is then. Even James Brown said Elvis had soul.

When he talks about Rolling Stones not comin up with the style on their own is funny. Yes they did come up with it on their own but they have influences from black and white artist. Mos Def is the most dumbest person I've yet heard. Shut the fuck up and don't tak when you have no clue. Makes you look ignorant.

  • Is this song about the new world order?

  • mos def has no image cause he dont want 1 he is under ground and 1 of the realest brothers out there

  • The troll is strong with MrRoxoo

  • none of this shit is ignorant you dip shit, and he isn't racist dude. I don't know where you getting all this fucked up thoughts from man clean your self fool

  • it's not about hating on Elvis, it's about exposing the tendency to credit white artists with being music's greats when black artists were often the true pioneers. try to see it from a broader perspective.

  • tomaszbethell: What? If you want to talk about true pioneers, then black artist steal because the piano was invented by a white European. And it said that the guitar was invented by white Europeans. Big Mama Thornton is a stealer because hound dog was written by two white guys and so many other songs. Also a lot of black people in Jazz, electric blues, etc are stealers since the electric guitar was invented by a white guy. Try to see it from a broader perspective *roll eyes*

  • It's pathetic when even your musical taste is racist! Wow

  • cynikalone : How are my musical taste racist. Explain yourself. I'm a quarter black, half white. Who am I racist against? Elvis wasn't racist.

  • instrument simal to the guitar existed long times before the europeans had it...in africa

  • what is it

  • the kalimba

  • rolling stone took their name from muddy water song where is the credit to that. did you know that? and if you know many people don't and elvis did rip off chuck songs, but nobody cares or know that fact that many of the 50's band ripped off blues players and took their songs

  • 1moomed23 : Rolling Stones already said that you big dumbass thas how people know. Elvis didn't rip off Chuck Berry's songs you fucking idiot. He COVERED some Chuck Berry songs. You don't talk about Chuck Berry basing his song Maybellene on Bob Wills' versions of Ida Red. Or Chuck Berry's johnny B Goode opening riff is a rip off from Louis Jordan's Ain't That Just Like a Woman. Adivce: Don't talk about shit you have no clue about. You end up looking lik this fool Mos def.

  • mosdef is so sick this is real rap

  • Man I been rocking this album and the new joint all month. New World Water is a monsta!

Keep Dropping that mad scientific flow bro!

  • genius and very creative. Love it. classic to me. This real hiphop not some weak soulja boy crap.

  • new world water is brilliant, straight up lyrical genius..rock N roll is a great catchy song, except a bit controversial..rock and roll is an absolutely classic genre and im not suer how much mos needed to touch upon it

  • hes talking about how artists/music corporations took black music at the time called Rhythm and Blues put a white face on it - elvis etc. and called it rock and roll, but they did rip it straight off the African American community, yes those artists were good, but the guys who created rock and roll weren't really credited at all till now, guys like chuck berry etc were the real originators, not elvis.

  • the rolling stones may be white but at least mick jagger can sing. unlike mos, who should stick to things he's good at (rapping).

its too bad mos spends so time talking about how white people dont have souls. i understand he's trying to make a point, but why is he talking shit about good artists just cause theyre white? i mean elvis is awesome. why does mos only listen to black artists? he really shouldnt talk shit about white people when he cant rock for shit.

  • Bad brains have clout. and hes been linked with them for a long time now. he sucks at rock though. i think hes ws trying to make a point that alot of concepts were developed by different artist who didnt recieve the credit. saying there devils or whatever is brooklyn bull sssh

  • The next major world war will be fought over water

  • "Kenny G Ain't go no soul;

John Coltrane is Rock 'n' Roll"

    Love that line.

  • O.k so I know this song is about water and deep content but I can really get busy to this song on the dance floor. lol who said thought provoking music cant be danceable. I would give a guy the business to this song. did I just say dat? lmao

  • yeah this song is fucking sick i never listened to mos def before, but tomorrow im going to buy Blackstar, Black on Both Sides, New Danger, True Magic and The Ecstatic

  • Yeah Mos is like one of them dudes you overlook and then hear his stuff one day and say where was I and Y. lol Where you going to see them?? I'm going to see Dead Prez on the 21st!!! I like Rebel Revolutionary music!

And what is Zodiac talking about. Mos don't dislike white ppl he just saying how white folk stole stuff fr us...which is fact!! What is American, that has not been stolen fr another culture?? Just saying..

  • tom brown jr says you can only go 24 hrs without water before brain damage is likely.

how long can you live on soda-pop?

try puttin peace of meat into a glass of it an come back in an hour an find out.

some places soda-pop is less expensive than bottled water, and you don't want to drink the tap water. as bob marley said "a hungry mob is an angry mob" what would you call a thirsty mob? insurgency or revolution? or just thirsty folks. we'll probably find out soon enough.

  • :-/ i'm pretty sure this is about water. i think he's using it as a metaphor for the effects of runaway capitalism but i don't think he is saying water = money.

  • This is a literal song, it's about the world bank/Coca cola/Nestle etc going into third world countries and pumping out all the water and then the west wonders why all these countries are dying of dehydration and famine. When they have no water they can't grow crops.

A documentary on this subject is Flow: for the love of water

    THIS IS DIRECTLY ABOUT WATER

and money of course but water is not a metaphor

  • this song is about more than just water....water is symbolism for money. This song is about how corrupt our government is and how we are all being fed B.S.

  • @ midnightmarauder1: you are fucking stupid. this song is about WATER. period. this song is at least 9 years old (im almost 25 and remember it from when i was 16) and mighty mos called this shit out way before politicians were trying to build up south american countries not having water up for their platforms and loot. fuck you tool, educate yourself before you try to sound smart.

  • this song is deep! lyrics are deep.

  • viva la revolucion!!! fuck capitalism!!!! get ready for the shit to go down! it ain't about the color of your skin, it's the content of your charicter! keep it real!
