Well it did say in the making that Jack Gill use 1 computer car and the others were stunt cars. O and you know when the first apperance of KARR jumping off that cliff notice the car is different :L
I think they went through 79 Trans Ams in the making of this show. I would they would have gave me one! a 82 Trans Am would be a nice addition to my 88 Trans Am GTA.
@DarkSlayer487 Hey do you own a 88 Trans Am GTA!....I own one myself and that is a great car!.....what have you done with yours? is it stock or modified?
@DarkSlayer487 I have 5.7L V8 but i am wondering what gearbox is it in car i thought is wa s a 700TH but it can also be a 400TH...? mine is stock from a little detail is a another camshaft in it around 300 hp.
haha i always knew this happened during filming, you often saw the car going nose first into the ground then it quickly cut to an interior shot of the car landing safely. but these stunt cars are probably just done up like KITT on the outside and are just regular trans ams on the inside with rollbars and 5 point restraints for the driver.
There was a bunch of new Trans-ams on a train for delivery to dealerships and the train de-railed and cars got damaged, so they rang up knight rider and asked if the wanted them..
@icewatercube - Yeah, flimsy. I've always thought that car was too delicate to do most of those 'Dukes' jumps it attempted (and those Dodge Chargers took a real ass whipping with their jumps). But I as well was impressed with the end product of editing with KITT's jumps. I just thought it was a waste to fuck up the cars like that. Btw,Those Chargers actually started using models (in season 7) b/c of all those senseless stunts.
Yeah, I've always thought the frame of the Pontiac was a little flimsy! It's no way that car could survive most of it's jumps from the show. Today, they would probably CGI the hell out of it...*lol*
Cool vid.Thanks for sharing.Is there more of these footage from knightrider?

@awesomepat If its stock, you have a TH-700R4 transmission. Later the name was changed to 4L60E

so that's why you never saw him land in the series.
now the next mystery to solve is, how did Michael Knight pulled all this off without ever fastening his seatbelt.
I wonder...

@Teamo86
The Landings has one very often seen in the series, even with the real cars that have flown!

fucking hell, i thought he had the shell, so how did they get it perfect in film?? and how many trans ams were sacrificed for this
JakeDrew2 1 year ago
these had to have been prop cars with just plastic outer shells. look at how the windshield shakes like it's made of plastic.
