  • Zep were sampling long time ago it seems. By sampling I mean taking other artists songs and passing them off as their own.

  • muito fodaaaaaaaaaaa

  • haha i love the host.

  • fantashish a goben

  • Fantastisch!

  • Kenny RIP still think of you.

  • Me too, he was a great guy.

  • Good stuff, all the music I like moved to Germany after England went all hippy. This is a great video.

  • I think this group was managed by Tony Stratton-Smith, who was head of Charisma Records later, and was the second manager of Genesis (after Jonathan King)...

  • Miles and ages away from their time...way ahead...freaking awesome....this is MUSIC.....5 stars

  • Naah I'd saw during their time :P but still timeless and great.

  • Een geheimtip uit de sixties. Noot groot in Nederland maar door Musikladen bekend.

    Onterecht genegeerd . Super.

  • I ADORE THIS BAND! This lineup!!

  • Brilliant footage, thanks!

  • Oh my........ this is superb !

  • i have since heard that it was the kenny the lead singer who went on road with led-zep and told jimmy pag about eddie using the violin or cello bow on the guitar strings.

  • jimmy page nicked the violin bow idea from eddie phillips when ex-creation roadie joined yardbirds just before new yardbirds evolved into led zeppelin.

dont think jimmy page was ever original at all!,most led zep songs were re-worked blues songs and re-credited page-plant.

at least eric clapton acclaimed the original artists by making royalty payments,page-plant didn't!.

  • Yeah. I don't really like Jimmy Page's playing.

  • @brigader4heart I didn't know anything about the credits unpayed by Led Zep, but I assume it's true because you would see a lot of pics of the early Beatles visiting every single Amercian artist possible (Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Elvis, etc.) in their teen influence (they began that since Germany almost). I don't even know if LZ made some sort of recognizement of that influence. Too drunk I guess. ;-)

  • @techhasnologictoday led zep lifted tons of things from blues artists, 60s bands like spirit, yardbirds, small faces, the creation etc. The list is pretty much endless.

  • @brigader4heart Jimmy Plant also screwed over The Fleur Des Lys when he was producing one of their early singles, 'Moondreams'. The band recorded an original song for the B-Side 'Wait For Me' and left Jimmy Page to produce the single while they were on tour. When the single was pressed, Page had recorded an instrumental jam which he also titled 'Wait For Me' and gave himself the credit and royalties from it! Page claimed he damaged the original Fleur Des Lys version. The cheek!

  • While I'm at it, check out the guitar line about a minute into the 1968 song 'Taurus' by a band called Spirit. Jimmy Page stole that as well! Yes, he did make it into a far better song, and yes, he was a great guitarist (I love his session playing on Lulu's 'I'll Come Running Over') but when it comes to ripping people off & stealing other people's ideas, he got away with murder!

    Now..... back to the Creation!

  • @jakegladman

Page also probably "borrowed" the Theremin and Daneelctro from Randy California of Spirit. Zep opened for THEM.

  • @fastrnb Nice call! Spirit=unique mix of psych,jazz & rock. Great band,cruelly neglected.

  • @jakegladman wasn't aware of that but we can't forget how he took Keith Relf's lyrics and used them for Tangerine without giving him any credit. Also I've heard a recording from the whisky a go go in '69 where Plant introduces Dazed and Confused as an original number Page wrote. hahaha what a bunch of tools.

  • @brigader4heart Are you insulting Led Zeppelin?

  • yes he fucking is

  • does this violen bow predate Zep? Any one know?

  • Absolutely ..... I thought Page was the first as well .... Page introduced the violin in the early 70's ....

  • @sp4172 actually page was doing the violin bow deal when he was with the yardbirds. not to say he may or may not have got the idea elsewhere.

  • Eddie was doing it at least a year before Jimmy had done it in the yardbirds.

  • yawn

  • Page didn't join until '66 (the same year this performance was allegedly shot) and he played bass at the beginning... I wonder what month this video was shot. I'm not saying Eddie Philips invented the bowed guitar technique, but I think its safe to say Jimmy Page did not invent it either.

  • this is from sept 23 1966, Eddie used it first on Making Time recorded many months earlier

  • brilliant! need to add them to the collection, heard of them but never had a chance to listen

  • i wanna get the audio

    how do i get that!?

    HELP

  • Search the blogspots on the net and you will find audio of all shows.

  • BO DIDLEY!!!!!

    kick ass

    i love the creation

    great stuff

  • What's the guitar that Eddie is playing does anyone know? Great set this, must have been awsome live.

  • Gibson ES-335 with pickup covers removed (colour: cherry red).

  • Yeah.and Page saw Eddie doing the violin bow and said 'I can do that"

  • the downliners sect are awesome. i too would like to see some early footage. put your headcoat on.

  • Yeah Heavy, I'd like to see some of GLENDORA !

  • How Does It Feel To Feel

  • The Creation stomp!!

  • i'm not sure the downliner's sect played on any tv shows; unless somebody filmed a club appearance or something

  • Incredible sound.

Has anybody out there any early Downliners Sect footage available?
