Well don't blame CBS totally. That stadium has major RF issues with 2 TV station antennas in the parking lot. Also unlike the NFL NCAA allows all local TV crews on the field so lots of RF flowing around the coach canceling out CBS signal. The NFL asings frequencies. Also on the platform Coach and VIP's put their hands over the antenna on the mic. The Gator bowl should have done a better job with the presentation and had their own mics and CBS gets the feed.

seriously??? a major historical moment and they lost the audio at this point??? god bless her for muscling her way through that crowd, but how about making it with a functional microphone????!!!!

Bowden put the STATE OF FLORIDA FOOTBALL ON THE MAP!
Sure, Florida Gators were OK (nice program, good players, terrific Gatorade), but they were regional. When Papa Bowden got to FSU in 1976, that man stepped up recruiting by keeping Florida high school players in-state & at FSU. Soon the other Florida schools followed: (Schnellenberger did the same at Miami in '79). This let Bowden recruit better out-of-state players. I'm going to miss that man.
