  • AMAZING!! it's LOL and great music all at the same time!!!

  • The bass player puts alot of dudes to shame !

  • No, Thank YOU Rich Kelly & Friendship! You have seriously made me question my bass playing capabilities and dance techniques. **watch this in it's entirety** GO Bass Player!! GO!!

  • man the guy on the right, is getting it done, work it man. lol. but it's that era, disco..

  • I worked with Rich at the Chatterbox in Seaside in the early 70's. He was a true gentleman and a class act. Not to mention a great singer! Wonder what he's doing now?

  • Rich now lives in Florida and still performs.

  • GO BASS PLAYER GO!!!!! :)

  • Rockin' bass dance!!

  • Buster Keaton on bass!

  • We saw them at the Turf Inn in Albany NY back in the 70's. LOVED THEM! We were only 14 &17. We still love and miss you! Hugs and Kisses, Sara and Debbie

  • I actually would love to know what any of them are doing now...they were personal friends that I got out of touch with sadly, I know the bass player Tommy sullivan lived around here in Clifton park I don't know if he is still thereNeil the drummer was teaching some students in Jersey and Chucky anderson the keyboad player was runnong a new band I never got to see chuck Ewing

  • @loboroolz I've been told that Rich Kelly is still singing in Florida. I have no idea exactly where.

  • @schvaden

he is in the Clearwater Beach area doing a single...and sounds great!!!!

  • @loboroolz

Rich is doing a single in the Clearwater Beach area and sounds as good as ever, Tony is om the road with the Duprees, Charlie is working with a band in Jersey called Band of Gold (very good), Neil is working or about to retire from a sales position in the wholesale Italian food business, and Tom is a golf pro in the Saratoga NY area.

  • I remember Rich and the gang in many stages of musicians at the Turf inn in Albany ny I wish I could see them again music here hasn't been the same in years since....Chuck rwing

  • Saw Rich kelly & The Arrangement at the Chatterbox in Seaside Hgts, N.J. from 1968- 1974 They were the best bar band in the area and Kelly was a great singer. They did covers of every important rock song of the era. I'll never forget Rich doing Try A Little Tenderness, and running the length of the bar and jumping headfirst into the crowd- he always got caught by the fans!

  • @schvaden I can't believe Rich is still playing! Worth a trip to FL to say thanks! I was a local girl of seventeen and permitted to hang out at the Chatterbox by the owner Eddie...(i didn't drink) I asked Rich for "Tenderness" every time I saw him and he always obliged. I swear I got high from his amazing version.... Every time I hear Otis Redding's hit ... I think of Rich and honestly I prefer his super high energy version. You had to be there!

  • TOMMY SULLIVAN - king of the twinkle-toe'd Rick plunkers! Takes me back to the Luv Pub days!!

  • That bass player is getting down and funky.

  • Damn! That bass player is breakin' it down! What's he doing nowadays?

  • check out the spring reverb going nuts cos of 'crazy legs' antics at 1.43 .. priceless

  • Same thing with the ascending line at 2:50 Cropper and Duck had played lines just like that or nearly like that on records they made in the '60's. Rich Kelly and his band were really good, and they obviously studied the great recordings of the day. Go get a copy of Otis Redding doing "Can't Turn You Loose". As a matter of fact, get as much Stax stuff as you can. It's great classic American Soul Music!

  • The bass line at 1:20 is an oldie. It was played by Booker T. & the MGs on Otis Redding's "Can't Turn You Loose". So, when the Blues Brothers used it, it had nothing to do with Rich Kelly and his group. Duck Dunn and Steve Cropper were in the Blues Brothers and Booker T. - they were just playing what they had done back in the '60's.

  • The funny thing is, they are actually really, really good!!!! However, it does kinda remind me of a skit from SNL now that you see it thirty years later, but man....those guys can sing can't they? I can't even sing and play at the same time let alone dance!!!! They're probably still playing at the Coachman, too!

  • Groovy!!!! Dont wipe out Woohoo xo

  • If the reverb springs ain't knockin', the bass player ain't rockin'!

  • This was what entertainment was all about boy do we miss it .Rich I still miss your voice and working with our Bands side by side and Tommy always was awesome it was definitely a pleasure working with him in "Voyager"

  • There is in fact a drummer, and probably a keyboard player too, just off camera.

  • Actually the keyboard player is right behind the guitar player, the drummer is behind the singer.

  • Dig those STEPS!! Man that brings back memories...doing steps on stage. And what a great funky sound from that Ric bass.....and did he say Tom Sullivan on bass?? This is/was a real SHOW band!!

  • I love at the end how he gestures to the drummer and keyboard player, BUT THERE IS NO ONE THERE.

  • OFR: The drummer is right behind the band, the keyboard player is seated to the left of the singer.

  • Mega.

  • While many would say video is dated, the energy is not. The fact is, you'd be hard pressed to find ANY artists coming up the ranks today who can put that kind of FUN into their performances. Most can barely walk and chew gum, much less dance AND play bass at the same time! Working with one of the greats who put FUN into music (KC and the Sunshine Band's original bassist and co-founder, Producer/Arranger Rick Finch), I know first hand how true this is! Thanks for this clip and for the smiles!

  • @LoniRR Agreed!!

    ..and they're monster musicians....

  • Gimme some technical 411. What video camera was used?

    This should go viral!

  • Who is the bass player with the elastic legs? Legend!!

  • ahhh, the days of 1:35 are long gone

  • What happened to all the great clubs like this?

  • oh those days when the nautical smokin misty dimlit cavern in the TURF INN full of albanys jet set politicos hookers salesmen party girls, the skimpy hearty bold and LOVELY gals of the capital district, where are they now? divorced remarried miserable and fondly rememberin the dancin days of the lasvegas style acts world class entertainers there at the smokin TURF INN, a bit of tawdry Chicago in Wolf Rd... and the very very best Rock Act- Rich Kelley killin ONE VOICE acapella. whew

  • Rich Kelly was one of the best. Are there any other recordings of him out there? I use to see him in Albany NY at Fenders. He and his group were the best in the area on up into the 90's.

  • Great band! My father use too see them play at the coachman.
