I made a 3 minute podcast as part of my radio work. The title is Should Greyhound Racing be banned? I argue why it shouldn't be banned! Have a listen - as I am willing to hear both sides of the argument. Check out my channel and click on the link to my webpage to check it out!
Improvements have been made.....It's not as bad as you think. It creates jobs and revenue for a city.... Horse racing has it's issues too. Let's improve the sport, not destroy it.....Horse's have it much worse.......focus on that...
I can assure you, if I found out my greyhound had been treated like this, I would be around at the trainer's house with a fucking pick axe. Sick people like this need bullets in the head.
I think that their is nothing wrong with racing i and of its self, granted some of the training maybe crule. Infact i don`t even think it`s crule to think of it as a sport, what i do think is crule is when you begin to treat rce dogs like objects. I think thing need to be handeled slightly more like horse racing in witch danimals are treated with a certain degree of respect at least while they can race, though what happens afterword can still be crule it`s better than this
Very illuminating video. Thank you for showing people the truth behind the facade. I am adopting an ex-racer Greyhound this weekend :) STOP GREYHOUND AND HORSE RACING!
@GleeFan26 i understand this is an old comment but do you honestly think all trainers are like this. My uncle is a trainer and ive been to the race track and ive been to other greyhound kennels and i can tell you not a single one was like this if i ever met a trainer like this i would kill him myself but if we ban this sport you think we could adopt them all? No we couldn't the trainers would have to put them all down because there a few places that re home greyhounds and owners would be broke.
Apparently 14,000 greyhounds "go missing" every year in the UK. Im sorry but to me that sounds like an awful lot of irresponsible owners, breeders, trainers. Also, if my dog broke its leg i would take it to the vets and get it fixed, good as new and the dog can live a long healthy life.. I dont know you personally but, to me, putting a dog down for a non life threatening injury is just disgusting. Its done as the dog wont earn the owner any more money, just cost money to have it fixed...
@blacktaylor123 Trainers are not rich you know and sometimes its not the trainers option the owners get the choice whether or not to put them down or pay for the operation and you are right it is disgusting that they have to be put down I know my Uncle goes out of his way to fix his own dogs and is upset every time he has to put one down but unfortunately sometimes it has to happen. it is disgusting but don't judge the trainers the owners control the sport trainers just do what they can to help
and there is also a program called gap or something. where greyhounds can be bought by other families after there racing career. We keep all our old dogs, we have like 20 lol.. they make beautiful pets, and they are to cute and have to good of personalities to get rid of. They truely are mans best friend. believe it or not people out there who don't have a greyhound, they make beauitful pets, so affectionate
my dads a greyhound owner/racer. and we know a lot of people in the greyhound industry. Not many people treat their greyhounds like this. All because their a greyhound doesnt mean that they will be mistreated. It would be no different if it was another breed of dog, if the owners going to mistreat their dog, there going to mistreat it regardless to its breed... On the other hand, if a greyhound falls at the track and brakes its leg we put it down immediately to reduce pain that it has to endure.
Having grown up with greyhounds breeders. i Can easily say that this video is biased. the racing greyhounds we breed and RACED had open range of the back yard and adjoining Paddocks, they were well fed and groomed
This is not the Truth about the greyhound racing...Its the truth about SOME greyhound owners...THIS IS NOT HAPPENING TO MANY DOGS! If you think that the whole industry is like this you're a fool!
These unfortunate things that have gone on in the racing industy are simply disgusting and a disgrace. I'm a veternarian assisstant at a greyhound track where the veterinarian does everything in her time at work and spare time to get these dogs adopted out. It's a cruel industry, but thankfully there are many of those involved whose number one concern is for the dogs' well being.
@greyhoundsneedlove this made me cry its horrible what they do and some of the pictures with the black greyhounds made me cry the most because i have 2 black greyhounds and if that happened 2 them it would be horrible

The plight of the Spanish Galgos have nothing to do with greyhound racing, so why include them in the video?
