I have a front door that when it is locked all you have to do is open the door from from the inside and it unlocks itself, I have to tie a rope around my front door because my Rhodesian can open all of the doors in my house :)!
i was once accused of having let a gate unlocked, due to the ridgeback kept using his nose to bump the gate until the lock shook open. I miss that boy!!!
wow, thats crazy. I telling you, thses dogs would survive if humans ceased to exist on earth tomorrow, lol! :D I saw a video on here (black and white) of a RR getting ice like yours. I'll have to find it and reply with it.
my ridgeback did the same thing with our chain link fence. we eventually had to put a lock on it after we figured out how he was doing it. very smart dog breed.
I know. :) It only took me a week to train my male puppy (when he was only 6 months old now 10 months) to ring a cowbell tied to our back door when he wanted to go out to potty. And believe me this helped out a lot, and there were a whole lot less accidents in my house! He also now taps any doorknobs (any place, any time, anywhere, you name it) with his nose when he wants me to open the door. of course I can't always open the door he taps, but its cute anyway! :)
My Brandy also learned how to push the icemaker button on the fridge so we had to disconnect it because she makes a mess of melted ice all over the kitchen. Her new trick is she can let herself (or our foster dog) out of the kennels whenever she wants to. She can also get into the cabinet with the pullout trashcan, so I have to weigh it down or she rummages...they are too smart!
Hi there. We have yet to meet in life--but I am your cousin. Mary Hope and Carter's eldest daughter. Your dog Brandy is so beautiful and quite intelligent. I hope to meet you some day.~Moonchime

I don't think there's a gate that can hold a Ridgeback! Ours can open any door...if it's not locked! I'm sure she'll figure that out soon enough!

My RR can open my backdoor and one day the whole family was upstairs and she was outside and she opened the door and came inside and sat on couch
