I don't understand how it's 'easily believable.' The Greens, according to the political compass (Google "political compass" to see what I mean. That's my reference for this.) are centre-left. Not really as extreme as I (and everyone else) actually thinks- just more left-wing in relation to the other parties who are actually father from the centre, and actually more extreme. @darkaus32 climate change tax is like an insurance you pay for the cost of having to combat the effects you are causing. if you have cars on the road, there's going to be accidents. if you emit C02, you are going to warm the planet. therefore we need to put in money to help ensure that the planet doesn't warm too much. if we don't, we'll have to pay the full price of the disaster we cause if we do nothing. and that might be more than we can ever afford.

At the end of the day, the Greens will never be attractive to the majority of the public until they make it clear where they stand - do they want to develop sustainable technology to cultivate the consumerist lifestyle we live now, or will they up taxes on everything so air conditioning, cars, electricity and water become unaffordable to the lower-middle class?
Sustainability, particularly in the light of Kyoto, is become more realistic all the time, without foregoing lavish creature comforts.

We need to foster a culture of wealth in this country not "everybody owes me something". Instead, have an attitude of "I can created my own wealth". This is the only way to grow a nations GDP. I'm a long time supporter of the Greens, but this ad is atrocious. The Greens need to broaden their horizons and not just focus on young, trendy metrosexuals. The message is very vague, and non-specific, besides the 6 months parental leave. It appears the ad caters for viewers of MTV - with all the backward walking. There's no weight, no policy, no stated objections. Who on earth came up with this? Probably a TAFE film student making a docu for his class about the Greens without any vocals.

I've been to rallies and the Greens were the only big party there to show support (along with some Rainbow Labor). Around the world Green parties have pushed for and achieved gay marriage rights. They're not saying give up technology, they are saying lets generate renewable energy, become world leaders in that technology, kick start green jobs, move away from dirty coal and embrace the future of clean energy. You can keep all the gadgets if you go with renewables. If not, you'll have your air conditioners and plasmas made from China and deserts outside that can't sustain us with food, plus millions of climate change refugees!

When I was in my teens back in the mid 80's we didn't have the internet, and we only had one computer in the house which our mum and dad supervised the usage of. Problem is that today's kids are spoilt and over-privileged - look at how many of them abuse mobile phones for bullying tactics for instance.

@darkaus32 climate change tax is like an insurance you pay for the cost of having to combat the effects you are causing. if you have cars on the road, there's going to be accidents. if you emit C02, you are going to warm the planet. therefore we need to put in money to help ensure that the planet doesn't warm too much. if we don't, we'll have to pay the full price of the disaster we cause if we do nothing. and that might be more than we can ever afford.

@nibblez1222 I never heard that is was the governments business to make money. They're here to set the balance between business wants and societies needs. Business wants money, no matter what, society wants health, fair pay, education, and infrastructure and human rights. Government, I think, is supposed to set the boundaries between those two groups. In particular, it should be on the side of the individual people, and the national interest.

@csmig23uk So you think pot smokers are generally rich? Far from it. Many greens are people who think relationships, communities, and the future generation are more important that short term profits. Of course some will be rich, but many of them aren't. Greens are very diverse, but all of them think about the future of the planet, future generations, and the future for endangered species. We only ask people to respect these things, because their future is in danger.
