amazing as it is we're listening to sounds made from a blowhole. they still sound better than a lot of things produced by vocal cords however.

hang on whales hunt by sending out sound to pickup signals...so they probably detected a human closeby...isnt that dangerous? i dont understand the biology of it how can it differinciate people from prey

i'm pretty sure that this whale saw me with it's eyes as well as sensed that i was there. it probably differentiated me from prey because their prey are very tiny creatures in big numbers (and in alaska). not anything as large as a person. they're incredibly smart. check out 'bubble netting' , a hunting tool that humpbacks use...

@santostv hi there =) this whales eat very small organisms called phytoplancton and some times they also eat small fishes like hearing..they hunted their preys used a unique techenic called bubble net feeding..they understand what hapens around them by using ultrasound that work like an echo..very similar of the one used by bats.

Lovely to hear the wonderful to hear the sound of the humpback whale. I remember seeing a humpback swim towards a production platform in the North Sea while I was on the lower deck. It was still dark in the early hours of the morning. It slowly dived vertically right below me without breaking the surface. The white pectoral fins were so clear against the darkness. Magical sight!
