If the product is refused, the government states that you are..by refusing..taking an action in a commercial transaction, they have the right to "regulate" that transaction. In the Obamacare bill, if you refuse to purchase healthcare, they can now regulate your refusal to purchase healthcare and fine you for not paying. Fines are possibly even intended as to help pay for the bill. Anyone standing up to the government must have the means to, therefore can afford to pay fines. Its rediculous.

This comes down to the commerce clause in the constitution, what it means for americans and for the states they reside in. The basic premise of the commerce clause is that it intends to regulate commerce between states by encouraging citizens to purchase products from companies outside their living area, usually large puchases from a state to state or business to business are all that applies. This law, states that any purchase of said product by any american is mandatory and can be regulated.

As for the influx of new patients, it won't be a major issue. Most of the health care reform won't take effect until 2013. There is plenty of time to hire more doctors, nurses and medical staff to handle new patients. The one thing the medical community is not happy about is that tort reform to minimize excessive malpractice law suits is not included. This should really be included in the health care reform, but should not stop health care reform from going forward.

If you hit someone w/ your car and have no ins, the government pays since the hospital needs to treat the "other guy" anyway. That's why auto ins is req'd. If you get diabetes or a heart attack and have no health ins, the government pays when you go to a hospital, so you need health ins. Think deeper and it'll make sense.

If the government charged everyone an amount to cover the uninsured use of medical services, that would be a tax. This just makes individuals responsible for their access to medical care.

The VA is inefficient and rated poorest quality care. Medicare/medicaid waste $1 to every $3 it spends. 50% of Doctors won't take medicaid and 30% of Doctors won't take any new medicare patients. Insurance Co. get away with what they do because they pad the pockets of politicians to pass the laws that benefit them at the consumer expense. Example of not being allowed to purchase across State line gives insurance cartels in each State. The Government is the problem of are high cost.

The insurance companies are commercial institutions. They are in business to provide a service and make a profit. These profits pay dividends to share holders, retirement funds, and other investors (including many average Americans). How much money should we allow them to make? What is a fair reward for hard work and risk taking?

You doctor is also part of the free market unless he works in a government hospital and is free to perform or not perform procedures as he deems necessary under any plan . The question of coverage of these procedures comes in when the decision is made on who pays, what do they pay for, and how much do they pay. Do you know what the public plan will cover? This would be good to know, especially if the Federal Government is going to control the whole system.

Good question. The gov't plan will cover all proccedures that's needed. The Gov't will have no say in what you and your doctor decides to do. That's how medicare works. Plus doctors are not allowed even now to not do a proceedure if as you say is to expense. That's just not done. Remember the doctor is "To do no harm".

Then again, "we" are not paying for sick patients who can't afford it and go to the ER. The hospital itself is, esp. if it's private. If it's public, technically taxpayers are footing the bill, but the hospital is pretty much an independent entity. You may have to pay higher costs, but you can choose NOT to attend that hospital and go to a cheaper one.
