hey Daz, are you running you Saturn through an SCART connection? I'm thinking of buying a SCART to Component adapter and some SCART cables for as many of the old sysytems as possible.
Svideo & composite just don't look too good on a large LCD screen.
@RetroGamerDaz but when you are showing off the Saturn version of NiGHTS -- how do you have it connected?
I find the older systems which are connected through RF, composite, and svideo just don't look very good through newer HDTVs. I have been looking into buying an SCART to RGB converter and using that, but I'm not very familiar with SCART quality.
@videogameobsession I'm not showing the Saturn version on a Saturn. It's the Saturn version that's been ported to the PS2. There's also a enhanced PS2 version that's also included.
NiGHTS is an utterly gorgeous game. I'd put the concept of the game way ahead of any of today's games. It's the only game I've bothered getting an NTSC console for (PS2,)and it was money well spent IMO. Even though I'm absurdly bad at hte game. I had high hopes for Journey of Dreams because I always felt the game would play better with the octagonal stick surround on the Nintendo controllers, but that version of the game didn't quite hit the spot.
awesome game did not know that they released this on the ps2 lol that kind of betrayal on segas behalf lol just kidding looks awesome on the ps2 i will have to hunt this one down for sure thanks for sharing darran huge thumbs up as always talk to you later cya !!!!
Looks like a really good compilation and it's unusual that it never saw a Western release but Sega have always been really funny with the Nights franchise.
This is probably up there in my top 3, i have been tempted to import this and the monster world collection for ps2, is there an easy way to play imports on a PAL machine then?
thanks for doing this (i assume that you saw my comment, although i know that you are currently playing this). nice video, shame that game is japan only :(
Do you use swap magic to play this?

Hi there fello " Nights into dreams " players... I was just wondering if anyone could tell me where to get a 3-in 1 JoyBox usb converter? Anyone?

Never saw the appeal to this game did not think it played very well graphics were far too bright as well music was too chirpy for my liking.

Theres more cool retro games on PS2 which only came out in Japan... Wii Nights sucked. Saturn version rocks.

Going to track this down myself.

@RetroGamerDaz Ahh. Now it all makes sense.
I read the description "PS2 Vs Saturn Comparison" and just assumed.
Sorry for the confusion. It was late at NiGHT when I was watching this and commenting. :P

@RetroGamerDaz
I think the Edea (orby things) look so much shinier and deeper in the PS2 version...they are like glowing sapphires
brendude95 1 year ago
you got to compare Saturn with PS1 not PS2... comparing to PS2. If you want to do a comparation you have to compare between PS2 and Dreamcast

Think the reworked Saturn version is not as blocky as the actual Saturn version, is Christmas Nights included?
Retrosofer 1 year ago
@Retrosofer Christmas nights is included, but it's apparently cut down

@classicfps I have a messiah chip, but there's apparently a device called swop magic that you can use.
RetroGamerDaz 1 year ago
@RetroGamerDaz ive heard of swap magic, but it sounds a pain the arse to constatly swap the discs, does your chip work for slim or phat?
classicfps 1 year ago
@classicfps It's a phat PS2. Not sure if you can chip the slim ones, I'm sure it possible though.
RetroGamerDaz 1 year ago
Of course PS2 is better - its technically more powerful than the Saturn! The Dreamcast was the PS2's rival machine!

Nice vid, Darren. Hard to tell on the vid, but is there any difference in the frame rate?

Thanks for the vid Darren Nights is One of my all time fave games. My 2 favourite levels are Mystic Forest & Splash Garden although they are all fun.

I have to admit this PS2 version does have it's improvements over the Saturn version.
