  • @pkhamidar2com Sir, it's dead-hang which disrupts you rotators cuff, so it should be avoided ever. You keep on doing your way, but kinesiology suggests otherwise. Have a nice day.

  • @antokindness you are absolutely correct. I think he meant 'supraspinatus' not superspinatus. Otherwise, deadhangs (letting your weight pull the humeral head slightly out of the glenoid fossa) is terrible. It can lead to overuse injuries such as glenoid labrum tears.

    Besides, with this exercise you are relying much more heavily on your Teres major/ minor, middle traps, and lats, not so much an exercise for supraspinatus.

  • @roundingp Il punto è che, per passare dalla posizione "lock-out" in basso all'azione muscolare della trazione verso l'alto, gli unici ad agire sono proprio i muscoli piccoli della cuffia dei rotatori delle spalle e quelli dei flessori dei gomiti: così, a ogni ripetizione, troppo carico andrebbe su questi, danneggiandoli alla lunga: esercitarsi per migliorare nella salute è diverso da esercitarsi per impressionare chi ti guarda. Ciao.

  • @antokindness it is actually BETTER for your shoulder to go all the way down cause then you develop strenght through the full range of motion and you strenghten your shoulder rotators

  • @Warsheeper It may look that way, BUT unfortunately the great stress that rotator-muscles have to face in moving your body from dead-hang up to the bar is VERY big: you risk to damage them before you can strenghten them: mine is a medical advice, man, then you do whatever you please...it's just and advice, not an order...Take care.

  • You are correct, I injured my left Trap by doing full range to exhaustion. Couldn't train (At all) for 8 weeks. As any body tension puled the trap and caused crippling head aches. Now I stop just shy of completely hanging.

  • I recommend returning to full extension, with the traps in the ears like at the beginning, to work the movement through a full range of motion. This ensures that no imbalances will develop and that the muscles are maximally stressed.

  • I think i hurt my shoulder a little when doing chinups (i couldnt do a full one so i tried jumping up the bar = bad idea) so now i switched to pullups and it doesn't hurt that way.. I hope my shoulder will heal eventually though but im a little worried

  • these safe-to-shoulders pull ups allow lats to be flexed during the whole set, so it's in my imho, the best way to do pull ups, like you do, nice man.

  • Yes, I believe the same as you. Full range of motion pull-ups can give too much stress on your rotators cuff, even if they remains very effective to improve on your back.

    Locking your shoulders-blades is like saying keeping your scapulae "almost close together and down" so to offer a good stabilyzation to the arms: in this video I show such a way to perform PULL-UPS and the result is a non FULL RANGE OF MOTION and a less demanding exercise on your shoulders (good for an average man and for a recovering athlete): when rotators cuff works isometrically as this way, it fatigates less; later when you become stronger, go full ROM safely.
