  • Wow he showed no fear at the alamo. I wonder waht would of happend if they did send reinforcements

  • "He gave his word and he gave his hand that his Injun friends could keep their land"

    Ooh... Um... Yeah.

  • is he even a real person?

  • @poundokush420 Yeah, it's pretty well documented that he was a Tennessee congressman and fought at the Alamo during the Texas Revolution.

  • @TapesnCartridges ok, because my family has told me for years that i was related to him

  • love this

  • team Davy crockett

  • i aploud u sir

  • What a brilliant song. Thanks for the download. I've always wanted to hear that song right the way through. I think anyone who can recite the song right the way through deserves a drink. I could only think of lines born in a mountain top in Tenesse and going to fight the alamo.

  • My tribe -- Davy Crockett.

  • Davy Crockett was the Chuck Norris of his time...

  • @Khufu718 Ok..Question..What up with people & Noris..I dont really know

  • @Theteamfourstar1 they think Chuck is perfect. He's not. He's human.

  • came here from the daily show

  • scots Irish no wonder he was great.

  • 8 dislikes can you believe this. Dear Lord al mighty. Nobody likes folks like davy anymore its lady gaga and other bull like that. Dear lord help this 8 folks.

  • @TheHistoryGuy97 Dude there are people who like Davy Crockett. I happen to be one of them. Everyone will have their tastes. They could say you're being ancient if you don't like the new stuff. To each his/her own.

  • he was born in. a goast state that is now part tenasee and was not born on a Moutan top I learned that in geography

  • well he was not born in tensee he was born in a goast state and no

  • Is there anyone in this century who thinks D. Crockett as a hero? A supporter of slavery and a slave trader? He was useful for the growth of the US territory and nothing else!

  • ahah christ racism knows no bounds

  • love this old one

  • wow this is uhhh interesting

  • 7 people are the bitch of the wild frontier

  • Nice song, only sad they sing about him as if he were a hero whilst he was actually a 'Native American' murderer! Prob u ignorant Americans dont even know what they sing about and an European has to teach you your sad history!

    Greetings from Holland with love!

  • @Sleegherione You Stupid Dutch Fop,Crockett fought the Redsticks,a militant sect of the Crees,Crees,Choctaws and Cherokees also fought against the Redsticks.Crockett was one of the few in Congress to fight the Indian Removal Act and it cost him the election. He always spoke out in support of Native Americans rights.Don't make me ashame of my Dutch ancestors the Winnie family

  • @Sleegherione Fuck you dutchie. This Texan dont need you to teach me A goddamn moherfucking thing,I however may need to break my size 14 shoe off in your condescending dutch ass,Fuck you failed abortion

  • You need to post the "Farewell" song, supposedly the words are from a poem he wrote in a letter to his daughter around January 1836.

Oh it seems research has shown the name Crockett to be French Huguenot. The same as my Cheek family, who were apparent neighbors to Crockett in eastern Tennessee

  • Crocket "looking for paradise", to bad that the "redskins" lived there in "his land". Who is the real hero, the man who defended his ancestors home or the one who came, taking it. by force. Claiming that to be freedom and culture. "Land of the free", sounds great today. Around 1800, as long if you are the poor white protestant fugitive from Europe it might have been. But if you are an Indian, Mexican or.... Nice song about the American myth. Disney style history view for boys that never grew up

  • I love this song

  • IM MEXICAN AND WHAT SANTA ANNA WAS WRONG OF WHAT HE DID TO DAVID C.RIP THE KING IF=OF THE WILD FRONTIER

  • I read he didn't like being called Davy, but prefered to be called David. People who called him Davy were asking for a fight.

  • this is a really good song and will be stuck in my head for days [in a good way]

  • thanks u 2

  • MY FAMILY WAS IN TENNESSEE LONGER THAN CROCKET WAS AND IN FACT WE WERE THE FIRST SETTLERS THERE

  • @trisgilmour You better be a Bean saying that.Bean and Boone were the first white men to see the Watauga Valley. He built Bean's Station, fought at King's Mountain with Crockett's father and two of David's uncles.

  • who sings this?

  • @Runescapemoneymen It is the group "Sons of the Pioneers". Have a great week!

  • @gallopingalligator But isn't this sung by "Riders in the Sky"??

  • @gallopingalligator But isn't this"Riders in the Sky"?? They also sing Crockett's poem "Farewell"

  • @gallopingalligator

The singer is Eddy Arnold NOT The pioneers

  • wow! fantastic! wow! I am in an indefinite disbelief! This is my new favorite song guise!

  • Yes they need more heros like davy

follow me on twitter for the change. its about to happen. godlovestammie

  • Awesome post...and wonderful historical insight to the man. Probably not too many are aware of this version of the song.

But I am curious to know... do we have a historical picture/painting of what the man really looked like? Kudos for uploading this gem!

  • True fact here Davey Crockett actually had three ears;

    Left ear

    Right ear

    and his wild front ear!

    Doh!!!

  • A NEW SONG ABOUT DAVY:

Born on a slave plantation in Tennessee, the most racist state in the land of the white free. He killed him an ant when he was only three........Davy, Davy Bullshit in the land of fantasy

  • @Deguello321 Sure fir nigger!!!

  • @Whatj

    Eat crap big ears

  • @Whatj

Why don't you go and suck on a coonskin racist bastard

  • @Whatj

What fir, shit fir, frontier peck

  • fuck david, mexicans kill him , pendejo

  • @MrPedro3235 Mexico why dont the mexicans want to be there i wonder... Shut the fuck up...

  • Great song and great American hero; I once stopped in Crockett, Texas where Davey stopped and camped on his way to giving his life at the Alamo.

  • is this the same hero who assisted in the battle of the alamo and survived it then took prisoner by general santa anna and put to death as a hero?

i though it was david crockett something like that

  • can someone please tell me the name of who is singing this version?

  • Damn, this guy did everything!

  • this is awsome! but i wish he still alive...

  • I grew up listening to the story of Davy. My grandma grew up in the same area of Tennssee. and she told me all the stories and taught me the song. This was awesome to see. I still love the story Davy he is one my favorite of TX.

  • excallent job!.. you may need to put new knowledge, Davy Crockett knew that Alamo would not get help (Davy Crockett letters, founded 2009)

  • Comment removed

  • Davy Crocket, King of the Wild Frontier

  • Excellent. Good history on him as well. You couldn't find a politician today who would be willing to what was right even if it meant losing his job.He was truly a man of his word and believed in right from wrong.

  • oh.my. goodness. did they use these lyrics in the movie??!! surely not.

  • oh. my. goodness. i cant believe the lyrics. this was NOT the song from the Disney movie!!!!

  • Yes and no. Disney did several Davy Crockett movies in a sort of early mini-series (4-5, I think), each one showing a different stage in Davy's life. I admit it's been many years since I saw them all, but my memory of them was that each one featured a portion of the ballad that reflected the story being told in that episode. I'm not sure ALL the lyrics in this version were in the various movies, but I distinctly remember most of them from my childhood days.

  • This soung always reminds me of the Country Bear Jamboree attraction at Disney World. They sing this song in there too

  • I was one of the kids who had a coonskin cap and cap rifle from disneyland

  • @cripplious What kids?

  • dacord avec toi concordent plus

  • Happy Trails Fess Parker

  • RIP

  • the politically correct text is really lame... the song is not racist, it was just they way it was at that time. God, people, gain some IQ somewhere along the way.

  • davy died today 3-18-10 at the age of 84

  • R.I.P Fess Parker, je viens d'apprendre votre mort ce soir.

  • This sounds REALLY racist. Am I wrong or have I missed something?

  • @Swequilibrium You must be a little over sensative. (Democrate?)

  • No, swedish. And I might add I don't

know anyone who wouldn't find it racist. :P

  • Disney brought us some great programs....

  • abbiamo fatto come tema gli scout, le avventure del grande david crockett

  • America NEEDS heroes and we NEED Davy Crockett more than ever now.

  • @Ophiophthalmos

    Your in fantasy land gizmo

  • @Deguello321

No you racist rat, I'm in FRONTIER land and the Tea Party is going to whip your liberal butts.

  • @Ophiophthalmos

    Dream on fascist!

  • Hey , guys, mellow out. How can anyone find fault with a man who kills mexican pigs?

  • @btapoutjoe

    Hook um horns

  • @Ophiophthalmos

You forget the heroes of our time the soldiers in Afghanistan and all the cops on the street, risking their lives every single day just to make our life save.

  • @Ophiophthalmos That is a platitude, one could say that at any period in History. I don't see how a hero could save us or from what. :)

  • @Ophiophthalmos thats damn right

  • according to family history Davy is a distant cousin of mine

  • @countryrockstar2008 seriously...same here

  • I am some of the offspring of Crockett according to my Grandfather in his 90th year. I fear not...I am counting on oath keepers, and will fight to the death. I can only be killed once. Then the Lord will take vengence. I however will haunt , if allowed, to the enth degree, after final battle. MUUuHhaaaaa!

  • this song in the latin world its PANCHO LOPEZ its a little bit funny too can you find it right here in youtube

  • im a real crockett and im afraid our country no longer understands the contributions that these men made to this nation-sad

  • I do!!

  • This is a good version however The Wellingtons sounded a lot better

  • Who is singing this ??? I love it !!!

  • Ohh, man--this brings back memories---thank you

  • Really??? you're related to him??? same as me! he's my great great great uncle! I was even born with his last name!

  • I was around 5 at the time of Davy's popularity. I still have my Davy Crockett lamp, and it's unbroken.

  • im not american but some where down the line im related to davy crockett lol i didnt know who the guy was tell my dad told me about him! lol

  • Ok, I admit that I lied. I was only 7 years old when Davey was killed by those murdering Mexicans. I got my chance to avenge Davey during the Mexican-American war. I was wounded three times during the war. I received a battlefield commission and reached the rank of Brevet Major.

  • me too! only i commanded the 23rd Illinois infantry during the Civil war, i was wounded 5 times.

  • Good Gracious! What memories this song brings back! I was only 15 years old when Davey left for what was then Mexico. I still remember the sickening feeling that I felt when my militia commander told me that Davey had been killed. Davey was the greatest patriot i ever knew.

  • So Davy left in 1835 - you were born in 1820. Thanks for returning from the grave with your firsthand account - I'd skake YOUR hand but...... I'm not into skeletons really.

  • I'd sure like to shake his hand.

  • This was great, nice pics - thanks for posting it. I also liked how you added in the words to the verses and some added history. A beautiful tribute to a true hero!

  • David, David Crokett, Santa Anna te mato

  • Oh shut up! Obviously you are some kind of nazi or something if you hate Americas history, you hate America! Yes songs go a little over the top, but he was a great man, and you have pretty much just spat on his grave! If you hate this country, go live somewhere else, because you obviously don't want to be here! If nothing else, think of the time that was put into this, show some respect for the band, and gallopingalligator! God bless America.

  • God Bless Davey, this was a great tribute!!!!

  • i just love the song

  • The only problem I have with Croket is that the Texans usurped the Mexican government because they didn't allow slavery, therefore the song's notion of fighitng for freedom...sad to say...is false. But I still repsect him for protecting the Indians....Jackson was ruthless....

  • Remember, Texas was its own country before it was a state, and I don't think when it was a country they had slaves.

  • You have head of Davy Crockett, well his grandfather was an infant that survived the butcher of his entire family, only because the CHEROKEE BUTCHERS did not happen to find him where his Mother had hidden him.

  • That was great! And I liked the popups, I liked reading the history.

  • The video is good I could live without the pop-ups.

  • Not exactly a favorite for American Indians!

  • nice<3 3 weeks on the nr. 1 place in a row speaks for itself xoxbabygurlz

  • the whole song thanks, and what a great feeling you get when you visit the alamo

  • Hi, Thanks for the video, I'm not even American, but I always wondered who's Davy Crockett ? and what's that song about?

Thanks, and I admit I like this song !

  • Thanks! You did a good job on this

  • Thank You!

  • Well, you have a point. It is not the most beautiful song ever written but it has its moments. Thanks.
