this makes me so happy i cry. had a massive stroke recently and lucky to be alive.this song allows me to relive my youth.57 now and very depressed all the time but i want to live and make a comeback.,this song is classic! whattatathink of it young people?
I only heard this song a few months ago, and i just cant stop listening to it, such a brilliant tune and great performer, music like this is hard to find now
My opinion, Dennis's voice and talent is second to none. Spend some time listening to him on YouTube, and you will see what I am saying. And that includes Elvis and Sinatra. I'm not talking about charisma or his stage presence or name recognition. But his beautiful voice and delivery. Dennis never misses a word or a note. Perfection.
he is a rare talent, he feels the song in his heart and relays that to everyone who hears it. love this song, brings back childhood memories, I think everyone in my family loved Dr Hook, Dennis pulled us all in, kept us laughing, and feeling his pain. Thank You Mr. Locorriere.
I went to see Dennis Locorriere and his band along with Andy Fairweather Low the other night and both acts were FANTASTIC!!! Loads of all the old hits plus new stuff too! Go and see them if they're playing round your way!!!!
I saw Dennis and his superb band last night and he has so much energy and enthusiasm and did all his old stuff and lots from his new album.
Appearing with Dennis was the equally brilliant Andy Fairweather-Low and his Low Riders and the whole evening was utterly fantastic and I can't wait to see them all again!!!!
Go and see them if they're down your way as they have another 36 dates to do!!!
Was working at Glastonbury Festival a few years back, Sunday Lunchtime, this bloke had never heard of walked on main stage with a guitar, and wow! Transfixed an ever growing crowd with a fantastic acoustic set, this song being the highlight, a fan ever since.
My sister Diane played this song over and over when Dr Hook came out with it. She was killed in an accident a week before her 14th birthday. Whenever I hear it I think of her.
The only one who could cover the inimitably brilliant original version -- is the man himself.
Succeeding decades of your living add layers of pathos to what you felt at ten and twenty (take it from me -- I'm sixty, and feel it yet), and he lays them on lovingly here.
very good video i went to see dennis as the voice of dr hook at ashington leisure centre in ashington northumberland. about 15 year ago he was fantastic
Dr. Hook is one of the most underated groups of any generation. I have had more "mad love" because of these guys than any other group. Pop it in and the chicks start dropping their panties. Mad props to this wonderful band. Three songs into any album and the biatches think you only love them.
Kudos to Dr Hook for some classic tunes. But, let us not forget the great Shel Silverstein who gave us these great lyrics (this, Cover of the Rolling Stone, etc.
Anyway, thanks for posting this song - I love this song
its to bad that time gets everyone.dennis is still great, his voice still great. but i want to remember him as the fun and good time young person he always was in 60s and 70s.
I saw Dennis and Dr Hook several years ago at the Idaho State Fair. Dennis sang this song a cappella; alone on the stage. The most awesome moment I have ever experienced at a live concert. The audience was so stunned that there was several minutes of complete slience ater he finished, and then thundering applause. God, I miss their music
I was 12 yrs old when this was released in the UK and my Mother absolutely hated it. I loved it and it's still one of my all time favourite songs. It has to be Dennis singing it, though. No one else comes close to the emotion he puts into it.
Hi there, thanks for your message. We are the Music DVD Label for this video. It is released on "Dennis Locorriere - The Unique Voice Of Dr. Hook DVD "Hits & History Live"."
It is available in the shops right now. Let me know if you need any more info.
Love this song- there are many good versions of it but Dr Hook will always be the best. Dennis still sounds good but he's still only part of the band.
