id forgotten how much i loved scotts voice, iv just found all these old songs on here, cant thank you enough for bringing all the memories back, scott is just fab !!!
I saw the Walker Brothers in 1966 and when I saw them live and heard Scott I was head over heels like many others. But to date the song 'First Love Never Dies' is very true, no one has ever taken his place.
A boy who fell in love with me more than 40yrs ago found me on fb on the other side of the world when he was terminally ill. Against all odds he survived nearly a year during which time our love was rekindled. He posted this for me, just before he died. I play it every day.
I saw the Walker Brothers many times in the 60's they were fabulous, this is my favourite ,just listen to the words it must be one of the best romantic songs ever !!!!!!!!!!!!
I still remember this song being played on the radio as I got ready for work during the 60s, I was going out with the stunning Suzy Jarvis, her father was a nasty little midget. One day he overheard me saying "he belongs in a circus" that was the end me.
@ruh1000 Yes they were!... In my opinion probably one of the best looking groups then... and Scott' s voice was out of this world, along with John's amazing harmonies, makes these songs ones you want to hear over and over.
When you sing and if you're thinking of me I felt you were singing that to me always...you are something special with a voice that no one can match xx
OOO! lovely ! Thankyou 4 posting. Gonna snag this 1 to my 'f.b' page for my lovely friend Irene. She was Scott's longtime girlfriend! So sad abt John. RIP John Walker Maus. XXX:0)
Excellent song which has had a few plays on oldies stations recently. Amazing to think how The Walkers bucked the trends of the day with their big ballads and amazing productions.
@MrMprinz This is one of the most beautiful love songs - if not the best - i know. Many Thanks to the Wallker Brothers , and to you for the post. With Greetings from Köln
You were my first love, and first love never ever dies....beautiful words written by Bob Morris and Jim Seals, and here sung by the awesome Walker Brothers, and full of 1960s AURA.
@spikeysmum Hi Scott Walker had a bit part in a few episodes of CSI, he played Katherine Willows father. As far as i know i think he is still alive :) xx
I fell in love with scott way back in the 60's when they sang the sun aint gonna shine anymore. Fabulous voice, great looking guy. Now this reminds me of a lost love who may, or may not come back. If he reads this maybe he will........
He sang so mature. I was such a little girl when I was a teenager. I can see blackpool promenade on a summers night and an e type jag driving along the road with a fab guy inside and me sat next to him. x memories.
Wow, what can I say about this man Scott Engel. I was born in 1948 and so i spent all of my teenage years and I was 21 in the 1960's. He had a natural voice, it was just another day at the office turning out this music. What a hell of a shame that he turned his back on it all so soon. I guess we should, and are thankful for all he left us. What wonderful memories of the sixties. Life was so much better then in a lot of ways, without money!
John Walker is on at the Kings Theatre in Southsea Portsmouth on 4th May this year - hell he looks old but bet he can still sing - he is performing with the Dakotas - remember them?
true love never dies , i still feel the same way about my true love even though we split up 20 years ago - makes life hard . what are you supposed to do?!
I thought I was the only one under 40-50 here who loves Scott. I was born 1972 and heard about him the first time 1992, when my sister brought me a tape from Ireland with Make it easy on your self and Johanna. Thank you María!!!
Anyone who loves the walker brothers should listen to a band called ,white and torch, the song is called parade. Its from the early eighties,ITS ON YOUTUBE.
The closest anyone got to reproducing scotts voice.
Scott Engel was my first love way back in the 60's over 40 years later I still love him, he has the best voice ever such amazing quality and tone. I just wish he'd stayed mainstream and then he wouldn't have disappeared. I saw the Walker Bros live in Leicester I think it must have been 1965. They were fantastic!! x
Scott Walker is The Walker Brothers. Actually they're not brothers. Now Scott Walker, is a musical genius. Hands down, enigma & all. So, I strongly suggest you have a listen to his prolific body of work, from the 60's moving onwards & upwards. The man is one of a kind. When God made Mr. Walker, he threw away the mold. Remember...* The New Is Old...The Old Is Strikingly New...*
@DreamPark9 Sorry but I don't intend to offend. How can you say Scott Walker is a genius when he only covered songs of other artist? Just asking. Peace.
Sir...A good thought. I'm not a fan of Elvis Presley, but all of his material was written by other writers. One more example. The song "You Showed Me" written by Jim M-[The Bryds]-His version is awful & he wrote the tune. The Turtles version is fantastic. What say you brotherjohn25... Sir...Peace*
@brotherjohn25 The Cascades ("Rythm of the Falling Rain") have a version of this. I'm not sure if they were the original artists, but it's a nice version.
guidofski I can't thank you enough for posting this. It has brought back so many memories. I was 11 years old when this was released. Loved it then and still do.
Love your pix sequences, 'specially the last one, with smiles and drinks all around.... John was def the best looking in a model kind of way, but Scooty's eyes just make one's heart melt. Sorry... Am I even allowed to gush here? Guida, thank you, ye're the star !
I wonder why I got a thumbs down for still loving this music now I am in my mid 5o's when I discovered it in my pre-teens. Aren't wrinklies allowed to apprecite music?
Of course they are, especially when they had the privilege to experience this kind of music first-hand! (I'm sure the thumbs down was there by mistake, anyway :))
I'm a 15 year old girl but then I really like this song and I can really relate to this! I love their voices! <3
