  • vocals on the bridge are transcendental

  • @DrAugustusValdes,

Agreed... some of Jerry's finest guitar work ("Laughing") and vocals ("Loser") were from the 1970 PERRO Sessions (Planet Earth Rock And Roll Orchestra) with David Crosby, and their work on David's incredible 1971 solo album "If I Could Only Remember My Name."

  • Wow. I thought I've heard all of Jerry's records. Never heard about this before. It's great. I once saw David at a Dead who trying to blend in, smoking a J. It was funny b/c at that time I believe he was on probation for smoking pot or something. It think it as in LA around `89 or so....

  • I bought jerry garcia in a pouch for 10 bucks at a garage sale

  • And people wonder why I loved this man so......

  • My best friend in high school came back from SF to Ohio with the P.E.R.R.O. sessions on cassette in 1999. I've been listening to it ever since and just now realized the story behind the 1970-1971 sessions. This is still some of the best music around 40 years later.

  • NICE!

  • Jerry as the teacher Crosby as the student ;PRICELESS !!!!!!

  • its like love for my ears......

  • This is a great post. to me the Holy Grail is listening to Jerry trying to teach one of his songs.Has anyone heard the rehearsals for "So many Roads"? I've always wanted to hear Jerry teach on the piano. Strange but cool A nice window into his true musical gifts. The song is great too, love the cello and the acoustic, and that young soft clear voice is pure gold. Thank you for enabling us to enjoy this truly unique moment.

  • This is sublime. It is wonderful to hear Jerry talking. I wish we had more of David and Jerry.

  • Such precious voice....

  • @WeirFaithful - yes!

  • Too bad they never recorded a finalized version of this song. The version of "Loser" on Garcia's first solo album could have used David Crosby on harmony vocals and twelve-string guitar and Phil on the bass. And the cello is a nice touch, too. It's hard to complain when there are so many amazing live Dead versions of the song, though.

  • go to jerryradio com. go to downloads. scroll down and click 12-00-70 PERRO Download MP3. right click and save mp3s.
