  • Thanks!

Now, my instant prediction for Google is also working! :D

  • remember though that the hosts file is used to resolve server names to IP addresses, not too common but if something has a legitimate entry in the hosts file the service/program will stop working. just an fyi.

  • didn't work ive still got it 95p.com and mediashifting

  • Solved it! You're a kid and you're this good. Amazing...

  • IT WORKED.... For now anyway I Express my thanks kindly to you

  • Help please, i deleted al the files that said Host and I am still having this problem. Please help me.

  • got to etc. then all i have is.... Imhosts.sam

and windows will not let me open it says

    Windows can't open this file

    File: Imhosts.sam

to open this file, Windows needs to know what program you want to use to open it. Windows can go online to look it up automatically, or you can manually select from a list of programs that are installed on your computer.

What do you want to do?

    * Use the Web service

    * Select a program from a list of installed programs

what do I do now? thx

  • @cowboythefukup leave that file be "The LMHOSTS (LAN Manager Hosts) file is used to enable domain name resolution under Windows when other methods, e.g. WINS, fail." youtube dot com/watch?v=YGIT52jJTCA

  • i don,t find the hosts file please help!!!

  • It WORKED!! I just had to restart my computer in order for it to work

  • This absolutely worked. Specifically, the file that was causing this was named "Imhost.sam." After deleting that my redirect problems where gone. Also, I want to mention that the redirect problem started out as a once in a while type of thing then it progressed to very bad as in happening on every search. In addition, I was not only redirected from google but from yahoo (searches) as well. Finally, maylwarebytes nor spyware doctor worked. Thanks for taking the time to make the video.

  • Thx boy this really help. i was getting tired of that stupid redirect

  • Doesn't Work

  • This video was really helpful and i don't get redirect anymore thank you.

  • thanks alot i really appreciate it..for me i had to delete "hosts" and something called "icalendar hosts" once i did that my google browser went back to normal

  • @mandawg Not unless you know what your doing! :)

  • its called Trojan.Bayrob

  • I did this, but it only seemed to remove it temporarily. About 3 hours later I find myself with the virus again. :/

  • @schubes08 Yeah, like my main purpose here is to troll. Get over yourself. First off, I never modified it. I NEVER EVEN KNEW IT WAS THERE. Second, how was I supposed to know what that was going to do. So yes, therefor you are held responsible for screwed up machines that you influenced.

  • Don't delete the hosts files, as it may not be the problem, open up this file using notepad, and if there is any text below # 127.0.0.1 localhost , delete that, and you will have this problem no more!

  • @THEPO0PSMITH thank you so much, you are a true hero

  • @abr0hamlincon glad I could help :)

  • @THEPO0PSMITH wouldnt allow me to save changes to the host file. help pleez

  • @marcmoon1 Make sure you run notepad as an administrator.

  • @THEPO0PSMITH 99% sure I am. PC has only ! user acct. but notepad say I dont have permission to make changes. dont understand

  • @marcmoon1 You may have malware, or some sort of infection, try cleaning your computer with malwarebytes. its free. (malwarebytes. com) take out the spaces.

  • Guys here is the removal for the redirect virus. You need to check your Host file and lmHost file. You will see THOUSANDS of domain entries in their. Next open the registry and go to these 2 hives. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE & HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings\ZoneMap\Domains delete everything except microsoft. Also go to the Key P3P 2 folders up and delete the history. You will see THOUSANDS of entries! If you can replace the entire KEY on both Hives!!!

  • I couldnt even pull up google.com, I did this now it works screw all these dumb asses

  • It didnt work for me :( thanks though

  • its worked for me a big thanku for this

  • If you have a Google Redirect problem in Windows XP, check the file C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\hosts. It's a list of the IP addresses your browser must use for certain URLs. Some malware makes additions to the list, to redirect your browser's calls to Google and other search engines. These additions remain after the malware is removed and must be deleted by hand. The malware may also hide "hosts" from Windows and DOS: if you have Norton Internet Security, Power Eraser will find and fix it.

  • The only thing that helped me was combofix....Evidently, I had two viruses on my laptop..malwarebytes took the first one off, but didn't recognize GRV(google rediret virus) You just have to be careful with combofix...

  • I have a host file and a host new file do I delete host new? It says I need a administrator to delete it and I am the administrator so should I delete that?

  • Is the host file the actual virus itself?

  • works

  • @ProShoTproductions47 hi, go to drweb dot com and look under FREE SERVICES and click on CUREIT. your problem will be solved. This was developed by Russian IT security.
