Don't cook at such high temperatures! Caramelising the sugar fucks up the burn rate. Just a side note I seem to get faster burn rates when using lyles golden syrup.
@Feuerwerksfreak1 oh okay thanks ;) i will try to get some corn syrup from the DM or Formhaus, and if they dont have some, i will test it with honey too.
@tobelleys if you add iron oxide to the mix yes 9it will lift a rocket into the air, with out the iron well ive never tryed it but i use sugar rocket mix to power my rockets and i must say it does as good a job as estes rocket motors, as a mater of fact its so good the nozzel size has to be much biger to keep it from catoing 1/2 inch pvc 5 3/2 inch drill size where as estes is 1/8 inch, you will find almost all your high powered rockets use sugar motors, and some use amonum perclorate...
@DarrenBananaramaman no it doesnt matter the color its still irom oxide, some people like yellow i use red only because its the same red used in the nike hercules missle system's four rocket booster clusters, im not sure if the color has anything to do with the color of smoke exhosted from the motor, but id say maybe it might, ive only got white and black from mine, i think the "green mojive G motors" are useing ether copper or green oxide these are AP motors single use motors,
HEY MAN! good tutorial! but i have a question...instead of putting glucose syrup, i can pu somthing else? sorry fir my bad english... i came from argentin... :D
@r2darky KNO(3) The 3 should be at the bottom, its not O cubed. Its all capitals as there are 3 elements present Potassium Nitrogen and Oxygen. Salt peter contains it but it is not pure. It is best if you can just buy it pure.
@themakingofstuff You can add a bit of red iron oxide or baking soda to slow the burn. I have more luck dry mixing though (just mix the saltpeter/sugar/iron oxide, and pour it over a griddle, mix thoroughly, then pour in engine mold). burns more consistently.
@l0rdsauron It doesn't really matter, syrup is just a binder. It'll just vary your consistencies. I have the best luck with Karo corn syrup when hot mixing.
The Corn Syrup/Glucose Syrup can be warmed for a few seconds in microwave. I INSIST on GLOVES!! In 1995 my batch went up and I was burned so bad that my fingers stuck together!!
You have NO notice- it ALL ((most)) burned up before I had a chance to pull away.
Sorry to hear, we don't tell people about the safety measures they should use(we should and most likely will from now on) but have put a disclaimer in the description.
This is alot more powerfull than our other rocket fuel, and can be explosive if too much is egnited at once, as you will see soon on our rocket board.
Whered you get the KNO3 in Australia?

once it turns into the the into a paste, can you whisk it to make it frothy (so as to add oxygen) or will it just break the whisk?

@CommanderTyphoon idk why u'd add oxygen to the fuel when kno3 serves as the oxydizer. bubbles in the fuel can cause explosions, too
