Charles Dodgson/Lewis Carroll is THE BEES' KNEES!!! If I were alive in his time I would probably have been really attracted to him. So intelligent and very beautiful.
You've done it again, BAJP, you read Lewis Carroll's poetry spiffingly! I'm sure he'd think that you did his work justice, I certainly do! :D
/i don't think you would have, really. He was an amazing writer, but he was a pedophile. Don't get me wrong, I love Lewis Carroll, but I would never want to meet him. xD
Take that as a suggestion. I suppose there are theatre groups in Britain just as here in the US. I did 21 plays some years back. Maybe I should get back into it. I was disappointed that nobody asked me to do a hit TV show, but I very much enjoyed performing for an audience. I'll bet you would, too.
Excellent stuff. You do have a certain presence about you: I did wonder about your past. :D
And yeh, acting for fun, of course, not some fantastic notions of being the next DeNiro or something! Problem is, I often freeze in front of people when I am CONCIOUSLY performing. If I can get over that.. would love to perform. Poetry, stand up, and plays. Was thinking of doing some readings at open mikes: might boost my confidence for proper performances. Whatdya reckon?
Everybody gets butterflies. The trick is getting them to fly in formation! Whenever I opened in a new play I suffered absolute terror, dry mouth, shortness of breath. The moment I stepped onstage it all disappeared and I was fine. Even pain was forgotten onstage. But not my lines!
To get your feet wet, try Toastmasters International. You'll learn to be an after dinner speaker. It's surprising how quickly the stage fright melts away. You have an excellent voice, and your acting skills are fine.
Oh my goodness... your voice is just handsome!
I'll be reciting this poem in Poetry Out Loud, but you did a phenomenal job!
