I used to have this album (cassette - to be exact), but I don't know what happened to it. Perhaps, I lost it when I was moving, or somebody stole it, or maybe somebody borrowed it (with or without permission) and didn't bother to return it!
this song remindes me the times of 89/90 when i was taking care of the ethio war prisoners in Sahil, having no clue of their language. They loved to play this song, i still dont understand what they are singing about, but i love it.
my friend, it was thier anti Ethiopian policy that politicized it, when they took it out during the 1984 release. Here is another song they ommited too. watch?v=z0OquNflhqc
wow u r the best ethionegest. the best ethio you tubers eshi? u have no idea how much i was looking for this song. just the other day, i was walking to work and i was actually murmuring this song..it just came to mind out of the blue and now i stumbled unto it...wow.
it has been my favorite song ever since childhood. i bought the tape while in addis two years ago. my friends caught me listening being absorbed by the song,,,,they told me i am old school. well, i refused to take their labels. txxx ethio nigist! great song by great singers.
Unfortunately they made it thier business to prohibit these type of music to pass to the next generation. Hopefully the ones by Tilahun would make it to youtube somehow - 'Atentame yikesekes, demame yifeseselat' was my favorite. It came out when shabia almost controled Asmera right after the Abeyot Findata and somalies were on thier high horse heading for DireDawa, and clash b/n the Ethiopian government and eprp and other groups were at its highest peak. Yaletadelech Ager!
i think i have that song by Tilahun...but Ethiofekade may have uploaded it to Youtube already considering his large collection of Tilahun songs..if not then i will try to find the tape and upload it
@ethioNiGisT Tilahun has many many songs that were just for radio and ETV releases. As far I'm concerned thier existance depends on whomever control The Ethiopian Radio wave and ETV; also private music collector and enthusiast who manage to get thier hands on it. It don't matter Ethiofekade had it or not, if you have it just post it. Thanks.
Why is that a song about Metebaber and Meredadat and Anedent has became so scary to the woyane ruling class, that they delet it from the album in the second print ? I was searching for the album in Addis last year, I couldn't find it nowhere at all. Finally, I found it in Dessie; The two patriotic songs I was looking for were nowhere in it. Actually this song could be very helpfull for Meles regime as a propaganda piece.
First I appericiate The Nigist-Negestate for posting this great zefen. This album came out in 1981-82 time period. It was a joint work b/n Aregahenge worash, Newaye Debebe, Tsehaye Yohanes and Tsegaye Eshetu. The album has two patriotic songs including this one and the other, a solo by Tsehaye Yohaness - ' tez tez alegne..'. The second time the album released was in 1984. Unfortunately, the 1984 release have ommited the two patriotic songs. Did woyane found it poisnous or something ??

I guess anything patriotic is considered a threat to woyanes existance so they find the need to ban those types of songs....
