This is the number 1 soundtrack on my wishlist to download or buy. Why is it impossible to get this or the original "Cocoon" soundtrack? (Number 2 on my wishlist). Both have deep emotional resonance & memories for me. I love Horner's orchestral themes & how both soundtracks have great swing tracks as well. At least "Cocoon 2 - The Return" is available on Itunes.

@timotomasu - I agree with you. Same problem here too; they do have the CD soundtrack on Amazon but it is used and very expensive - one price quoted was $100! Too bad, because the music on this film was the best.

Billy May did orchestrations for this film (as well as a number of Horner's other 1980s films)....May worked with Sinatra, Ella Fitzgerald, Nat "King" Cole, and Bing Crosby....back in the late 1980s, Horner was a big fan of '40s swing music.
