Bless the Lord Jesus Christ and the people who believe in him. I only pray that you ask for forgiveness and realize you are wrong before its too late. Also on another note, this is a beautiful song. If you don't chose to listen to it, and its not your "type" of music then go else where and listen to what you like. please stop with the rude comments.
@hayenga4 No, i cant disprove God. You cant prove him either. You cant disprove the flying spaghetti monster, or Allah, or Thor, or Odin, or Scientology or any other religious claim. That is why it is the theist, that has the burden of proof, because it is virtually impossible to disprove anything. The only "evidence" i've heard for God is: 1. Personal experience. 2. The Bible says so. 3. We cant explain everything. A weak excuse for evidence if you ask me.
@hayenga4 The only thing i can say is that evolution- which is a fact - does not mix with the biblical story of creation. So we have practically debunked Creationism.
Hey Guys Im Just A Christian Trying To Help Spread The Gospel.. I Glorify The Lord Through My Music.. Can you guys check My Channel And Videos Out..Ill be Truly grateful If You Guys Would Check My Music Out.. Thank You and God Bless Everyone..
TO ACCEPT JESUS INTO YOUR LIFE SAY THIS PRAYER WITH FAITH :) Lord God. I come to You a sinner and I humbly repent of my sins. I believe that Jesus is Lord and I believe You raised Him from the dead. I ask that Jesus will come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I receive Jesus to change and take control of my life that I may live for Him from this day forth and from now on. Thank You Lord Jesus for saving me and cleansing me with Your precious blood. In Jesus name, Amen.
Jesus is too real. He is the son of God who came to die for are sins. He heals all our sickness and disease. There are so many miricles he's done all around me. My ministery leader, the doctors found she had breast cancer, and when she went home she rebuked the cancer in Jesus' name. So the next time she went for a check up, it was gone!
Many Christians want to believe so badly they will ignore scientific evidence, reason, common sense and their own better judgment. Religions have perverted the meaning of the word "truth." The Websters Dictionary definition says what the word means: truth: "being in accord with fact or reality." Search for "Church of Innerspace" in Google, click the first result, and read what it says to learn the truth.
God does not exist?? and you say we claim to know how it all happened ..you might want to do some reseach ..we except God by his word and, faith. We also observe inteligent design in nature ..I think the evolutionist are trying to say we came from rock..which ..YOU.. must except by faith..God Bless You i hope you can find the Love of Jesus .God gives wisdom..
Jesus/God does not exist, and Christianity is simply not true. The year is 2011, and we dont have a SHRED of evidence that supports the excistence of God. It is amazing how some people can simply read something in a book, and come to the conclusion that what is says is true. This is the suspension of critical thinking, which is INCREDIBLY dangerous. There is no shame admitting that we dont know everything. THAT is humility, not claiming to know how it all happened.
@l0rdoflol My belove friend in Christ Jesus, the saviour and son of the most high God, he love u and your family as well.me and my family truly encounter Jesus in our life, so many things that happen you cannot imagine how powerful and how real the son of God Jesus when we were facing evil spirit attack. how could u convert more than 20 devout buddhist to christian ? only God does.
before i met him , i have same attitude and doubt like you , but not any more, go ask him ,he answer.
@l0rdoflol if you belive that then that is your opinion but why are you commenting on this board. No matter what you say the people here will love God. We also wish that you would love and belive him to but christianity is a choice and is yours to make. But in our hearts God is real. He is everything that matters.
That's a very good question that has books on top of books devoted to it. How do we know anything exists? How do we prove things such as love, friendship, and hope exist? I wouldn't know how to scientifically "prove" those, but I would say from the evidence presented, personal experience, and what seems to correspond to reality that these things are real. There are numerous arguments for why a Creator God exists, and why that seems to answer the tough questions in life best. Have you
read the Case for Faith? I found that helpful in my own spiritual journey. I walked away from God when I entered the military but have had my heart turned back to Him over the last few months. I also found the Case for Christ helpful. Lee Strobel does an excellent job of providing sound and understandable reasons for believing in the God of the Bible, and His Son Jesus Christ. I was skeptical too, but try reading these with an open mind. Faith still plays a part in this too, I
believe, but I find it encouraging to my faith to know that what I believe has a historical basis for it. The Bible is solidly rooted in history. The apostles who were with Jesus saw things first hand. 10 out of the 11 remaining disciples all dies martyrs deaths for their Savior. Does it make sense that they would have done this if they hadn't seen Jesus risen again? They saw Him die on the cross, and all the Jewish/Roman officals had to do was present Christ's body to stop the
growth of this new 'sect'. I think after reading and digesting those books, you will have a better picture of what the Bible represents, and better able to make an informed decision. We all have a choice to make in life, whether to believe in Christ or not. The least we can do is to take the time to thoroughly research the history and claims of the Bible and make a decision.
*Sorry about any typos I made. I will be praying for you on your journey :)
@aaronvangundy1 The bible is, what, 2000 years old? Do you really read something in a 2000 year old book and think: "this has to be true!" THAT is my problem. Just accepting something without evidence. Also, the God of the bible seems like a horrific entity to tell you the truth. He is jealous, commits genocide, etc. Why would we call someone like that God? You cant present a shred of evidence for God's existence, the bible does not count as solid evidence.
@l0rdoflol Most of the New Testament is about 2000 years old. The majority of the Old Testament is older. No, I don't look at something and decide it to be true because of its age alone. You say it is accepting something without evidence, but there is a lot of evidence for the integrity of the Scriptures. In the Case for Christ, Strobel interviews experts (with very impressive credentials--I highly suggest you check it out) about the authenticity and reliability of the Gospels. From
@aaronvangundy1 what I read I was convinced that the message of the Gospels has been reliably passed down through the ages, far more than any other historical texts that no one argues with. The numbers are really quite staggering. If you would like, I could send you a copy of the book. My email is aaron.vangundy1@gmail.com if you would want to send me your address. I understand that this is hard to digest, and it was for me as well. But after I came to see that what is presented
@aaronvangundy1 in the Gospels is an accurate portrayal of what happened almost 2000 years ago, I was faced with a choice. What would I do with the Jesus? Would I say that He was crazy? Or a liar and deceiver? I read through the four Gospels and couldn't honestly draw that conclusion. There are some hard things I still struggle with, but I began to see that most likely Christ is who He said He is. I wish I were better at explaining, but I really encourage you to read the books by
@aaronvangundy1 Strobel in your journey for Truth. And that offer to send you a copy of that book is for anyone. I have been on the skeptics side and understand where you are at, I believe. I admire and appreciate your intellectual honesty. We all would do well to have more of that in our lives.
@aaronvangundy1 As far as im concerned, im not currently on a "journey" anywhere, i have safely landed on the platform of science and reason. The only way to pry me off this platform, is to present me with evidence that renders my belifes untrue. I belive that Napolen lived, because we can see his impact in history, (Napoleon wars etc.). I dont belive that the gospels have any crdibility because there is no evidence that God did, what they say he did
@l0rdoflol except for them saying he did it. No concrete proof, no reliable evidence. That is why i reject the idea of God/jesus. Sience does a better job of explaining the natural world we live in.
@l0rdoflol So am I correct in saying that you adhere completely to naturalism? Do you believe the only truth we can know is what we can empirically observe and test? I do not understand how you can say we do not see the impact of Jesus in history. He completely reformed the social ethic of our world. The ideas of giving to the poor, sacrificing oneself for the sake of others, and for loving those who are our enemies are directly from His teachings. There is very solid evidence that
@aaronvangundy1 Jesus existed and taught what the Gospels record. There were eyewitnesses to His miracles and it changed their lives forever. From what they saw they were willing to give up everything and die for. They saw Jesus die on the cross. Does it make sense that they all would die for a lie? Do you believe Jesus was a real person who walked on the Earth?
@aaronvangundy1 I was thinking about this some more, and would like some more clarification. Since neither of us were alive when Napoleon was, we have to take the word of historians and those who knew him. How do we verify that these people told the truth and did not merely make this character up? The number of documents that verify the New Testament are much more numerous than any other ancient texts. There is far more evidence that Jesus existed than Julius Caesar.
@aaronvangundy1 I subscripe to the idea, that evidence and logic is the best way to approach the world. If that is naturalism, then sure i'm a naturalist. I also want to clarify: I'm agnostic: i dont know if there is a god. I cant with absolute certianty disprove him, nor can i prove his existence. You cant prove that morals and ethics are only a product of the teachings of Jesus, and not a result of evolution (big brains, able to reflect and understand).
@l0rdoflol And yes, you are right, we can never be 100% sure about history. But that should also shake your belief in jesus and the extrodinairy claims that surround him, as he was (if he exsited), a historical figure. We only have anicent texts and eye witnesses to rely on, that is not good enough for me. There is TONS of sources that support the history of Napolen and Caesar. It may not be 100% accurate, but it fits with the course of history, that is what makes it plausible in my view.
@l0rdoflol I agree that science and logic are a good approach to understanding the physical world. But I think that by their very nature they are limited to that realm. How do we scientifically prove love, faith, hope, friendship, bravery, sympathy, and good will? We can see the evidence of these things, but how do we quantify and rationalize them? I did not say that morals and ethics were introduced in their entirety by Jesus, but that He introduced a new ethic that the world had not
@aaronvangundy1 encountered before. We see the evidence of that today in our social programs and sympathies for the poor, widowed, orphaned, and less fortunate. The seeds of liberation for slaves and women are also found in the Bible. There are a number of texts that support Caesar and Napoleon, but there are many, many more that support the existence of Jesus Christ. Jesus' influence is so much more prominent in history than was Caesar's. I do not see how they compare. You say
@aaronvangundy1 that historical texts and eyewitness accounts are not enough for you, but that is what history is. We only know about these other kings and rulers of the past because a historian wrote it down for us. The number of accounts of Jesus being who He said He was is staggering. I do not think there is any way to honestly discount His existence. What we do with it, however is up to us. It took me a while to come to terms with this, and I did not like the idea of giving
@aaronvangundy1 up they way I was living my life to follow this "Jesus guy". Yet the more I read and researched, the more I became convinced that Jesus did die on the cross and was resurrected through the power of God. It is hard to swallow at first, and seems like foolishness (which the Bible itself admits in 1 Corinthians 1), but I came to the point where I had to make a choice. I appreciate that you ask hard questions and are seeking after truth. I do not have all the answers
@aaronvangundy1 500 years ago, man could not explain earthquakes or disease, and belived that the sun orbited the earth. Since then science has given us the answer to these questions. Just because science cant explain something, does not make it a act of god, or something that only religion can explain. Saying that the bible has planted the seed of liberation for women, is false. Most suppression of women through history are based on religion.
@l0rdoflol Colossians 3:18 - Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Slavery is rampant through both the old and new testament. And yes i realize history is based on texts and eye witness, but what i meant was, that it doesent prove the extrodinary claims about Jesus (ressurection, virgin birth, healing) - not his existence. Bad formulation on my part. There are many secular/atheist/agnositc organisations that do charity by the way.
@l0rdoflol I completely disagree that there are logical reasons for beliving in Jesus and God. There are so many contradictions throughout the Bible, and why does not god/jesus intervene with all the horrible things happening in the world? Makes no sense to me.
@l0rdoflol I completely agree that science is a great tool that has given much deeper insights into how the world works. But doesn't the very order that we are discovering at both the sub-atomic and multi-galaxy levels make you question the cosmological implications? Science is limited to what is observable by its very definition. I believe there is more to life than what is physically quantifiable. Suppression of women has been both a relgious and cultural reality throughout history,
@aaronvangundy1 but the Bible goes against that in many ways. There are numerous stories of God choosing women over men to accomplish amazing things. I think it interesting that you left out Colossians 3:19 which says Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. The Bible portrays men and women as equal before God, both being created by Him, but having different roles. One isn't better than the other. Slavery is a given throughout the Bible, yes, but in the Old
@aaronvangundy1 Testaments the Israelites were instructed to let their slaves rest one day every week, and every seven years to free all their slaves. What other culture/religion did that? The Bible's primary intent isn't to change society, but to to change people and their heart to God. William Wilberforce, who started the Anti-slavery movment in England which spread to America was a devout Christian who used his beliefs as a launching pad for confronting the evils of slavery.
@aaronvangundy1 In the New Testament, the people who own slaves are called to treat them as brothers of the Lord and to treat them in such a way that brings glory to God. The reality is that slavery in the times of the Old and New Testament was vastly different from the slavery found in the Americas. So you do believe that Jesus walked on the Earth? It is difficult to believe in miracles and supernatural activities without seeing them first hand, but if I believe that Jesus
@aaronvangundy1 did walk this Earth, then I am faced with a choice of seeing him as either a liar, lunatic, or being who He said He was. If Jesus had not done what is recorded in the Gospels, the early Christian church would never have gotten started. They were being persecuted, beaten, and killed for their faith in this Jesus. They were people who had seen or heard first hand from those who had seen Jesus' miracles and works. I completely agree that there are many secular
@aaronvangundy1 organizations today that help the poor and do amazing things in the world..no doubt about that. But was this seen before Christianity? I would contend that the social ethic so prominent in our world today (which is a good thing) has much of its origins in Jewish/Christian teachings. What contradictions in the Bible are you referring to? My hunch is that none of these contradictions challenge the birth, death, resurrection, and salvation of Jesus Christ for us. I
@aaronvangundy1 have a difficult time with the problem of pain and suffering in the world as well. But how does science answer those questions? How does science account for evil? How does science account for good? I think it makes sense that much of the evil we see in this world is on account of humanity turning its back on God. We are living with the consequences of choices made by our forefathers, but God, in his infinite love, has still made a way for us to come to Him. This
@aaronvangundy1 is probably what I have the most personal struggles with, because I have had friends and family pass away that I couldn't understand why. Yet I also see that all of us on this Earth will die one day, so the question is really for all of us. I think that's one of the beautiful things about Christ's story, is that He overcame death and gives us hope through Him so that we have no need to fear it. And that is a wonderful place to be.
@aaronvangundy1 I dont see any reason to belive in anything but the natural world we see around us. When i see the sub atomic discoveries, and the wastness of the cosmos, it does not make me belive in a god. I think this is a field that science has yet to fully understand and explore.
Regarding slavery, in (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT) (wont quote it here scince the exerpt is so long) it basicly says that they can make a freed slave become a permanent slave by keeping his children and wife hostage. What kind of family values are that? And, yes the bible may also say that slavery is bad: it only backs up my argument that it is full of contradictions. like here:
EXO 15:3 The LORD is a man of war: the LORD is his name.
ROM 15:33 Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
@l0rdoflol it really bothers me when people say moral and ethics come primaraly from religion. Christians do good, due to reward/ punishment. One the one side: eternal paradise. One the other: eternal damnation. The implication: you only to good to save you'r own skin in the end. If you're a atheist and you do good, you really, truly expect nothing in return. THAT is true morality to me.
@l0rdoflol How do you explain that there are SO many gods, SO many different interpretations of the bible and everyone claims to be right? It is the theist who has the burden of proof scine you cant really disprove something. The God of the bible have done some truly terrible things. Last i wanna say this: You are a atheist on every single god, except one. All i've done is take it one step further.
@l0rdoflol I do not have a complete explanation for this, but I think there are intelligent ways to approach this. When comparing world religions and worldviews, I believe there a number of factors to consider in your approach. To me, a religion/worldview that is true must have good, logical, and consistent answers to the big questions of life. From my reading and studying, I decided that Christianity answered these best. The key questions I considered were origin, meaning, morality,
@aaronvangundy1 and destiny. I found the answers to Christianity seemed to best describle the universe I observe, and to answer the questions and longings of my soul. I realize this is subjective, and people have come to different conclusions. But I have to be intellectually honest with myself, and this has been the result of my journey so far. Do we not both have the burden of proof here? We bring our best arguments, reasonings, and experiences to the table and share with the
@aaronvangundy1 other what we think. There are things in the Old Testament that are hard to understand, but keep in mind that before a Holy God, all of mankind is guilty. All have sinned and deserved death. Ultimately, He does have the right do do as He pleases with what He created. However, God still has chosen to provide a way at such a huge cost to Himself through His son Jesus for us! We should be so in awe of a God who would do that! How many times are we willing to forgive
@aaronvangundy1 people in who keep offending us or do wrong to us? I do not think your argument about taking it one step further is very sound. If something is true, then it follows that all else that contradicts that truth is false. I believe all other world religions contradict the God revealed in the Bible, so I disbelieve that they are true. It is the same with a known truth in mathematics. If I know the derivative of 3x^2+3x is 6x+3, then that is the only right answer. I am
@aaronvangundy1 not being intolerant or illogical by saying that 5x or 6x+1 or 2 are not the right answer, I am simply saying that according to the information available, 6x+3 is the right answer to the question. Now I understand that you do not believe the Bible to be true, but that would be a different argument. I am merely saying your logic is really not applicable.
@aaronvangundy1 Thank you for continuing to share your thoughts, questions, and answers. Youtube isn't the best forum for so much typing..lol (I keep getting prompted to verify that I am a person from all the responses). So I appreciate your willingness to persevere :)
@aaronvangundy1 Science and natural forces cant explain how everything came to be. My problem with your argument, is that you, (religious people in general), seems so insistent that there HAVE to be a supernatural entity and realm. My answer: I dont know if there is, cant prove or disprove it. But lets not cling to medival beliefs and make up stories. Lets try to figure it out!
@l0rdoflol Ok, lets just agree that slavery is bad. My point is, the Bible is not the entire reason why we got rid of slavery. Abraham Lincon is often considered the man who championed the liberation of slaves. He never joined a church, and its debatable if you really can label him as a Christian.
@l0rdoflol I also wonder why you seem to be satisfied by beeing so sumbissive to a autority (in this case God). So its okay if he massacers the entire world (the flood), or starts a war to get what he wants? He seems so human. Humans start wars, and commit horrible crimes to get what they want. Thats human imperfection at its worst, a attribute your god seems to have.
@l0rdoflol A group individuals who treat one another well will prevail in cometition with other groups. People who help their relatives could en up not having offspring. However, as a result of their behaviour, their group will have more surviving offspring who will carry the genes of the self-sacrificing individuals.
@l0rdoflol Therefore the genes that dispose people to behave that way will not be eliminated by natural selection but will in fact do well in competition with the genes of people who do not help relatives. If humans care about each other in general, we are more likely to advance our race then if we treated each other poorly. Is god/jesus the only reason why you dont rape and kill?
@l0rdoflol Your god HAVE commited genocide, and uses war for his own means. "When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property." (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB) - Thats Jesus talking. Why would you want morals from a entity like this? So the only way to avoid burning in hell is accepting Jesus? That seems tyrannical.
@l0rdoflol Answer this for me. At some point you opened your hearth to God. And that is usually what i hear, open you hearth up to God, and he will respond. Well, why is it that a person born in the middle east, who opens his/hers hearth up to god, finds allah, and not the christian god.
God has the right to do whatever he wants? So a parent has the right to do whatevery they may please with their child, and we cannot question their behavior? That is riddiculus, and you know it.
@l0rdoflol Your anology that there is only one answer in math, does not apply to this debate. EVERYONE that belives in "a god" insists that they have the only right answer. So basically one person claims that 2+2=5, another 6, another 7 and so on. I think they're all wrong. You cant disprove their gods, anymore than i can.
@l0rdoflol Finaly i come back to my original point: you cant prove god. That really is the crux of the matter. Honestly, and forgive me for assuming, i think you find the unknown scary. I think you find it so scary that you take refuge in religion, which offers simple answers to incredibly complex questions. I find the unkown fascinating, as does science.
I will say, it is nice to be able to debate someone, who does not hide behind "its my faith, you cant question it."
@l0rdoflol Ultimately I believe you are right. I will never be able to convince you entirely of the existence of God. And you will never be able to convince me entirely that God does not exist. We are both left with the decision to make based on the evidences we have available to us. The unknown is scary (a very common human fear), and that is one of the great things about Christ, is that He has given us hope in Him, rather than despair. If this is the only life we have, and there is
@aaronvangundy1 no eternity, then we all have reason to despair ultimately. Our lives have no real consequence, because in either a few hundred, thousand, or million years humanity will cease to exist whether because we destroy ourselves, the sun collapses and we haven't escaped the solar system, or the universe itself stops expanding and collapses (the big crunch). That is a depressing reality, I think, to live with. I place my hope and faith in God and Jesus Christ. I disagree
@aaronvangundy1 that Christainity has simple answers to complex questions. It gives answers that are easy to understand on the surface, but contain great depths in their implications and designs. That is why I enjoy science so much. It is fascinating to learn more of the world, and to look at God's handiwork on a much closer scale.
I enjoy our debates/discussions as well. My intent is not so much to convince you I am right, but to show that there are intellectually coherent and
@aaronvangundy1 reasonable answers for many of the objections people have of Christianity, God, and Christ. I know too well that I do not have all the answers, but I am enjoying thinking through my own faith more by your questions and challenges.
@aaronvangundy1 I appreciate your kind words. Religion is a subject i find fascinating (probably not for the same reasons as you do), and i enjoy debating the subject. i read your entire response, and feel there is little point to keep going with this discussion, since ulitimately, (as we both agreed upon), we will not agree. I cant disprove your God, nor can you objectivly prove him.
@l0rdoflol I am not saying that when we eventually die, there is nothing more. I'm saying i dont know what happens after death. I think science will, time given, come close to understand almost everything. Almost. I cant definetly say that science will explain how the universe came to be. Again, thanks for the lively debate, you did present you case in a calm coherent way which is always nice. I fervently disagree with you, but we'll not resolve that here.
@l0rdoflol Thank you for your words as well. I appreciate that we can discuss our beliefs and reasonings without succumbing to namecalling or false rhetoric. I think life is an amazing journey, so I wish you well on yours. Science is a powerful and amazing tool, on that we both agree :). I enjoyed our discussion immensely. And even though you might think it all for not, I will continue to pray for you (you can't stop me from that..haha). All the best l0rdoflol.
@l0rdoflol I disagree, and believe that the analogy does apply. Just because someone may vehemently state that their solution to the math problem is right, does not give them the same standing. The weight of their answer/conclusion is based on the reasonings/steps they took to get to the answer. I believe that Christianity stands alone as the most consistent, verifiable, practical, and demonstable worldview. Someone has to be right, and it is up to us to weigh the facts and judge to
@aaronvangundy1 the best of our abilities. Way smarter people than I have come to the conclusion that Christianity is true. As well, way smarter people than I have come to the conclusion that Atheism, Islam, Buddhism, etc are true. So what am I to do? I could throw my hands up in the air and say that I'll never know the truth, and just say that nobody is right, or they are all partially right, etc. But I believe in objective truth, and because the major worldviews hold
@aaronvangundy1 very contradictory beliefs, I cannot honestly believe that. So the task is left for me to make a decision on the facts, information, experience, and reasoning I have at my disposal (which I wish were much higher on all accounts!). This is the great question of life in my mind, so I find it fascinating to discuss, share, and learn with others.
@l0rdoflol Good question. I believe having an open, honest, and searching heart is important to finding God. I agree that culture has a large influence on our beliefs. Our families do as well. However, there are millions of personal testimonies of people from all over the world believing in Jesus Christ, and being radically transformed. Just as there are cases of people raised in Christian homes who convert to another faith (including Atheism, Agnosticism, etc). I looked at all the
@aaronvangundy1 resources I had available, and found that intellectually, relationiall, and emotionally Christianity had the best answers for explaining life and the major questions.
Yes, God has the right to do whatever He wants. Here is the fallacy in your comparison of God to parents. God, as described in the Bible, is perfect. Therefore He cannot sin, do wrong, or do evil. He is in a completely different league than the rest of us. Therefore, though I may not understand HIs
@aaronvangundy1 ways completely, I believe He knows best because I have believed that the Bible contains truth about Him (yes, I know you disagree that the Bible is true, but because I believe it is true, I use it as a basis for my arguments about the nature of God. You will have to disagree then out of principle, and because we are not starting from the same logical standing, we will come to different conclusions).
@l0rdoflol God has ordered the destruction of people groups, and all of humanity (except one family) in the flood. I cannot answer for God. The best I can do is to understand that God hates sin and evil so much that He demands justice for this. But we see this in our own lives. When we have been wronged, we demand justice as well. I agree with you that some of the laws in the Torah do not make sense to me. I think a lot can be attributed to the culture, and what was acceptable, but
@aaronvangundy1 still that seems to be a lame response (to be blunt). These laws however, have been superseded by Jesus and His teachings when He walked on the Earth. In Hebrews it talks of Christ as being the High Priest of a new covenant that has replaced the old covenant (Jewish Torah/Law). So while it is difficult to understand all of the laws of old, we today are under a new law. And that law is the grace of God through Christ. There is freedom within that law.
@l0rdoflol I understand your point. But this would lead to people only helping those in their own family or community, and neglecting the outside groups. You have said how important it is to assist the poor, needy, and enslaved around the world. I do not believe evolutionary biology can be used to rationalize that. A belief in the inherent value of all people because they are a creation, however, does. No, my belief in God is not the only reason I do not rape or kill. But it does give
@aaronvangundy1 me a solid moral foundation to stand upon when making choices. If something benefited your group to further your genes, then you would have to say it was allowable. What type of morals is that? Lying, cheating, stealing, etc for the good of the group (not for survival) would become good.
@l0rdoflol You make a very good point, and this is something I have struggled with. Who really likes to be under the authority of someone? Especially someone who calls you to act in ways often contrary to your nature? But I came to realize that we are all slaves to something (ourselves, others, God, etc). It is our choice to whom or to what we will bow our knees. But we all do. If I have but this one life to live, I choose to bow my knee to the God of the Bible. I have questions and
@aaronvangundy1 struggles with some things that are recorded in the Bible, and do not understand all of them. I really think what helped me was a study on the Holiness of God. The more I read and meditated on it, the more I came to see that the nature of holiness excludes even a hint of darkness or evil. The people groups that God ordered destroyed in the Old Testament had been warned again and again, but refused to repent. It seems harsh, but I came to see that if anything it
@aaronvangundy1 should make me more appreciative of Christ's work on the cross, and God's forbearance in judging the world today. I do not know how to justify God's judgment except to look at it in light of the cross. I realize this is probably not a satisfactory answer to you, but it is something I still wrestle with as well.
@l0rdoflol I agree that slavery is bad. I understand your point, but would propose that the sentiments of slaves having rights before their masters has ultimately originated from Christian/Jewish teachings. No other culture/religion had such precedents. Slaves were always considered property, but in the New Testament (and one could argue there were shadows of it in the Old) masters are told to treat their servants/slaves as brothers in Christ. Abraham Lincoln is considered the man in
@aaronvangundy1 the United States who embodied the anti-slavery movement. His predecessor, and one who Lincoln followed closely, was William Wilberforce in England. His convictions were unexceptionably Christian. When he put his faith in Christ, his life was radically changed and his heart for the poor and enslaved became overflowing. I do not know the personal beliefs of Lincoln, I would have to research it.
@l0rdoflol I think that is an important point, and thank you for making that. I respect your honesty in that. You believe that eventually science/reason will find an answer for how this universe came from nothing? I do not see that as really possible. So to me, what makes the most sense is that a power/entity/being outside of the physical universe must have initiated creation. A first cause is required, and the first cause cannot be from the effect.
@l0rdoflol Where do you believe morals and ethics comes from, then? I do not see how a evolutionary view of the world accounts for them? If you completely followed it, would not natural selection and survival of the fittest be used to justify slavery, war, genocide, etc..? If I believe humans are nothing more than a smart animal, what moral restrictions can you really place on anyone? Anyone should be free to act as they will. That is a slippery slope. Why would you do good if you do
@aaronvangundy1 not believe there is anything more to life? The people you help are still just going to die eventually, and all your goodwill is worthless. You would be better off living for yourself and enjoying the few years left on the earth you have. Christians do not believe that their good works will save them, or earn them a ticket to heaven. We recognize that the only way to come before God is by accepting Jesus as our savior. It is His blood and sacrifice that saves us
@aaronvangundy1 from our sins, not our good works. Once we have accepted Jesus, though, a mark of our genuine faith is the desire to please Him in all that we do. One big way of doing that is to help people. Our motivation is not that we may save ourselves, but that we may show our love for God and Christ by helping those he loves (all mankind). Because of my belief that people are created specially by God and have eternal value, I have a solid foundation for my acts of service.
@aaronvangundy1 I want to clarify that I am deeply thankful for the millions of secular humanitarians that help people all over the world. They do so much to alleviate the suffering in the world, and that is amazing! Yet, if we only help people for a few years in this world, and neglect the reality of eternity (which I understand you disagree with), is that not a horrible thing?
@l0rdoflol Slavery was practiced by every ancient people of which there is any historical record: Egyptians, Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Syrians, Moabities, Ammonites, Edomites, Greeks, Romans, and all the rest. I agree that slavery is wrong, but at the time the laws for slaves given in the Torah were far better than other cultures. As times progressed, the teachings developed. Development of ideas/principles does not constitute a contradiction. Ex 15:3 is part of
@aaronvangundy1 Moses' and Israel's song in celebrating their freedom from Egypt (from where they had been slaves). God has many attributes and characteristics. He does use both war and peace to acheive His desires. Do I fully understand this? I do not. That is a great mystery. We ourselves hold attributes and characteristics that are opposites.
@l0rdoflol I come to a different conclusion than you. I look at the wonders science has revealed and it makes me marvel at the one who must have Created it. I can't believe chance made it all. How does something come from nothing? That is a huge (if not impossible) logical obstacle to overcome strictly by natural forces.
@l0rdoflol I don't base all of it on the bible. Some of the things that happen in my life though help reinforce my faith. Then there are also the things that he has done for my friends and familly.
I almsot want to cry when i see these people commenting on here that Jesus is fake. all those who try to save them god bless. and all those who dont beleive god bless, you will be in my prayers.
Look up the shroud of Turin if you don't believe in Jesus. It was the cloth his body was wrapped in Then watch the show The real face of Jesus. In the shroud they found 3D information embedded in the cloth. The information basicly proves what the bible says about him and how his body was taken in a flash of light. Its quite astonishing what science can prove. I am a believer because there is information to suggest that Christianity is the correct religion to follow.

10rdoflol - I'm wondering if you have evidence to disprove God?
hayenga4 3 weeks ago
@hayenga4 No, i cant disprove God. You cant prove him either. You cant disprove the flying spaghetti monster, or Allah, or Thor, or Odin, or Scientology or any other religious claim. That is why it is the theist, that has the burden of proof, because it is virtually impossible to disprove anything. The only "evidence" i've heard for God is: 1. Personal experience. 2. The Bible says so. 3. We cant explain everything. A weak excuse for evidence if you ask me.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@hayenga4 The only thing i can say is that evolution- which is a fact - does not mix with the biblical story of creation. So we have practically debunked Creationism.

@gloryTOGod794 Fair enough, but HOW do you know that God exits. Do you simply read it in the Bible and therefore assume that it is true?
l0rdoflol 1 month ago

I will be praying for you on your journey :)
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 The bible is, what, 2000 years old? Do you really read something in a 2000 year old book and think: "this has to be true!" THAT is my problem. Just accepting something without evidence. Also, the God of the bible seems like a horrific entity to tell you the truth. He is jealous, commits genocide, etc. Why would we call someone like that God? You cant present a shred of evidence for God's existence, the bible does not count as solid evidence.
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol Most of the New Testament is about 2000 years old. The majority of the Old Testament is older. No, I don't look at something and decide it to be true because of its age alone. You say it is accepting something without evidence, but there is a lot of evidence for the integrity of the Scriptures. In the Case for Christ, Strobel interviews experts (with very impressive credentials--I highly suggest you check it out) about the authenticity and reliability of the Gospels. From

We all would do well to have more of that in our lives.
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 As far as im concerned, im not currently on a "journey" anywhere, i have safely landed on the platform of science and reason. The only way to pry me off this platform, is to present me with evidence that renders my belifes untrue. I belive that Napolen lived, because we can see his impact in history, (Napoleon wars etc.). I dont belive that the gospels have any crdibility because there is no evidence that God did, what they say he did
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol except for them saying he did it. No concrete proof, no reliable evidence. That is why i reject the idea of God/jesus. Sience does a better job of explaining the natural world we live in.
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol So am I correct in saying that you adhere completely to naturalism? Do you believe the only truth we can know is what we can empirically observe and test? I do not understand how you can say we do not see the impact of Jesus in history. He completely reformed the social ethic of our world. The ideas of giving to the poor, sacrificing oneself for the sake of others, and for loving those who are our enemies are directly from His teachings. There is very solid evidence that
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 Jesus existed and taught what the Gospels record. There were eyewitnesses to His miracles and it changed their lives forever. From what they saw they were willing to give up everything and die for. They saw Jesus die on the cross. Does it make sense that they all would die for a lie? Do you believe Jesus was a real person who walked on the Earth?
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 I was thinking about this some more, and would like some more clarification. Since neither of us were alive when Napoleon was, we have to take the word of historians and those who knew him. How do we verify that these people told the truth and did not merely make this character up? The number of documents that verify the New Testament are much more numerous than any other ancient texts. There is far more evidence that Jesus existed than Julius Caesar.
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 I subscripe to the idea, that evidence and logic is the best way to approach the world. If that is naturalism, then sure i'm a naturalist. I also want to clarify: I'm agnostic: i dont know if there is a god. I cant with absolute certianty disprove him, nor can i prove his existence. You cant prove that morals and ethics are only a product of the teachings of Jesus, and not a result of evolution (big brains, able to reflect and understand).
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol And yes, you are right, we can never be 100% sure about history. But that should also shake your belief in jesus and the extrodinairy claims that surround him, as he was (if he exsited), a historical figure. We only have anicent texts and eye witnesses to rely on, that is not good enough for me. There is TONS of sources that support the history of Napolen and Caesar. It may not be 100% accurate, but it fits with the course of history, that is what makes it plausible in my view.
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol I agree that science and logic are a good approach to understanding the physical world. But I think that by their very nature they are limited to that realm. How do we scientifically prove love, faith, hope, friendship, bravery, sympathy, and good will? We can see the evidence of these things, but how do we quantify and rationalize them? I did not say that morals and ethics were introduced in their entirety by Jesus, but that He introduced a new ethic that the world had not
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 encountered before. We see the evidence of that today in our social programs and sympathies for the poor, widowed, orphaned, and less fortunate. The seeds of liberation for slaves and women are also found in the Bible. There are a number of texts that support Caesar and Napoleon, but there are many, many more that support the existence of Jesus Christ. Jesus' influence is so much more prominent in history than was Caesar's. I do not see how they compare. You say
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago

I do not have all the answers
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 by any means, but I believe that there are logical and intelligent reasons for believing in Jesus. Friend, is it ok I pray for you?
aaronvangundy1 1 month ago
@aaronvangundy1 500 years ago, man could not explain earthquakes or disease, and belived that the sun orbited the earth. Since then science has given us the answer to these questions. Just because science cant explain something, does not make it a act of god, or something that only religion can explain. Saying that the bible has planted the seed of liberation for women, is false. Most suppression of women through history are based on religion.
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol Colossians 3:18 - Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Slavery is rampant through both the old and new testament. And yes i realize history is based on texts and eye witness, but what i meant was, that it doesent prove the extrodinary claims about Jesus (ressurection, virgin birth, healing) - not his existence. Bad formulation on my part. There are many secular/atheist/agnositc organisations that do charity by the way.
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol I completely disagree that there are logical reasons for beliving in Jesus and God. There are so many contradictions throughout the Bible, and why does not god/jesus intervene with all the horrible things happening in the world? Makes no sense to me.
l0rdoflol 1 month ago
@l0rdoflol I completely agree that science is a great tool that has given much deeper insights into how the world works. But doesn't the very order that we are discovering at both the sub-atomic and multi-galaxy levels make you question the cosmological implications? Science is limited to what is observable by its very definition. I believe there is more to life than what is physically quantifiable. Suppression of women has been both a relgious and cultural reality throughout history,
aaronvangundy1 4 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 but the Bible goes against that in many ways. There are numerous stories of God choosing women over men to accomplish amazing things. I think it interesting that you left out Colossians 3:19 which says Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them. The Bible portrays men and women as equal before God, both being created by Him, but having different roles. One isn't better than the other. Slavery is a given throughout the Bible, yes, but in the Old
aaronvangundy1 4 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 Testaments the Israelites were instructed to let their slaves rest one day every week, and every seven years to free all their slaves. What other culture/religion did that? The Bible's primary intent isn't to change society, but to to change people and their heart to God. William Wilberforce, who started the Anti-slavery movment in England which spread to America was a devout Christian who used his beliefs as a launching pad for confronting the evils of slavery.
aaronvangundy1 4 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 In the New Testament, the people who own slaves are called to treat them as brothers of the Lord and to treat them in such a way that brings glory to God. The reality is that slavery in the times of the Old and New Testament was vastly different from the slavery found in the Americas. So you do believe that Jesus walked on the Earth? It is difficult to believe in miracles and supernatural activities without seeing them first hand, but if I believe that Jesus
aaronvangundy1 4 weeks ago

aaronvangundy1 4 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 have a difficult time with the problem of pain and suffering in the world as well. But how does science answer those questions? How does science account for evil? How does science account for good? I think it makes sense that much of the evil we see in this world is on account of humanity turning its back on God. We are living with the consequences of choices made by our forefathers, but God, in his infinite love, has still made a way for us to come to Him. This
aaronvangundy1 4 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 is probably what I have the most personal struggles with, because I have had friends and family pass away that I couldn't understand why. Yet I also see that all of us on this Earth will die one day, so the question is really for all of us. I think that's one of the beautiful things about Christ's story, is that He overcame death and gives us hope through Him so that we have no need to fear it. And that is a wonderful place to be.
aaronvangundy1 4 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 I dont see any reason to belive in anything but the natural world we see around us. When i see the sub atomic discoveries, and the wastness of the cosmos, it does not make me belive in a god. I think this is a field that science has yet to fully understand and explore.

Regarding slavery, in (Exodus 21:2-6 NLT) (wont quote it here scince the exerpt is so long) it basicly says that they can make a freed slave become a permanent slave by keeping his children and wife hostage. What kind of family values are that? And, yes the bible may also say that slavery is bad: it only backs up my argument that it is full of contradictions. like here:

@l0rdoflol it really bothers me when people say moral and ethics come primaraly from religion. Christians do good, due to reward/ punishment. One the one side: eternal paradise. One the other: eternal damnation. The implication: you only to good to save you'r own skin in the end. If you're a atheist and you do good, you really, truly expect nothing in return. THAT is true morality to me.
l0rdoflol 4 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol How do you explain that there are SO many gods, SO many different interpretations of the bible and everyone claims to be right? It is the theist who has the burden of proof scine you cant really disprove something. The God of the bible have done some truly terrible things. Last i wanna say this: You are a atheist on every single god, except one. All i've done is take it one step further.
l0rdoflol 4 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I do not have a complete explanation for this, but I think there are intelligent ways to approach this. When comparing world religions and worldviews, I believe there a number of factors to consider in your approach. To me, a religion/worldview that is true must have good, logical, and consistent answers to the big questions of life. From my reading and studying, I decided that Christianity answered these best. The key questions I considered were origin, meaning, morality,
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 and destiny. I found the answers to Christianity seemed to best describle the universe I observe, and to answer the questions and longings of my soul. I realize this is subjective, and people have come to different conclusions. But I have to be intellectually honest with myself, and this has been the result of my journey so far. Do we not both have the burden of proof here? We bring our best arguments, reasonings, and experiences to the table and share with the
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 other what we think. There are things in the Old Testament that are hard to understand, but keep in mind that before a Holy God, all of mankind is guilty. All have sinned and deserved death. Ultimately, He does have the right do do as He pleases with what He created. However, God still has chosen to provide a way at such a huge cost to Himself through His son Jesus for us! We should be so in awe of a God who would do that! How many times are we willing to forgive
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 people in who keep offending us or do wrong to us? I do not think your argument about taking it one step further is very sound. If something is true, then it follows that all else that contradicts that truth is false. I believe all other world religions contradict the God revealed in the Bible, so I disbelieve that they are true. It is the same with a known truth in mathematics. If I know the derivative of 3x^2+3x is 6x+3, then that is the only right answer. I am
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 not being intolerant or illogical by saying that 5x or 6x+1 or 2 are not the right answer, I am simply saying that according to the information available, 6x+3 is the right answer to the question. Now I understand that you do not believe the Bible to be true, but that would be a different argument. I am merely saying your logic is really not applicable.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 Thank you for continuing to share your thoughts, questions, and answers. Youtube isn't the best forum for so much typing..lol (I keep getting prompted to verify that I am a person from all the responses). So I appreciate your willingness to persevere :)
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 Science and natural forces cant explain how everything came to be. My problem with your argument, is that you, (religious people in general), seems so insistent that there HAVE to be a supernatural entity and realm. My answer: I dont know if there is, cant prove or disprove it. But lets not cling to medival beliefs and make up stories. Lets try to figure it out!
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Ok, lets just agree that slavery is bad. My point is, the Bible is not the entire reason why we got rid of slavery. Abraham Lincon is often considered the man who championed the liberation of slaves. He never joined a church, and its debatable if you really can label him as a Christian.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I also wonder why you seem to be satisfied by beeing so sumbissive to a autority (in this case God). So its okay if he massacers the entire world (the flood), or starts a war to get what he wants? He seems so human. Humans start wars, and commit horrible crimes to get what they want. Thats human imperfection at its worst, a attribute your god seems to have.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol A group individuals who treat one another well will prevail in cometition with other groups. People who help their relatives could en up not having offspring. However, as a result of their behaviour, their group will have more surviving offspring who will carry the genes of the self-sacrificing individuals.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Therefore the genes that dispose people to behave that way will not be eliminated by natural selection but will in fact do well in competition with the genes of people who do not help relatives. If humans care about each other in general, we are more likely to advance our race then if we treated each other poorly. Is god/jesus the only reason why you dont rape and kill?
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Your god HAVE commited genocide, and uses war for his own means. "When a man strikes his male or female slave with a rod so hard that the slave dies under his hand, he shall be punished. If, however, the slave survives for a day or two, he is not to be punished, since the slave is his own property." (Exodus 21:20-21 NAB) - Thats Jesus talking. Why would you want morals from a entity like this? So the only way to avoid burning in hell is accepting Jesus? That seems tyrannical.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Answer this for me. At some point you opened your hearth to God. And that is usually what i hear, open you hearth up to God, and he will respond. Well, why is it that a person born in the middle east, who opens his/hers hearth up to god, finds allah, and not the christian god.
God has the right to do whatever he wants? So a parent has the right to do whatevery they may please with their child, and we cannot question their behavior? That is riddiculus, and you know it.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Your anology that there is only one answer in math, does not apply to this debate. EVERYONE that belives in "a god" insists that they have the only right answer. So basically one person claims that 2+2=5, another 6, another 7 and so on. I think they're all wrong. You cant disprove their gods, anymore than i can.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Finaly i come back to my original point: you cant prove god. That really is the crux of the matter. Honestly, and forgive me for assuming, i think you find the unknown scary. I think you find it so scary that you take refuge in religion, which offers simple answers to incredibly complex questions. I find the unkown fascinating, as does science.
I will say, it is nice to be able to debate someone, who does not hide behind "its my faith, you cant question it."
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Ultimately I believe you are right. I will never be able to convince you entirely of the existence of God. And you will never be able to convince me entirely that God does not exist. We are both left with the decision to make based on the evidences we have available to us. The unknown is scary (a very common human fear), and that is one of the great things about Christ, is that He has given us hope in Him, rather than despair. If this is the only life we have, and there is
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 no eternity, then we all have reason to despair ultimately. Our lives have no real consequence, because in either a few hundred, thousand, or million years humanity will cease to exist whether because we destroy ourselves, the sun collapses and we haven't escaped the solar system, or the universe itself stops expanding and collapses (the big crunch). That is a depressing reality, I think, to live with. I place my hope and faith in God and Jesus Christ. I disagree
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 that Christainity has simple answers to complex questions. It gives answers that are easy to understand on the surface, but contain great depths in their implications and designs. That is why I enjoy science so much. It is fascinating to learn more of the world, and to look at God's handiwork on a much closer scale.
I enjoy our debates/discussions as well. My intent is not so much to convince you I am right, but to show that there are intellectually coherent and
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 reasonable answers for many of the objections people have of Christianity, God, and Christ. I know too well that I do not have all the answers, but I am enjoying thinking through my own faith more by your questions and challenges.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 I appreciate your kind words. Religion is a subject i find fascinating (probably not for the same reasons as you do), and i enjoy debating the subject. i read your entire response, and feel there is little point to keep going with this discussion, since ulitimately, (as we both agreed upon), we will not agree. I cant disprove your God, nor can you objectivly prove him.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I am not saying that when we eventually die, there is nothing more. I'm saying i dont know what happens after death. I think science will, time given, come close to understand almost everything. Almost. I cant definetly say that science will explain how the universe came to be. Again, thanks for the lively debate, you did present you case in a calm coherent way which is always nice. I fervently disagree with you, but we'll not resolve that here.
l0rdoflol 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Thank you for your words as well. I appreciate that we can discuss our beliefs and reasonings without succumbing to namecalling or false rhetoric. I think life is an amazing journey, so I wish you well on yours. Science is a powerful and amazing tool, on that we both agree :). I enjoyed our discussion immensely. And even though you might think it all for not, I will continue to pray for you (you can't stop me from that..haha). All the best l0rdoflol.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I disagree, and believe that the analogy does apply. Just because someone may vehemently state that their solution to the math problem is right, does not give them the same standing. The weight of their answer/conclusion is based on the reasonings/steps they took to get to the answer. I believe that Christianity stands alone as the most consistent, verifiable, practical, and demonstable worldview. Someone has to be right, and it is up to us to weigh the facts and judge to
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 the best of our abilities. Way smarter people than I have come to the conclusion that Christianity is true. As well, way smarter people than I have come to the conclusion that Atheism, Islam, Buddhism, etc are true. So what am I to do? I could throw my hands up in the air and say that I'll never know the truth, and just say that nobody is right, or they are all partially right, etc. But I believe in objective truth, and because the major worldviews hold
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 very contradictory beliefs, I cannot honestly believe that. So the task is left for me to make a decision on the facts, information, experience, and reasoning I have at my disposal (which I wish were much higher on all accounts!). This is the great question of life in my mind, so I find it fascinating to discuss, share, and learn with others.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Good question. I believe having an open, honest, and searching heart is important to finding God. I agree that culture has a large influence on our beliefs. Our families do as well. However, there are millions of personal testimonies of people from all over the world believing in Jesus Christ, and being radically transformed. Just as there are cases of people raised in Christian homes who convert to another faith (including Atheism, Agnosticism, etc). I looked at all the
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 resources I had available, and found that intellectually, relationiall, and emotionally Christianity had the best answers for explaining life and the major questions.
Yes, God has the right to do whatever He wants. Here is the fallacy in your comparison of God to parents. God, as described in the Bible, is perfect. Therefore He cannot sin, do wrong, or do evil. He is in a completely different league than the rest of us. Therefore, though I may not understand HIs
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 ways completely, I believe He knows best because I have believed that the Bible contains truth about Him (yes, I know you disagree that the Bible is true, but because I believe it is true, I use it as a basis for my arguments about the nature of God. You will have to disagree then out of principle, and because we are not starting from the same logical standing, we will come to different conclusions).
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol God has ordered the destruction of people groups, and all of humanity (except one family) in the flood. I cannot answer for God. The best I can do is to understand that God hates sin and evil so much that He demands justice for this. But we see this in our own lives. When we have been wronged, we demand justice as well. I agree with you that some of the laws in the Torah do not make sense to me. I think a lot can be attributed to the culture, and what was acceptable, but
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 still that seems to be a lame response (to be blunt). These laws however, have been superseded by Jesus and His teachings when He walked on the Earth. In Hebrews it talks of Christ as being the High Priest of a new covenant that has replaced the old covenant (Jewish Torah/Law). So while it is difficult to understand all of the laws of old, we today are under a new law. And that law is the grace of God through Christ. There is freedom within that law.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I understand your point. But this would lead to people only helping those in their own family or community, and neglecting the outside groups. You have said how important it is to assist the poor, needy, and enslaved around the world. I do not believe evolutionary biology can be used to rationalize that. A belief in the inherent value of all people because they are a creation, however, does. No, my belief in God is not the only reason I do not rape or kill. But it does give
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 me a solid moral foundation to stand upon when making choices. If something benefited your group to further your genes, then you would have to say it was allowable. What type of morals is that? Lying, cheating, stealing, etc for the good of the group (not for survival) would become good.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol You make a very good point, and this is something I have struggled with. Who really likes to be under the authority of someone? Especially someone who calls you to act in ways often contrary to your nature? But I came to realize that we are all slaves to something (ourselves, others, God, etc). It is our choice to whom or to what we will bow our knees. But we all do. If I have but this one life to live, I choose to bow my knee to the God of the Bible. I have questions and
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 struggles with some things that are recorded in the Bible, and do not understand all of them. I really think what helped me was a study on the Holiness of God. The more I read and meditated on it, the more I came to see that the nature of holiness excludes even a hint of darkness or evil. The people groups that God ordered destroyed in the Old Testament had been warned again and again, but refused to repent. It seems harsh, but I came to see that if anything it
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 should make me more appreciative of Christ's work on the cross, and God's forbearance in judging the world today. I do not know how to justify God's judgment except to look at it in light of the cross. I realize this is probably not a satisfactory answer to you, but it is something I still wrestle with as well.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I agree that slavery is bad. I understand your point, but would propose that the sentiments of slaves having rights before their masters has ultimately originated from Christian/Jewish teachings. No other culture/religion had such precedents. Slaves were always considered property, but in the New Testament (and one could argue there were shadows of it in the Old) masters are told to treat their servants/slaves as brothers in Christ. Abraham Lincoln is considered the man in
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 the United States who embodied the anti-slavery movement. His predecessor, and one who Lincoln followed closely, was William Wilberforce in England. His convictions were unexceptionably Christian. When he put his faith in Christ, his life was radically changed and his heart for the poor and enslaved became overflowing. I do not know the personal beliefs of Lincoln, I would have to research it.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I think that is an important point, and thank you for making that. I respect your honesty in that. You believe that eventually science/reason will find an answer for how this universe came from nothing? I do not see that as really possible. So to me, what makes the most sense is that a power/entity/being outside of the physical universe must have initiated creation. A first cause is required, and the first cause cannot be from the effect.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Where do you believe morals and ethics comes from, then? I do not see how a evolutionary view of the world accounts for them? If you completely followed it, would not natural selection and survival of the fittest be used to justify slavery, war, genocide, etc..? If I believe humans are nothing more than a smart animal, what moral restrictions can you really place on anyone? Anyone should be free to act as they will. That is a slippery slope. Why would you do good if you do
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 not believe there is anything more to life? The people you help are still just going to die eventually, and all your goodwill is worthless. You would be better off living for yourself and enjoying the few years left on the earth you have. Christians do not believe that their good works will save them, or earn them a ticket to heaven. We recognize that the only way to come before God is by accepting Jesus as our savior. It is His blood and sacrifice that saves us
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 from our sins, not our good works. Once we have accepted Jesus, though, a mark of our genuine faith is the desire to please Him in all that we do. One big way of doing that is to help people. Our motivation is not that we may save ourselves, but that we may show our love for God and Christ by helping those he loves (all mankind). Because of my belief that people are created specially by God and have eternal value, I have a solid foundation for my acts of service.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 I want to clarify that I am deeply thankful for the millions of secular humanitarians that help people all over the world. They do so much to alleviate the suffering in the world, and that is amazing! Yet, if we only help people for a few years in this world, and neglect the reality of eternity (which I understand you disagree with), is that not a horrible thing?
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol Slavery was practiced by every ancient people of which there is any historical record: Egyptians, Sumerians, Babylonians, Assyrians, Phoenicians, Syrians, Moabities, Ammonites, Edomites, Greeks, Romans, and all the rest. I agree that slavery is wrong, but at the time the laws for slaves given in the Torah were far better than other cultures. As times progressed, the teachings developed. Development of ideas/principles does not constitute a contradiction. Ex 15:3 is part of
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@aaronvangundy1 Moses' and Israel's song in celebrating their freedom from Egypt (from where they had been slaves). God has many attributes and characteristics. He does use both war and peace to acheive His desires. Do I fully understand this? I do not. That is a great mystery. We ourselves hold attributes and characteristics that are opposites.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I come to a different conclusion than you. I look at the wonders science has revealed and it makes me marvel at the one who must have Created it. I can't believe chance made it all. How does something come from nothing? That is a huge (if not impossible) logical obstacle to overcome strictly by natural forces.
aaronvangundy1 3 weeks ago
@l0rdoflol I don't base all of it on the bible. Some of the things that happen in my life though help reinforce my faith. Then there are also the things that he has done for my friends and familly.

Jesus, like Krishna, Dionysus, and the other mushroom gods, stands with legs together, wears a crown of thorns, and a sash on his waist while being crucified. His legs together with arms outstretched on the cross make the same “T” shape as the mushroom during its optimum Round Table stage. The sash worn by Jesus is the ruffle found halfway up the stem of all amanitas, and Jesus’ thorny crown is the thorny mushroom top. . Jesus was a mushroom experience.

皆さん、おはようございます。お元気ですか?
日本は今。AM.5:30。まだ、夜明け前です。最近の私は毎朝、起きると、「I Can Only Imagine (by MercyMe)」を聴いて(賛美して)から、一日を始めます。何度も歌を聴いているうちに、だんだん気分が明るくなってきます。:D 皆さまの健康が守られ、お働きの上に主の豊かな祝福がありますよう お祈りいたします。 I love it ! Please God lift up my face. ☆ GOD BLESS YOU ALL !! Thank you from JAPAN
我喜欢它!请神抬起我的脸。☆上帝保佑你们!谢谢你来自日本。
