my first would be for jerry lee lewis piano skills

  • Amazing. He could have a solo career in any decade.

  • When "voices" meant something, other than the "fake" crap of today. Notice they are'nt smoking crack, talking about thier "Ho's" and probably have jobs!

  • This music, especially Bowzer, is so cool.

  • Johnny Contardo had a has a gorgeous voice. It's like butter!!!

  • NOW THATS WHAT I CALL TERIBLE HAHAHA

  • back in the day when gangs sung to you before stabbing ya, now today these gangs shoot you without so much a single tune.

    dammit!

  • anyone know which year this was recorded? please answer quickly, i have a hole list of classic songs and i have written all the years they were recorded, but can find this one and unchained melody with sha na na. please help :)

  • 19 people must have thought the button said dis i like

  • love the talent! :), is that guy at the end supposed to be funny? >:/

  • Comment removed

  • I agree! Sha Na Na's performances were definitely better than the original artist's in almost every instance. They were great!

  • Talk about the best of the best. They could do better than the originals.

  • the way the conduct themselves.. and the song they sing in general is ironic because the way they are dressed is similar to frat boys/rap styles/thugs who act like idiots in music videos now days

  • Johnny has an unbelievable voice. I don't think I've ever heard a better one.

  • @carldown22 I like Johnny but your kidding...

  • I like to see this on American Idol,.

  • 19 people who pushed dislike wish they could sing like bowser

  • @shadowss9 Its not hard if you have a baritone singing voice lol

  • @shadowss9 I disliked and I can sing exactly like Bowser.

  • @shadowss9 i wish i could sing like bowzer but i didnt dislike

  • Hey kids! THIS is called "singing". Yo, yo, gnome sane, shama lama ding dong?

  • Watching these guys sitting on the stoop, makes me homesick.

  • No whats terrible is music today. This is talent.

  • I remember this. :)

  • Bring on LARRY CHANCE & THE EARLS IT'S ALSO TOO SLOW

  • bowser to me is the lead in all these songs

  • i cannot believe 18 numpties disliked this song

  • da dg`d`d ñ `ff`ff`f bfgfgg´

  • They were in the movie Grease, they played the band at the dance, "Johnny Casino and the Gamblers", music was and still is awesome!!

  • This is one of the most dreamiest video's on youtube! Johnny Contardo is so dreamy! haha and I love Bowser his so funny! and Jocko! I LOVE Santini his the coolest one! yummy! Chico, Danny love them all! I wish TV shows were like this now there so much fun! I know this cause my mom and dad used to watch this when they were growing up! Weren't these guys in Grease? To me these guys were the original Grease! LOVE watching them!

  • @wanderer856 Columbia U. grads I believe...

  • Bowzer for president.

  • haha, this was totally one of the boy bands of the 70's... but hey, that was when such a thing was still pretty good in my opinion

  • @DefLeppelin650 so were Dion & the Belmonts in 1958

  • Ha, my parents used to watch this show.

  • I love this man and his voice!

  • How can anybody dislike this?????

  • ahhhhhh I love Johnny's voice!!!!!! why listen to bieber when you can listen to this ?!

  • Remember walking down the street and finding a quartet on every street corner singing their hearts out.....I don't either, but that would have been awesome to see daily.

  • Johnny is such a fuckin baller! Love his voice!

  • Now thats what i call TERRIBLE...:D:D Hilarious lol.

  • 18 people are squares ..

  • Gosh, I love his voice....

  • many of sha na na's covers were better!!!!

  • JOHNNY ROCKS

  • A combination of great singing with a great element of humor ! ! ! -- Thanks ! ! !

  • Contardo was beyond compare.

  • Rightly, one of the most-hit SNN clips. Bowser and Contado relaxed in full form, Santini supporting eagerly - Danny clearly not rehearsed but pleased to be there. SNN always did have imperfections in their choreography, but that was integral (deliberate?) to their boy-next-door charm? Great song, great "performance". Sha Na Na often flirted with 'naffness', but knew they were doing so, and deliberately chose to do so: they were pure class and could always pull it off. Magic.

  • @didsburyduck Danny wasn't in this one.

  • Man I miss this show!!

  • Wow, lol I half expected this to be somewhat not too serious and not that good, but this is good :P, they use their voices very cleverly and efficiently and they fit very well together :D

  • 18 people were drunk or stoned when they played this video.

  • damn. i need sideburns.

  • how could one person, let alone 17, hit the "dislike" tab above??

  • @DavesCarWash I really don`t know...

  • Nice cameo by Warhol alum Michael Sklar at the end

  • Use to watch this show religiously with my mom back then....R.I.P

  • better than the original by the earls and thats saying something!

  • @paul418cj it was good not Larry Chance great

  • As much as this pains me to say this... like this version better than the original! Wow! What a voice!

  • @tabirocks1989

    Isn't his voice fabulous!!!

  • @tabirocks1989 Why would it pain you to say it? Sha Na Na was actually one of the best Doo Wop groups and Johnny Contardo was just one of ten reasons.

  • @IUFAN417 Well I am a very big fan of The Earls who sang the original and I would like to say their version is better but Sha Na Na blew this song out of the park. They have fantastic harmony and their vocal range is unprecedented!

  • That's Billy Crystal, and I will fight anyone that says it isn't.

  • @erinker74 i used to think it was billy crystal too lol,, but its not sorry i was 5 yrs old and i watched this as a boy on tv and i thought that for a looonnng time to. i wish kids had this kind of stuff now to enjoy instead of all the trash hollywoofd has now at least these guys has real talent .

  • This was the the second worst TV in history - Hee Haw being the first.

  • Devtrev, Yes, these guys were parodying 50's Rock and dress which they wildly overstylized! But don't knock their voices, especially Denny's and Johnny's! This was a great singing group that I believe lost a ton of credibility because they clung on to that '50's gimmick for way too long; probably because their management was afraid of killing the "golden goose".

  • @devtrev LOL. Both were highly entertaining to a new mind.

  • @devtrev omg no way! 2 of my favorite memories, manythings included, like just a more wholesome family life period! they dont know what that is anymore!

  • so many sha na na covers were better than the original

    johnny is amazing

  • BOWZER FOR PRESIDENT :D

  • Gawd, I miss that show..

How about it TV Land, can you bring it back?

  • gotta love Bowser's base voice, sets up so many of their songs

  • I agree with the positive comments! They did a great job on this song!I liked watching the short-lived show of Sha Na Na, (even though TV Guide said none of them could sing!Wrong!!!)

  • didn't the wizards sing this song?

  • @thedarkenedwanderer possibly you're thinking of the earls, although i'm sure the wizards covered it.

  • Johnny does not have "one" of the best singing voices ever.

Johnny has "the" best singing voice ever.

  • @Rusfi16 You got it!!!! The best ever!!!!!

  • @Rusfi16 Johnny is still around, although obviously not with Sha Na Na. Google Johnny Contardo.

  • @Rusfi16 I loved watching Sha Na Na back when they had there own TV show. Hard to believe that was 30 years ago; and here's a howler for you: I used to work with an idiot who thought that Johnny was actually Billy Crystal!

  • @jknuttel I watched this show religiously when I was a kid.

  • @jknuttel Ridiculous !! How could Johnny be mistaken for a sacked SWcottish US general from Afghanistan, Billy McCrystal ?

  • @alanvking He doesn't look like General McCrystal. He looks like Billy Crystal.

  • @roguejulie Sorry, it was supposed to be a pun, a joke. Scottish, Mc Crystal, Billy, General..anyway, sorry again. I"m a sad bastard really !!

  • I remember watching sha na na when i was a kid. Love this song Johnny had a great voice.

  • This is music! "I heart 60s."

  • johnny has the voice of a a angel

  • How I wish music like this was still made today, this form of music transports me to an open field with the stars shining, the music blowing out on the wind...

  • No one does this better than Johnny Contardo.

  • The Slickville Cappella Street Corner for sure sang songs better than the originals many nights in front of Mike's and Damico's

  • Contardo was marvelous. But I have a question: who thought putting a moron on at the end of the song to make some simple minded comment added to the song??? Cut it off!!

I'm just sad Contardo couldn't have found a manager back then with enough sense to have him cut off the ducktail, dress like Sinatra or Tony Martin and sell him as a truly class act. Both he and Denny hung onto with that Sha Na Na gang for too long!

  • better than the original what a beautiful voice JOHNNY CONTARDO

  • This is awesome. I need to play this in my car. How do I get this exact recording? It is better than all other versions and bands.

  • GREAT MUSIC!!!

  • Is it me or does the lead singer look like Billy Crystal??

  • @erickucha12 Not only does he look like him, but even the speaking voices are close. Very odd, one is Jewish, one Italian, wait a minute that's pretty much the same in the guilt department lol. Billy was on the show, and opened for them in concert, so yes, they do look alike, but our Johnny is far more handsome.

  • Okay, maybe I'm just seeing things, but Bowser looks like he could be related to Adam Sandler..just sayin'.

  • best group in the world. the music of today does not compare to the awesomness of this.

  • This is one I do not like

  • @stagb3 W H A T ??? That's fighting talk. Can't understand why you don't like it. Maybe you're just having a bad day.

  • @stagb3 To each their own but you don't know good when you hear it if you think this is bad. Contardo doesn't do bad ever

  • I just love them ! :D

  • He's Italian, if he can't move his hands he can't talk or sing lol I know I'm married to one lol Go Johnny go

  • Great song, beautifully done!! 'I remember when' I used to watch that show when it was on the air, looked forward to it every week!!!

  • This brings back some good memories.

  • *sigh* Bowzer and Johnny can go on tour and do their own stuff. Two of the most recognizable voices. Just outstanding! I wish this was on TV for me, I'd LOVE it!

  • Johnny and Bowzer. Greatest guys ever.

  • bowzers bass is outsanding........and johnny can sing like everything : D !!

  • These guys could sing the birds out of the trees.

  • cool :))

  • i use to be able to sing that high 55 years ago.

  • great times back then.

  • this song is one of the overturn in Woodstock..something strange in this kind of festival

  • this song is one of the overturn in Woodstock..something strange in this kind of festival

  • I remember seeing these guys in concert back in the 70's before Grease came out, God I'm old.

  • WHERE is Johnny Contardo now? Anyone know? Is he still performing?

  • @JohnGee1977 Check out Johnny Contardo.com and you will see what he is up too! You can also listen to some recent radio interviews located on the site. Enjoy!!!

  • @JohnGee1977 He's still performing and giving voice lessons. If you want to see an updated version of Johnny try Mission Viejo/ Contardo. He still has his voice albeit not like at 30 but still damn good. His fans drug him out of retirement. He's wonderful.

  • Hate to brag, but I can get as low as Bowser, and as high ( - and I don't mean 'ripped') as Johnny - in his key, here...

  • @lensman55 Freaking A You are bragging. That would mean more than a 4 octave range.

  • Johnny Contardo has one of the best singing voices ever!!!!!!

  • poop shoot

  • Johnny Contardo has one of the best voices I've ever heard!

  • cheese

  • This is my life. Please put this out on DVD. it's time!!!!!!

  • great

  • Johnny is fantastic! n cute ^^

  • Can you please try to find the show where Johnny & Ther Guys sand " My Special Angel" to a young girl from the audience?? It was--IMHO--their finest vocal moment--ever. They were simply sensational. Wolfsky9

  • @Wolfsky9 Please do a search in you tube for "Sha Na Na ~My special angel" or search for Foofsmom to see your video

  • I'm sitting here smiling and laughing at the same time..I was a young girl, but yes, from my mom's stoires, those were just great times, well b4 kids got stupid, and just had good times w/o violence

  • Bring back Sha Na Na!

  • @aelion88 I agree. Now we have p.o.s. drug sling, gang bangers hanging out on those corners. I give this country about another 20 years before it looks like a backwoods 3rd world country, thanks to all of the "tolerance" and "bullshit acceptance" of the crap that is out on the streets today. Thanks gawd for the past, since our future is looking like the insides of a Grand Central Station toliet.

  • @Deputydog857

Anybody for the chinese anti-drug method? Sweep the streets clean with the army and shoot any drug dealers on sight? Whatever else you have to say about the terrible amorality of the statement, They've got a phenominally low drug rate for the size of the country.

  • Fantastici!!!! Meravigliosi Sha Na Na e la loro musica!!!

  • brillent i get goose bumps everytime i here Johnny's voice what an amazing talent...wish todays music took a page from these guys

  • Love this video - Johnny's range is amazing and he's just too cute!!!!

  • Thanks for posting all these great videos but especially the ones with Johnny on lead - his voice was amazing and he was absolutely adorable - my favorite!!!

  • I know, I know it's about his talent, which I GREATLY admire, it goes without saying, but I'm just having a little fun here.

  • I remember those jeans! LOL How I've missed them ;)

  • @65wendym lmao - I take you you haven't been on here in a while either?

  • @cevc918 No, I've been listening to Johnny's cd's! But I've missed the videos!

  • I miss Sha-Na-Na SOOOOOO damn much!!! Both the group AND their show!

  • the guy in the yellow shirt has a nice voice

  • @aelion88 If you're being sardonic, you sure got me laughing !!

  • Gotdamn, Johnny can fuckin' sing.

  • I used to watch this when I was very little. Sha na na was just before the Muppet Show on Channel 2, CBS

  • Remember 50's punks ? Lenny , Squiggy ? Fonzie ? Johnny flash ? Loved the 50's.....

  • is Johnny the only attractive one here?!

  • Bowser always manages to make me giggle.

  • If the US ever catches bin laden they should lock him in a room and make him watch this for eternity as punishment.

  • If this was a 45 rpm instead of youtube my copy would be worn out by now. The man does it better than the original. That could be said about every song he does. How dare this man have so much talent? Sha na na would never have been the tv success it was without Johnny. He stole the show every week. We waited to hear him do his songs. He was fabulous in skits too, so funny. Bowser with his classic baritone and Johnny with his superb tenor made that show.

  • thats my uncle balzar
